European Jewish Heritage Tours

European Jewish Heritage Tours Rachel Kaplan created European Jewish Tours—unique, private, luxury tours—to reflect her passion for Jewish history and heritage in Western, Central and Eastern Europe.

European Jewish Tours organizes private, luxury customized tours for groups and individuals from all over the English-speaking world. Our emphasis is on the rich and complex European Jewish history, culture and art that is to be found all over Western, Central and Eastern Europe. We arrange both kosher and non-kosher programs.

Mission: Our mission is to show that Adolf Hitler did not win, and that Jewish life is flourishing and being rediscovered all over Europe, even where communities are small. We want to show the beauty and pride of Jewish heritage, and to make travel in Europe both easy and exciting.

“One day Simon called and said that he would like to celebrate his 90th birthday with a few friends in Vienna. I asked him where he would like to celebrate.
•••
He said, ‘I have one unfulfilled wish, to have a party at the Imperial Hotel.’ He told me that it was Hitler’s favorite hotel and that both Hitler and Himmler had permanent suites there. They built enormous bunkers beneath the hotel, which still exist today, because Hitler thought that this would serve as an ideal headquarters from where he could conduct the Second World War.
•••
During the Third Reich, it would have been unthinkable, Simon said, for a Jew to be seen at the Imperial Hotel. ‘And I want to make sure,’ he said, ‘that all the taboos of the Third Reich are broken and that the record of this hotel would affirm that Simon Wiesenthal celebrated his 90th birthday here with a Kosher dinner.’
•••
On the night of the dinner, when the band played a favorite Yiddish song, ‘Belz, Mein Shtele Belz’ (Belz, My Little Shtetl Belz), he looked up at the ceiling, turned to me, and said: ‘You see even the chandeliers are shaking because this is the first time they have ever heard such music here.
•••
Let the record read,’ he said, ‘that Hitler is no longer here, but even in the Imperial Hotel, Jews are still alive and still singing.’” •••
- Rabbi Marvin Hier reflecting on what would have been Simon Wiesenthal’s 111th birthday today.

Berlin celebrates start of Hanukkah by lighting biggest menorah in Europe | DW | 22.12.2019

How wonderful!! Angela Merkel’s visit to Auschwitz had certainly something to do with it! France with the world’s third largest population of Jews should take note.

Over 2,000 people attended the event at Brandenburg Gate, while Jews in Munich recognized International Holocaust Survivors Night. Religious and political leaders denounced anti-Semitism and far-right extremism.

This is an important article and I hope to use my company to fight anti-Semitism on European soil. My goal with European Jewish Heritage Tours was to prove that Hitler hadn't won. The situation is very complex and isn't helped by Trump and those Jews who support him for monetary reasons. We are living in challenging times, and it is not surprising that the world is seeking scapegoats, including at the US border...

So glad the BBC wrote about Chambon sur Lignon. We plan to run tours there next year. Write to [email protected] if you wish to know more.

Through an extraordinary campaign of non-violent resistance during World War II, residents of Le Chambon-sur-Lignon saved thousands of Jews from deportation and almost certain death.

I look forward to adding these synagogues to our future tours in Budapest

Budapest’s three grand main synagogues, on Dohány, Kazinczy and Rumbach streets, are local landmarks. But there are a more than a score of other synagogues scattered around the Hungarian capital, most of them home to active — if small — congregations. The second article of our three-part series on lesser known synagogues in Budapest explores synagogues that are hidden from general view — sanctuaries located within building courtyards and apartments.

Let us not forget!! As we revisit Jewish Europe in 2019, let us take time to remember what was lost to world civilization: 11 Nobel prize winners, scores of artists, scientists, doctors, lawyers, educators and children who never lived to fulfill their promise. If we are humane, we need to stop the rise of fascism to ensure this horror never occurs again.

What are some the main claims of Holocaust revisionists. How are they rebutted?

19. For years, the death statistics at Auschwitz-Birkenau had been put at well over 3 million. Recently, however, a memorial plaque at the former death camp estimates Jewish losses closer to 1 million. https://goo.gl/BJLp4z
