Looking forward to the discursive format of Jazzwoche Berlin. Among other things, important questions about the perspectives of Berlin jazz scene post-COVID will be discussed. A programme update follows soon 👇

Music journalist Franziska Buhre reflected on jazz festivals in times of the coronavirus crisis. She points out the creative and auspicious strategies musicians and festival organizers came up with in the last months, highlighting Jazzfest Berlin 2020 as a particularly successful interplay between impressions of space, the musicians’ interacting with one another and video works by various artists, which were featured in the programme. About the festival / Über das Festival

Jazzfest Berlin 2020: 5 to 8 November

Jazzfest Berlin, curated by Nadin Deventer from 2018 on, was founded in 1964 as Berliner Jazztage, making it one of Europe’s longest-standing and most renowned jazz festivals. While the first two decades of the festival’s existence focused on the style-defining and popular jazz greats from the United States, the spectrum has since then been extended to include global developments, with an emphasis on contemporary jazz from Europe. The festival endeavours to give a platform to emerging artists and to communicate the enduring vitality of jazz.
