Sabine Erclentz`s works with trumpet and electronics and her performances often stretch the borders of music and challenge the definition of genres.

Around the acoustic sonic dimensions of Blind Signal GRMN VTNM, Ercklentz brings all her dynamics and experiences, which gives an incredible strength to the collaborations.
We are very honoured to work with Sabine Erklentz and so much enjoying the days of the residency.

Julius Holtz is a composer and performer, inhabiting the intersection of contemporary music, sound and media arts. Through recontextualization of various formats and media, Holtz develops new fields of artistic experiments.

For the second edition of Blind Signal GRMN VTNM, Holtz will engage in collaborations with a modular synthesizer in line with the first edition in Hanoi and in the workshop he led during the project in Vietnam.

Julius Holtz will also present with Jemma Woolmore, Strange Loop, a concert-installation at the Kleiner wasserspeicher from 13th to 15th September.

DIE WASSERSPEICHER

This September, Blind Signal is hosting several events in the Kleiner Wasserspeicher in Prenzlauer Berg, Berlin. The two water reservoirs in this area "are of almost sacred beauty, lie in mysterious darkness and were exposed to decay for decades". Since 1994 the spaces have been opened again to the public and used by artists, reawakening the awareness of the city as architectural and technical historical public spaces.

Come and experience it for yourself in September at:

13-15 Sept: Strange Loop - The former water reservoir becomes the setting for an installation concert in which performers interact with light, architecture and spatial sound.

20-21 Sept: Blind Signal GRMN VTNM - Nine solo artists, musicians and composers from Vietnam and Germany, will be creating new pieces engaging the specificities of the space.

Erik K Skodvin - Red Box Curves

Erik K Skodvin`s music and (rare) live performances can be seen as something of a time stopping cinematic experience, he is a master of enveloping the listener into a world that is both monumental and suspenseful.

For Blind Signal GRMN VTNM Skodvin will bring his vibrant Cello to a three-day residency with 8 other fellow sound artists from Vietnam and Germany, followed by two public performances, including one solo. We will have the chance to rework with the founder of Miasma Records and the pleasure of listening to new collaborative compositions.

From 13-15 September 2019, we are excited to present, within the Month of Contemporary Music (Initiative Neue Musik Berlin / field notes), the concert installation Strange Loop of composer Julius Holtz and video artist Jem Ma Woolmore along with Hilary Jeffery, Benjamin Jefferys and Catherine Wersuhn.

Combining their work within the structures of the kleiner Wasserspeicher in Prenzlauer Berg, they will interact with light, architecture and spatial sound, blurring the boundaries between installation and concert, between hearing and seeing.

Huong DonNa was part of the first edition in Vietnam. Hanoi in its large geographical component, its the place she grew up and currently live as a musician and a music teacher.

She explores the combination of objects in an extremely realistic way, combining traditional instruments and electronic devices to tell her stories.
Among others, DonNa uses the Moon guitars, an instrument from central Vietnam, where she breaks the traditional way of playing and relocates the past sonic practices of the instrument in relation to its contemporaneity.

She led a workshop offering to deepen the wide range of sounds of common objects through the process of classification and auditory exploration by creating a piece of music.

Her solo performance with Blind Signal GRMN VTNM will be her first time in Europe and we are impatient to work again with this extremely bright artist.

Blind Signal is very honored to work with Audrey Chen for the second edition of Blind Signal GRMN VTNM, an artist exchange between Vietnamese and German sound artists.

Beside her collaboration with the other composers and musicians of the project, Blind Signal invites Chen to play a solo performance in Kleiner Wasserspeicher's room, including new imaginaries based on texts and memories, crossed in recent months.

In ATTN:Magazine, Jack Chuter describes his experience at Chen's concert: "An illusion is at work. I lose the ability to distinguish between the inside and the outside. Sometimes the microphone is directly inside Audrey Chen’s mouth, picking up the sound of the tongue as it peels away from the teeth, reaching down into her throat where constriction turns breath into gargles and gags. Yet the acoustic reflections also place me within rooms of various sizes: echoes that conjure images of damp wood cabins or small cupboards."

Only 9 weeks to go for the start of the second edition of Blind Signal GRMN VTNM in Berlin. Each week will be introduce one of the sound artists part of the second edition.

Antye Greie Ripatti aka #AGF aka #Poemproducer was part of the first edition in Hanoi. We had the privilege to be inspired by her impressive knowledge, skills and kindness for 7 days in the city of Hanoi. In this particular context, she proposed to research in sewing factories and more particularly in the factories where women worked. The Vietnamese context concerning this universe is very difficult with regard to the working conditions (especially for women), which leads us to seriously think about the way and the approach of this research.

Fortunately, the working conditions are not bad in all the factories and, with the help of other artists, they went to record in two different factories located near the city. Among those who have recorded Huong Donna, Luong Hue Trinh, LinhHàfornow and AGF, have created pieces including a short video piece, which will be rework and presented in September.

Poemproducer also led a #SonicWilderness workshop where she invited attendees to deep listening as part of a participatory exploration of the context they were in, using small portable instruments, mobile electronic music or music devices.

Here some side picture of AGF`S work and very much looking forward to the second edition.
