What a terrible news 😔
Goodbye dear Judy 🤍

Dear Friends,

Today we have to bring you some sad news. James' long time partner Judy Taylor (Bozanich) passed away this morning. Although she had been ill with a compromised immune system and multiple health problems for many years, this was still a shock to us.

We still don't have a lot of details other than she started having trouble breathing yesterday and James took her to the ER. Last night they sent her home from the hospital, but this morning James discovered her unresponsive and called 911 but the EMTs were not able to resuscitate her.

We are very saddened and now must think about supporting James in his time of need. Thankfully because of all of you, for the time being we have the resources to help keep his life on track.
We have been so blessed by the generosity of everyone who contributed and we hope that we can continue on and reach our goal so that James can move on and try to heal. Thanks again everyone.

Let Freedom Ring

"Self expression is self expression and I refuse to put it into categories. Music, art, dance, writing, skating….etc…. is all coming from the same place and is ALL self expression. Choosing to be independent is just that, independent. I am not that concerned with their rules or uniforms to dress up what I am presenting. I say yes or no and that is pretty much all there is to it"

YHIWYH (you pronounce it ‘y-y’) wants to offer a unique opportunity to discover a different side of their creativity, to know through these works what these artists cannot communicate with their music, or to observe it in a new light, from a different perspective. (from our Manifesto

LAST ANNNOUNCEMENT

LAST ANNNOUNCEMENT

Last but not least, a big big welcome to our beloved @Stephan Stephensen!

Stephan, aka Gluteus Maximus aka ADSR aka President Bongo aka President Pen*s, wears many hats, but likes to refer to himself as ‘an emotional carpenter’. And the name is fitting: throughout his illustrious career, Bongo has built, tooled, shaped and reconstructed reality in a manner that has touched upon the emotional spheres of thousands, greatly increasing their quality of life and inner harmony in the process.President Bongo began properly mastering his craft as a founding member of the pioneering electronic band GusGus, which has steadily gone from strength to strength since forming in 1995.
As GusGus, Gluteus Maximus and ADSR have evolved and progressed through the years Bongo remains a key element, making innumerable contributions through his work, which has ranged from design, film & photography to singing, songwriting, and production.
In spring 2015, however, President Bongo leaves GusGus after 20 years of loyal service to become his own master’s voice and in october, same year, we experience the birth of his first solo album, Serengeti, relased via Albumlabel / Sh*tkatapult, followed in 2019 by Quadrantes (Radio Bongo), produced & arranged with Óttar Sæmundsen.

In the words of his friend Ragnar Kjartansson, "Stephan Stephensen (b.1971) contents himself pretending to be an outsider of Reykjavik’s art-world, yet unwillingly he is a very influential artist. He is the bitumen-dandy, broken musician, a languid artist and a stoic romantic".

💥💥 Khan Of Finland💥💥

Another dear friend and great artist and perfomer joined Your Home is Where You're Happy - The Indie Art Project:
KHAN OF FINLAND

Khan Of Finland, born of Turkish-Finnish parents in Frankfurt/M, works as a composer, performer, and visual artist in Berlin since 2002. Living in NYC from 1992-2002 he owned the electronic record shop Temple Records-NYC, hosted downtown art events and the infamous queer party KILLER at legendary Save The Robots. He runs three record labels and produced and performed with a variety of artists and projects such as: Captain Comatose, Air Liquide, Diamanda Galás, Julee Cruise, Kid Congo Powers, Little Annie or Brigitte Fontaine. During his NYC period he released three full-length albums for Matador Records

In Berlin Khan hosted a monthly party at Berghain. He produced more than 300 physical releases to date. Group and solo exhibitions worldwide. Theater and soundtrack work for television and feature. Khan’s work has been presented at PS1 New York, Sónar Festival, Trans Musicales, CTM Festival Berlin or Primavera Sound to name a few.

He presented his photo-book/box-set “Angels Of Disguise” (Fantome Verlag 2013) at Kassel’s documenta13, a collection of stolen photographs taken from dating sites off the internet.

The archive of Khan’s snapshots mirrors our voyeurism so we finally recognize we’re most intrigued by picky details found in the hidden. Between fragments and snapshots secrets unveil, obsessions materialize. And desires dance.

Your Home Is Where You're Happy

Very happy to announce that also the radical, experimental instantaneous act formed by brothers Maurizio and Roberto Opalio, My Cat Is An Alien confirmed their participation to Your Home Is Where You're Happy - The Indie Art Project.

MCIAA is a single intermedia entity that acts through music, shamanic live audiovisual performance, painting and drawing, art design, photography, “cinematic poetry” films & videos, installation, writing and poetry, phonographic art editions and artists’ books since 1998.
Articles, interviews and extended reviews are featured on the most important international music magazines worldwide. MCIAA’s massive, poetic, philosophical and iconoclastic body of work–claimed as “future, future, future” by critic and writer David Keenan–earned them the cover of The WIRE Magazine.
Since the beginning the duo also dedicated themselves to several private press releases, ultra-limited art editions and art objects on their own Opax Records imprint.
MCIAA’s live debut happened when Sonic Youth invited them to open their European tour in 1998. Since then the Opalios toured several times with the NYC historical band and set up many projects with SY single members.
MCIAA’s visual and multimedia works, as well as Roberto Opalio’s cinematic poetry films have been presented in international museums, magazines, galleries and festivals.
In 2005 Roberto Opalio designed an exclusive Art T-shirt for The Wire magazine.
In 2017 MCIAA opened the 57th La Biennale di Venezia, invited to activate Xavier Veilhan’s Studio Venezia project for the French Pavilion (co-curated by @christian Marclay and Lionel Bovier).
Since 2017 MCIAA’s visual works have been acquired by the ANS Archivio Di Nuova Scrittura (Archive of New Writing) for Mart (Rovereto) and Museion (Bolzano) museums.
In 2018 MCIAA celebrated their own 20th anniversary along Thurston Moore’s 60th birthday releasing a collaborative private press 7” square flexi disc and art object entitled ‘PoesiaSonorAlienica’.
In 2019 MCIAA began their third decade of activity baptizing their new music and artistic phase “SPIRITUAL NOISE” and launched a new series of intermedia vinyl+artbook releases.

Hans-Joachim Roedelius for Your Home Is Where You're Happy

One of the most prolific musicians of the German avant-garde and a key figure in the birth of Krautrock, synthesizer pop and ambient music Hans-Joachim Roedelius will take part in YHIWYH The Indie Art Project. His artworks will be available from Sept. 25 on yourhomeiswhereyourehappy.net

Hans-Joachim Roedelius, born in Berlin in 1934, starred as a child in a number of UFA films. He fled Berlin in 1943, moving from one place to another before being conscripted into the National People’s Army (NVA) of the German Democratic Republic. Again he took flight, only to end up in prison. He trained as a male nurse, then as a hospice orderly. Having relocated from East to West Berlin, he went on to meander through Europe (as a thatcher, detective, masseur, bartender, cleaning toilets), before finally becoming a freelance artist, with avant-garde music his prime focus. Co-founder of Berlin’s first free art studio, the Zodiak Arts Lab (1967), he was also a founder member of various groups, namely Human Being, Kluster, @Cluster, Harmonia, Tempus Transit and Lunzprojekt.
He played on around 160 record productions either as a soloist or with band projects. Some 1600 musical works bear his name, plus a similar number of texts (poetry, prose etc.).
Music for dance theatre productions, oratorios, radio plays, symphonies. Cultural award winner in his home town of Baden, near Vienna, stipendiary of Vienna’s Alban Berg Foundation. Honorary President of the Moving Culture Festival in Tirana (Albania), Honorary member of the Happy Valley Foundation in Ojai (California/USA), artistic director of the More Ohr Less symposum and festival at Lunz am See, Austria. Arrington de Dionyso for Your Home Is Where You're Happy!
from Sept. 25th on yourhomeiswhereyourehappy.net

Very happy to announce that the shaman of American indie rock Arrington de Dionyso is taking part in #YHIWYHtheindieartproject.
His artworks will be available from September 25 on yourhomeiswhereyourehappy.net

Founding member and driving force behind the experimental Old Time Relijun, multi-instrumentalist Arrington de Dionyso spent most of his childhood in churches due to his minister parents, playing around with the church’s piano and organ. When the family moved to Spokane, Washington, de Dionyso got his first exposure to live punk rock and decided to pick up playing again, this time on guitar. He studied ethnomusicology, archetypal psychology and butoh dance theatre at the Evergreen State College in Olympia, Washington. During his second year away at school, de Dionyso formed Old Time Relijun, a jarring mix of the Birthday Party and free jazz. After a release on Pine Cone Alley in 1997, the band formed a relationship with Krecs. The band went through a number of changes, but de Dionyso’s vision and influences were always the center. His artistic practice integrates music and image-making with his studies of Kabbalah, alchemy and shamanism.
During Old Time Relijun’s hiatus, he formed a new band based on Indonesian music called Arrington de Dionyso's Malaikat dan Singa, using the tropes of diverse shamanic trance musics within a rock and roll performance context.
De Dionyso directed Reak: Trance Music and Possession in West Java, a documentary film about the music of an Indonesian trance ceremony; the film was shown by the Olympia Film Society in May, 2016.
He is also a co-founder of the Olympia Experimental Music Festival.
Designer Hedi Slimane incorporated de Dionyso’s drawing “Dragons and Angels in Deep Conversation” in various fashions as part of the SAINT LAURENT 2015 collection.

Your Home Is Where You're Happy

Today we are pleased to present an artist with a genuine independent spirit: Tim Kerr.

Through all of his life, Tim has never felt comfortable with labels and their restrictions. Like any self-respecting artistic outcast in Texas, Tim Kerr moved to Austin after high school graduation where he has lived ever since with his wife. He earned a degree in painting and photography at the University of Texas in Austin and studied the latter with Garry Winogrand. After college graduation, Tim became involved musically and artistically with the early stages of the DIY (Do It Yourself) punk/hardcore/self expression movement. The idea that anyone could and should participate in self-expression burst every door and window inside of him wide open. He was a key member in bands that have made recordings for such labels as Touch & Go, Estrus, Sympathy For The Record Industry, In The Red, Sub Pop, and Kill Rock Stars. Tim also produced and recorded bands for all the labels above and more, both in the US and overseas. Journalists and critics have cited bands that Tim was a member of as having been a major factor in starting everything from punkfunk, skaterock, grunge, and garage; and all have played an important role in what is known, for better or worse, as the US indie scene today. The Big Boys, Poison 13, Bad Mutha Goose, Lord High Fixers, and Monkey Wrench are just some of the bands Tim was a founding member of. Some of Tim’s art from then is now in books depicting that period. He shared bills with the likes of Grace Jones, Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Fugazi, Black Flag, Africa Bambaataa, and X to name a few. He has toured in the States and abroad. Tim was inducted into the Texas Music Hall of Fame by popular vote in 1996 which he says he is still honored, humbled, and confused by. His first band the Big Boys was inducted in 2017. The Experience Music Project Museum in Seattle asked to record an oral history with him in 2000 and he has donated a lot of his personal archives to the Austin History Library. The approach of an upcoming documentary being made about him, and also one about his first band The Big Boys, has Tim honored and surprised.
