Before We Were Wicked: RAGE

While rage is often relevant, 2020 feels particularly apropos. We covered the topic on “Citizens,” a precursor to The Wicked Podcast, last November (ages ago). Now, two months before the US presidential election, following a year of surprising unrest, society has come face-to-face with anger in its most extreme form. During this episode, we rewind to the 1992 Los Angeles riots, sparked by the Rodney King police brutality video (considered the first viral footage of its kind). What marks the difference between just and unjust rage? How can rage be alchemized into change? And why oh why does rage sometimes feel so good?

Episode 5: Emotions (feat. Demi Anter)

Emotions. They’re confusing, often random, and worst of all, make us vulnerable to heartbreak, failure, aggression, persuasion—ARGH! Who needs 'em?! Well... as we posited during this episode of The Wicked Podcast: anything that breathes or photosynthesizes! How is our management of emotion changing amid COVID-19 & ubiquitous media? And how might we better understand emotion exhibited by those with psychological differences?

Please listen through to the end to hear a moving poem by August Wicked Slam winner Demi Anter. Find her on Patreon at www.patreon.com/demianter

Before We Were Wicked: CHANGE

Sure— it's an older episode from our "Concerned Citizens" podcast, but the theme is relevant as ever: change. Listen as we discuss the picture of societal change at the end of the 2010s. Are we moving forward, backwards, or twisting into a knot? What's to be said for personal change? And what are our global wishes for the next five years?

Episode 4: Money

Kicking off our summertime dialogue, The Wicked Podcast tackles the concept of cash, or more broadly: money. From credit to crypto. Is our trust in currency shifting amid the COVID-19 pandemic? Considering policies like universal basic income and the notion of a post-scarcity society, how might our perception of money evolve in the future? Freethinkers delight!

At base level, money is a mere concept. Most people grasp its abstract nature, but this is trivial amid its ubiquitous dominance. And although it seems that hard cash is as infallible as the law of gr

Wicked Thoughts: Robert Isaf

"Wicked Thoughts” is a special opportunity to discover how your favorite artists are being affected, effecting, and making sense of these unique and challenging times. Corona has inevitably prodded at all aspects of our psyche and social architecture, causing us to re-calibrate and refashion our behavior and understanding of selves and society. Each week we will be posting 3 unique performances that delve into the minds of some of your favorite artists, who, through their creativity give voice to these times.

Over the past 3 years Wicked Projects has been blessed by being able provide a stage to many incredibly talented performers. It is truly humbling that even during these difficult times art continues to grow, and that these individuals have taken the time to express their hearts. If you are touched by these words and would like to show your own appreciation to the artist artist directly, please feel free to donate via PayPal: [email protected]

Wicked fans and contributors alike! We have a few slots left in our creative writing and performance workshop. Writing Out Loud is an 8-week workshop ran by David Gibson to develop performance and script-writing skills with the ultimate goal of presenting a showcase at the end of the 8th week. The class will focus primarily on the development of a 3-7 minute monologue written from the perspective of an original character that you will develop in class. This workshop will be held in English. If you have interest in participating please contact us via facebook message at the.word.berlin or Another Country. https://www.facebook.com/events/2734504060165016/
Dear comrades in rhyme, We are hosting a performance act with music and open stage poetry this Friday at 8pm, as a way of paying homage to Mahmoud Darwish, surrealist writer. Its also an event to draw attention to the dreadful conditions refugees face today at the borders of Europe - as Darwish`s own work has been concerned with the experience of exile and statelessness. Would love to see you there and hear your work. Pm if you are interested in joining! https://www.facebook.com/events/466550944229001/
Attention all Wicked fans! This Saturday night I will be performing alongside three fabulous local poets, including another Wicked Slam winner, Louisa Griffith-Jones, at a special one-time event in a music studio in Prenzlauer Berg. Hope you see you there -- and feel free to bring your poems and music to share as the featured performances will be followed by an open mic! https://www.facebook.com/events/2236156833303270/
