The Female Voice of Iran

Thanks to 128 supporters, our first funding goal was achieved. Especially in the current situation, it is important not to pay attention to those who shout for war loudly, stir up populist fears and do business with it, but to civil society, as in our film, to singing women in Iran. Let us listen less to the fundamentalists in all nations, but to the voices that build civil society networks among themselves.
We thank you for your encouraging sign of solidarity.

Shadi Behyar - concert in ‘Female Voice of Iran’

Here is the concert of Shadi Behyar in our Festival Female Voice of Iran.
- Shadi Behyar was born in Mahabad in Northwestern Iran, but decided to move to Tehran at a young age. She studied classical Persian music, but after a few years she felt she had lost the feel of her real voice while singing traditional music, and thus decided to follow her instinct and become a pop singer. At that time Iran had very few female pop singers, so Shadi Behyar became something of a trailblazer. She performs in Kurdish and Farsi. Shadi has a strong personality, being a woman who was disabled at a very young age. She never gave up on her dream of singing, even though she knew she might not get a permission to perform live with her band in Iran.

Female Voice of Iran

Festival in Berlin (2017 & 2018) and Feature Documentary (2020)

Iran is a multi-ethnic country with an old, diverse history. In each part of this huge land people have their own, unique music culture and expression in which female voices always have played an important role. These pure, beautiful voices should be listened to more and more around the world.

After a successful first festival in 2017, the „Female Voice of Iran - Sounding Borders” Festival 2018, staged nine female singers from the younger generation, originating from different ethnic groups and regions, which are mainly located close by the official borders of Iran. For the festival, all invited singers and musicians have, in addition to their solo performances, teamed up with musicians and artists from the international, contemporary scene of Berlin. Bravo
Thanks for the invitation!
Thank you so much again for this great festival, Yalda Yazdani, Andreas Rocholl, all the singers and the team! Again, it was very touching and great!
Dear Community, we would like to invite you to our festival "Theater der Dinge 2018" in Berlin (9. - 15. November). A special part of the festival will be the production "Flight No. 745" from Pouppe Theater (Teheran). Director Marjan Poorgholamhossein tells the story of a woman who returns to Teheran to sell her parents’ house. As a child she fled the city with her family during the first Gulf War, leaving the street she grew up on and the people she knew. In the plane she tries to carefully reconstruct the memories that she feared she had already lost. We are looking forward to welcome you at SCHAUBUDE BERLIN!
