Lunar directed by Natasha Vergilio will be screened during the second slot which is from 16:30-18:30

Lunar is a short dance film narrated by a body and its shadows that reveal to each movement and pauses the essence of emotional restlessness and psychic forces.

The film symbolizes everything that is under the influence of lunar energy: the nature of death, life and human virtues

Börchen Spielt Jetzt (Play it, Börchen) directed by Katrin Sikora will be screened during our first slot which is from 14:00-16:00

Boris is a techno DJ. Dropout, survivor, Michael Jackson impersonator, a possessed. And for some, maybe a loser.
On the site of a disused Stasi base somewhere near Berlin, he has found his personal paradise. Between barbed wire, raw masonry and improvised living rooms, he experiments with sounds and works on new tracks.
What makes you an artist? How important are success and status symbols? A search for happiness.

"Börchen Spielt Jetzt" is Katrin's debut as a documentary filmmaker

9BED(s) - 'One bed, five languages, nine mornings after, in nine awkward minutes'

9BED(s) will be screened during the second slot of the screenings which is from 16:30-18:30

9BED(s) directed by @celanash 'Ever since I have been sexually active, I have imagined the ideal place for all humanity is the Bed. At the moment after two people have had in*******se, where things are comfortable and awkward, sincere, bizarre and beautiful. It is a blissful state where we are really equal and we are at our best. 9BED(s) was a product of this dream, turned into a quirky comedy about my generation.

Couples from all over Europe and sometimes beyond, meet in this large Bed that exists in every home all over the world. The text was mostly a product of improvisation after putting the two actors together in different situations.

I tried to create a portrait of our similarities throughout Europe.
The Bed is playful and dramatic, romantic, lonely and cynical. In it we all speak the same language.'

The Indian is a comedy short film about Film Clichés: A clumsy young Indian gets kicked out of the apartment of his girlfriend. Trying to win her back he starts to search for a job. Things however do not go exactly according to plans.

The Indian will be screened at Moviemento Kino during the first screening from 14:00 - 16:00.

The Indian produced by SLfilm: DCP & Editing Services and directed by Chris Foessl. Chriss Foessl wanted to create ‘those classic Anerican comedies that have become rare nowadays, like The Jerk, The Party, Vacation, Airplane, The Naked Gun, or Bowfinger, just to mentioned a few. Film has always been about entertaining the audience to us, which is why we decided to put a variety of hilarous scenes and funny characters together’.

With only 4 days to go we would like to introduce Nora Jensen who will be hosting our Masterclass on Directing Actors.

Here is a little information about herself:

As an active member of Pro Quote Film, Nora Jensen, gives workshops and classes on different topics concerning acting, equality and diversity. During the Link-Up Film Festival Berlin 2020, Nora will held a masterclass in which she will pass on advice and techniques to everyone interested on directing actors for film.

At the age of six Nora Jensen decided to be an actress after seeing the Mid Summer Night’s Dream of William Shakespeare. As a teenager she made it come true and has since then worked in numerous theatre and film productions, as an actress and singer, in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and England. Next to her acting career she works as a tango teacher and author in Berlin.

We are excited to announce our Masterclass on "Exporting DCP's" which will be held by Sebastian Leitner (SLfilm: DCP & Editing Services) on the 26th of January at Moviemento Kino.

To find out about what this Masterclass is about please check out our previous post.

Here's a little info about Sebastian Leitner who will be holding the Masterclass.

Sebastian Leitner was born in Vienna. Being a big fan of the Hollywood of the 90s & 00s, he's what you would call a film-buff. A decade of experience brought out his specialities: Portraits, snappy trailer editing, (classical) music and comedy. His debut feature “Noseland”, a music mockumentary w. John Malkovich & Roger Moore premiered at IFF Karlovy Vary in 2012 – also awarded “Most Entertaining Documentary” in the US the same year. It got him NOMINATED for “BEST EDITING” at IFF Madrid in 2012. He was again nominated for it in 2017 for “Cairo Jazzman”, his second music docu-feature, which premiered at IFF Rotterdam in 2017. He has been working with DCP mastering for many years on a professional level and held many workshops, seminars and online courses on this and other topics world-wide. He will bring his knowledge to SAE Berlin in 2020 as a regular part of the curriculum.

We're excited to announce our Masterclass on "Exporting DCP's" which will be held by Sebastian Leitner (SLfilm: DCP & Editing Services) on the 26th of January at Moviemento Kino.

DCP has been the international digital cinema standard since 2002. This is what cinemas usually show and it needs to be perfect to fulfil the high standards and strict guidelines. Many believe it's easy to create DCPs yourself but the fact is, many cinema servers are old and outdated. Cinema equipment is expensive and not everyone invests in software updates. This is were this seminar, held by DCP-pro Sebastian Leitner, comes in: Professional and high-quality DCP-Mastering training to gain the experience to guarantee 100% playability worldwide. DCP-creation with all aspects of the audio-visual mastering process, including subtitling, transfer (linux cloning) and QC. Davinci Resolve Studio recently added the best 'cheap' way for DCP encoding (Kakadu J2K) but it's a lot more complicated than that – and there are many potential issues. The crucial work takes place before and after encoding, which is only one part of the 3-step mastering chain.
