This article explains why we have been organizing tours to the DDay beaches since 2001. It’s an amazing point in history and should never be forgotten

"Anyone who has ever traversed this stretch of Normandy, the coast as it winds its way from Omaha Beach west toward Cherbourg, and understood the topography—the cliffs and the precious few routes inland meant the Allies couldn’t bomb heavily without risking being stranded on the beach—anyone who has ever set foot here comes away with two questions: How did these men pull this off? And what would have happened if they hadn’t?" Rachel Donadio reports from France:

This is one of the exciting and exhilarating tours we did this year. We hope you will join us in 2019 for such a magical...

This is one of the exciting and exhilarating tours we did this year. We hope you will join us in 2019 for such a magical experience!

Paris—This December my guests and I had the thrill of our lives: a 45-minute tour by helicopter of Paris, the Valley of the Seine, Versailles and the castles of the valley of Chevreuse. Once you fly over the forests of France and the winding Seine river with the Eiffel Tower in the distance, you w...

VERSAILLES—The best way to get out to the palatial estate is via Uber at 9 am when a sleepy city allows you to whiz by in under 30 minutes. Picasso’s Masterpieces at the Picasso Museum | Rachel Kaplans' Insider France

Here is a quick write up on the current show at the Picasso Museum in Paris. As they say, buyer beware. If you can make time to see the other Picasso show at the Orsay Museum.

Paris—A name like Picasso will always be saleable in France—and if you add the word “masterpiece” you are sure to draw a crowd. Well, this year’s show, while interesting, revealed few surprises. The Desmoiselles d’Avignon is not the original but a tapestry version that once hung in Nelso...

Events & Company

WOW! This is the best fan letter I have ever received since I launched Events & Company in 2004! Amazing!!

It was my 60th birthday and my dream was to have it in Paris with my friends.

Even though my birthday was in December, I thought it would be better to have the three days of celebrations in April. Who wants to go to Paris in December? I contacted Rachel Kaplan in August of 2015 and in a matter of a few days we had sketched out the events that would take place over the three-day period.

It was complex. 9 separate events. 44 guests. 4 different meals. A bus each day for transportation. And 10 old Citroen DS cars.

Rachel opened herself up to assist all the guests. From arranging an excellent hotel where half the guests stayed to doing something as detail oriented as providing limo service from the airport, Rachel was on top of it. Many of my guests remarked how grateful they were for Rachel and her staff.

With the enormous complexity of 44 guests and 9 different events, I expected hiccups. How could you escape them? All the planning in the world can’t overcome the randomness of things happening.

Except there were no hiccups. I’m a perfectionist and I can honestly say that Rachel made the three days perfect.

And it wasn’t easy, I’m sure. One of the events was a 10 car caravan of old Citroen DS cars. Where does one find 10 old Citroen DS cars? With English speaking drivers, no less! Rachel did and it was so much fun driving in Paris, catching the attention of Parisians who would turn and take pictures of their historic, national automobile.

I had hoped for a relatively perfect weekend. I got a perfect weekend plus a bonus. Rachel is a living encyclopedia of Paris history. We went on a two-hour bus tour with Rachel manning the microphone. I have been to Paris many, many times over the course of 41 years. I thought I knew a little something about Paris. After her tour, I’m sure I know nothing. I saw and learned things about Paris that knocked my socks off! I wasn’t the only one. Many friends said the same thing. We were just in awe of her knowledge.

AND she’s funny but in a very droll way. This made the tour very enjoyable. Really, anytime we got on a bus to go anywhere, even at 11 pm after dinner, Rachel would take the microphone and give us the best stories based on where we were. It was very special.

Can you tell that I can’t recommend Rachel highly enough? You don’t have to have an event this elaborate to fully appreciate what Rachel can do for you. She is your go-to person for any kind of event or tour you want to have in Paris. Her warmth, energy, enthusiasm and knowledge will make anything you do in Paris very special.

Please feel free to contact me at [email protected] if you have further questions
