EDERED is a non-profit organisation which is promoting intercultural work through drama and theatre with children and youth in Europe. EDERED as an organization was founded in 1985.
Principles The Encounter should be open-minded and welcome diverse ways of working in drama/theatre. The Encounter should provide opportunities for sharing these diverse approaches. The environement of an Encounter is non-competitive. The Encounter is a process of listening and inter-cultural co-operation and provides opportunities for children/youngsters/leaders to share their ideas and experiences in a safe environement. Each Encounter must recognise the unique opportunity provided for the socaial interaction of children/youngsters from diverse cultures. It should be fun! The Encounter 2015 in Switzerland gets financially supported from the CH-Foundation. Any communication or publication related to the 10th EDERED Youth Encounter 2015 reflects only the view of the EDERED organization team. EDERED as an organization was founded in 1985. The first Children's Encounter however took place in 1982; the first Youth Encounter was held in 1987. The idea grow out of an initiative put forward by the Council of Europe in a seminar hosted by Sweden in Eskilstuna in 1979 under the title, "Children and Culture in Contemporary Europe". The Encounter usually last for two weeks and consist of an intensive inter-cultural workshop program and planned social activities. A final presentation with a public performance is getting developed from the participants during the Encounter. At this time 17 European countries are a part of EDERED. The actual board members are: Katrin Janser - President (Switzerland) Jacqueline Sottiaux-Heyman – Vice President (Belgium) Stephan Schnell – Vice President (Germany) Damir Miholić – General Secretary (Croatia) Lieselot Deckers – Treasurer (Belgium)
