Origami For Life

Origami For Life, 13, avenue du Président Wilson, 75116 Paris.

CNN Article: How Christy Lee Rogers is pushing the boundaries of underwater photography....

Among those who call "underwater photography" their specialty, Christy Lee Rogers stands apart. Instead of immersing herself in water, she instead follows its movement and that of models dreamily wading, by shooting from above.

I met Alain Longeaud in Lyon during the Docks Art Fair and across the Raymond Barre bridge on a day’s end. We photographed both a spider webs and this image will remain forever engraved in my memory. From that moment on, I discovered his work and his career. Sensitive, unusual, timeless...
Between reality and dreams, the Parisian photographer opens the field of his emotions like so many doors to "other realities".
The former student of mathematics, keen on abstract equations, fell into the silver bath in the footsteps of Helmut Newton, and become his assistant. His encounters with photographers Bill Brandt and Ralph Gibson also contributed to forging his vision.
After a career as a fashion photographer, Alain Longeaud now devotes himself to decoration, architecture and portrait photography, in parallel with his artistic work full of poetry.

I think being an adventurer is not something you become, it's what we are all born with. No one starts to climb or suddenly goes outside; it's a natural state of mind. But if we are not very careful in our daily life, we'll quit very early on. Years of school, parents and society expectations slowly grind away our original spirit and we eventually start to behave in what's seen as a civilized way. Politicians, sociologists and utopian philosophers dream about a risk-free society. Yet the simple experience of pain and conquering of it can then become part of the enriched feeling of using your potential, being present in your own life. Simply surviving, reaching for something beyond oneself and eventually feeling truly happy in that discovery.

DOUG AITKEN
Mirage Gstaad, 2019
In the tradition of land-art as a reflection of the dreams and aspirations projected onto the American West, Mirage Gstaad presents a continually changing encounter in which subject and object, inside and outside are in constant flux. With every available surface clad in mirror, it both absorbs and reflects the landscape around in such ways that the exterior will seemingly disappear just as the interior draws the viewer into a never-ending kaleidoscope of light and reflection. As Mirage Gstaad pulls the landscape in and reflects it back out, this classic one-story suburban house becomes a framing device, a perceptual echo-chamber endlessly bouncing between the dream of nature as pure uninhabited state and the pursuit of its conquest. Situated against the backdrop of Videmanette in Gstaad, Mirage Gstaad will bring the idea of the Manifest Destiny and the American West into contact with the European landscape and the tradition of the sublime. # https://lnkd.in/dk7mQEv

I had the privilege of knowing Jean Marquis a long time ago... I admired this humble man, with, in his blue eyes, a warm and sunny glance. His humanist and benevolent gaze at his subjects by the time of the photographic click , will remain, through his work, forever impregnated with such freshness and spontaneity. His images will forever remain as great classics testifying of the past time but carried on an incredible modernity.

So much to say about Christy Lee Rogers…. she is not only a wonderful and talented artist , but also an amazing human being…
Our collaboration started 8 years ago… I found a picture of her in a Magazine and fell totally in love with the beauty and the purpose of Christy’s underwater picture.
I wrote to her spontaneously and few months later I did organise his first exhibition in Paris…. that’s how everything started… during the last years , so many and beautiful experiences together… One of our unforgettable exhibitions was certainly during the Venise Biennale . She deserves the current success and recognition and I’m so happy to see her express his art in such a sensitive, positive and beautiful way… she really spread beauty and love around the world.
One of Christy’s quote:
"What I want more than ever is to express and inspire hope and freedom, a sense of wonder and tranquility, to create a safe place to dream wildly, and most importantly to inspire the idea that there are still mysterious, impossibly beautiful things on Earth, not solely in our imaginations."

I met Christian Coigny on a job that was one of the most relevant I never participated in my life: the Vitra Campaign.
I was living in Zürich and worked as free lance curator
researching personalities and testimonials for the worldwide Campaign. I worked with several famous photographers from 1987 to 1997 and one of them was Christian Coigny who photographed more than 130 personalities of the cultural world seated on Vitra furniture.
When I look at the portraits today I realize the chance I had to met Christian but also how lucky I was to approach these amazing personalities and the memories of this period remain unalterable.
But except this Campaign, Christian Coigny is a giant of black and white photography…
His work is anchored in a classical education and strongly influenced by American painters such as Edward Hopper, Georgia O’Keefe and Andrew Wyeth, who he discovered during his 5-year stay in San Francisco. Very rapidly, major brands called him to transpose his personal mark onto their advertising campaigns. He now devotes most of his time to his personal work whilst exhibiting at various galleries and museums around the world.

"Venus Rising" for Coronavirus Relief — Avvola Contemporary

"VENUS RISING" PRINT TO GO ON SALE IMMEDIATELY - WITH 100% OF PROCEEDS GOING TO CORONAVIRUS RELIEF EFFORTS FOR KIDS
Venus, an etherial and luminous symbol of beauty, is the subject of International water artist and photographer Christy Lee Rogers’ latest release “Venus Rising." In response to the growing devastation of the Coronavirus around the world, she’s orchestrating a quick release of the first image from her up-until-now secret "Gravity” collection. Two edition sets will go on sale immediately, with all proceeds going to Save the Children, and No Kid Hungry charities.

Inspired by Botticelli’s "The Birth of Venus” and the idea that contemplating her beauty is a way to elevate the human spirit and get closer to the divine.

“I can not bear to see so much suffering in the world. It’s as if everything changed over night. I couldn’t get any of my normal routines done, and the only thing that felt right and calmed me was to create. A few days ago, upon completing the 'Venus Rising’ image, I started to feel hope again. I started to home school my son and to really see what was in front of me. So many people coming together to help, and all from a physical distance. And I truly believe that no matter what life may throw at us, we have the power to love, to create and to dream up our future. No one-- nothing can take that from us."
