Each month we promote the profile and works of some truly talented local and international artists. Our hope is that Wicked Projects, through its various networks, is able to lend its support to the arts during these incredibly difficult times.

The month of May is devoted to the amazing Cedric Till.

Berlin-born Cedric Till is a multidisciplinary artist fully solidified in his voice and truth. He has showcased his work at multiple poetry slams (Wicked Slam, Ubud Writers Festival 2020 etc.), organized writing workshops and variety events ("An Hour With..." in 2018), and performed his work nationally and throughout Europe (Bulgaria, Netherland, UK, etc.).

With 22 years of experience as a rapper, he's also worked with gifted musicians and writers from over 25 countries and publishes his own work independently via various outlets.
Since 2010, he's released 12 projects both under the previous alias "Concrete Cee" and his given name Cedric Till. His powerful honesty and vulnerability has been explored and displayed most notably at Amelia Jane Hunter's "Storytelling With Spine" event series to appreciative response. His work has developed from autobiographic self-therapy, to personal mythology and more recently, absurdist and bluntly poignant observations on current events as well as his more immediate surroundings. He enjoys holding a mirror up to society and highlighting the peculiarity of the human experience.

YOU AND I - Demi Anter

“You and I” is a long-format spoken word performance by this month’s featured artist, Demi Anter. The piece explores the end of a relationship after six years. Both parties ask, was it for better or worse? And what does all this time add up to?

Demi created this performance while processing a breakup and serious depression, but the piece ultimately led her to finding her voice as a performer again.

She writes, “If this time has taught me anything, it’s that embracing your own vulnerability is sometimes the only way forward. Laying your past and your pain bare can be the key to moving on. To finding brightness in your life again. To connecting with others. To having a vision for your life.”

To see more of Demi’s performances, subscribe to her channel on YouTube or become at Patron at www.patreon.com/demianter. She is also teaching online writing and creativity courses which you can learn more about here: http://demianter.com/workshops.html.

"You and I" was written in 2018 and recorded at the Bristol Old Vic in 2019.

Each month we promote the profile and works of some truly talented local and international artists. Our hope is that Wicked Projects, through its various networks, is able to lend its support to the arts during these incredibly difficult times.

The month of April is devoted to the amazing Demi Anter.

Demi is a spoken word artist based in Berlin, Germany, and known for her “heartbreakingly honest and vulnerable” poetry performances (People Activation Blog, 2019).

Demi has performed spoken word throughout the USA, UK, and Europe, in addition to producing various showcases and workshops. She has been a featured spoken word performer at Glastonbury, I Am Loud's "Best of Fringe" at the Scottish Storytelling Centre, Electric Picnic Festival, and SAND Journal's Open-Air in 2019.

In 2020, Demi was the co-winner of the second annual Cursed Murphy Spoken Word Award. Her work has been featured by journals including Magma Poetry, Ninth Letter, ROPES Literary Journal, The Selkie, Porter House Review, and Mikrokosmos and mojo Literary Journal, and broadcast on BBC Radio London and the People’s Poetry Podcast.

Demi is also a dedicated teacher, intent on “creating an atmosphere that is welcoming and conducive to learning” (Elise Mireille, Founder of Therapy of Dance). Her workshops happen in Berlin and online.

You can find out more about Demi’s work, upcoming events, publications, and workshops on her website, www.demianter.com.

You can also join her Patreon community at www.patreon.com/demianter to regularly receive her poetry — in postcard form — in your mailbox.

Episode 8: Freedom

Freedom: What we're all hoping to feel after a tempestuous 2020. But do we wholly understand the concept? Its definition depends on the seeker, and ever more, we find the boundaries of liberation expanding into new territory. How do we determine when we're free? And what might happen after technology unshackles millions from labor? Is too much freedom a bad thing? Feel free to stop reading these questions and listen to our latest Wicked Podcast episode :)

The month of March is devoted to the amazing Ella Fuchs

While music is her preferred outlet, Ella always loved using different forms of artistic expression. Call her a writer, a painter or a crafter, but in the end, she is remembered as a singer songwriter with songs that transport and embrace you.

Ella's music is a refreshing mix of indie folk and acoustic pop but she also plays with elements of soul, rock and even cyberpunk. Born raised and still based in Berlin, she enjoys to mix different styles and refuses to settle down for only one genre.

Her songs tell stories of encounters and different forms of relationships, using the tales to reflect on the way we live and act together in our society. Used to play and work with different people for more than ten years, she recently started doing music as a solo artist.

Before We Were Wicked: LOVE

Last February, just before Valentine's Day, our podcast organized a roundtable discussion (dissection?) of love. Ten participants joined for this event—our largest group yet. Subtopics include religious definitions of love, Greek variations of love, and how negative emotions play with/against love. Also: Naniso rants about heart emojis ❤️💚💛💙💜

Presenting Wicked artists.

Each month we will be promoting the profile and works of some truly talented spoken word artist from around the world. Our hope is that Wicked Projects, through its various networks, is able to lend its support to the arts during these incredibly difficult times. We start our series with Brandon Williamson.

The basics:

Brandon Williamson was born and raised in Buffalo NY. A proud Fredonia graduate, Brandon has made it his life goal to reach out to students in inner city neighbourhoods similar to the one he grew up in, painting a path for them to follow to their future. In this process, Brandon spent time as a high school teacher before creating the Pure Ink Poetry Slam. As the only monthly running poetry slam in Buffalo, the Pure Ink Poetry Slam caters to the community of poets in the area, as well as authors, musicians, dancers, and comedians. As a product of the Ujima Theater company, Brandon works hard to build a community of art that everyone can be a part of. He has performed in a wide variety of musicals and plays since 2001 including Parade, The Green pastures, Stickfly, And bid him sing, Little shop of Horrors, The Scavengers Daughter, and more. He has also facilitated writing and performance workshops for organizations like Planned Parenthood, Teen Reality Theatre, Buffalo Public Schools, Summer school of the Arts, University at Buffalo, Buffalo State University and more. He has performed, competed, and won poetry slams and been featured throughout New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, Ontario, Michigan, Oregon, California and most recently Berlin and other parts of Europe. His book, Critical Lens, is a presentation of the world through the critical eyes of a poet. Critical Lens is currently featured in the Fredonia State University of New York Library, and has sold internationally in three countries, and is on sale at Lulu.com and Amazon. His second book is called “A How-to Guide” and is also available on Lulu.com and Amazon. Brandon also has a spoken word and music album titled Instrumental available on all streaming platforms.

Next week we will be sharing some of Brandon's work

On a different note, please spread the word: Dear Black Community // Liebe afrodiasporische Community (german below) Who participated in the Afrozensus and would like to talk to me about it? I am currently writing my master thesis about the Afrozensus project and I am interested in the experience and thoughts participants had while filling out the online-survey. My study area is anthropology and my focus roughly lies on how we produce knowledge in our society/different contexts. If you are interested and would be up to have an interview with me, please leave a comment:) Ideally we´ll do a video call of 30 min. to 1 hour. Many thanks and warmly // Lieben Dank und Grüße Jenny
Wicked fans and contributors alike! We have a few slots left in our creative writing and performance workshop. Writing Out Loud is an 8-week workshop ran by David Gibson to develop performance and script-writing skills with the ultimate goal of presenting a showcase at the end of the 8th week. The class will focus primarily on the development of a 3-7 minute monologue written from the perspective of an original character that you will develop in class. This workshop will be held in English. If you have interest in participating please contact us via facebook message at the.word.berlin or Another Country. https://www.facebook.com/events/2734504060165016/
Dear comrades in rhyme, We are hosting a performance act with music and open stage poetry this Friday at 8pm, as a way of paying homage to Mahmoud Darwish, surrealist writer. Its also an event to draw attention to the dreadful conditions refugees face today at the borders of Europe - as Darwish`s own work has been concerned with the experience of exile and statelessness. Would love to see you there and hear your work. Pm if you are interested in joining! https://www.facebook.com/events/466550944229001/
Attention all Wicked fans! This Saturday night I will be performing alongside three fabulous local poets, including another Wicked Slam winner, Louisa Griffith-Jones, at a special one-time event in a music studio in Prenzlauer Berg. Hope you see you there -- and feel free to bring your poems and music to share as the featured performances will be followed by an open mic! https://www.facebook.com/events/2236156833303270/
Looking to complete the lineup for the next Wicked slam. Performers can perform in either German or English. PM if you are interested.
Tonight is going to be crazy good.
I pm'd you but I got no answer...
