Gift of Gab (from Blackalicious) speaks to youth at The Bridge Music Project

We are deeply saddened to learn about the passing of The Gift of Gab. He was an inspiration to many of us and a true contributor to Hip Hop culture. He will be missed.
A few months ago, Gab took the time share his wisdom with our youth at The Bridge. Below is a recording of his presentation. RIP.

This Saturday October 24th from Noon until 7 pm is our last day open to the public while we transition through finding a new location and Covid Restrictions.

Don’t forget to stop by and stock up on your music accessory needs like Guitar Strings, drumsticks, reeds, oils, etc while they are still readily available. Now is the perfect time to swing in and grab some stocking stuffers for the favorite musician in your life.

Dearest Friends, Guests & Customers,

The Garage: Music and Arts Center will be closing and relocating, effective October 25th, 2020.

It is with great reluctance that we release this statement, but the time has come. With current restrictions due to COVID-19, we have had to cease operations of our workshops, concerts, jam sessions, lessons, and use of our practice rooms and community instruments. Operating exclusively as a retail store is not financially sustainable, nor is it in keeping with our mission as a nonprofit. We hope to reopen in a new location once it is safe for us to return to public spaces to create together. Words cannot express our gratitude for the kindness and support we have received since first opening our doors in 2017. Through the Garage, we have built many wonderful friendships and connections within the community. This decision truly hurts our hearts.

Our nonprofit organization will continue operations throughout this transition, continuing to find opportunities to work with and support our communities.

The song isn’t over. We’re just pressing pause.

This year, living room and front porch concerts are great. In the interest of public health, videos of any musician playing where social distancing guidelines are not being followed will not be shown. We understand that many musicians have their bandmates in their “pod” of 5 or so close contacts so that they can continue to make music together through this socially distanced period. Please be safe and limit your audience to five or fewer.

Videos may be composed of a single video shot or a spliced compilation. We ask that the bulk of the camera shots are live shots. This year, you get as many takes as you need to make it your best show, and hopefully you will have a product you are proud of.
Try to limit overproduction. We want to showcase your natural live talent, not your audio/video editing skills. We have a team that will be adding edits to your video for the sake of uniformity. Among the edits will be the addition of musicians’ Venmo/Patreon and contact information.

If recording in a venue within Grays Harbor, that business must be registered and in good standing with Grays Harbor County and the city in which the business resides. Our nonprofit requests grant funding from our local government agencies among other sources. It’s important to us as an organization to maintain an excellent relationship with them and our community.

We will promote your video in the week leading up to it’s airing on our twitch channel. The video will premier in its entirety. Any video that does not contain a cover song will remain in rotation on our twitch channel. Any video containing a cover song will get flagged and muted by Amazon and Twitch over copyright. Once a video is muted, it becomes unavailable for rebroadcast. Musicians will be sent a copy of their edited video file to use as they see fit.

Our Story

“ You can be the best band in the world, but no one will know it unless you get out of the garage.” Our Garage is going to change all that. Our Garage is an environment of creation and exploration. Located within the Shoppes at Riverside in Aberdeen, The Garage: Music and Arts Center is dedicated to providing the community and our youth with music workshops, arts workshops, rehearsal spaces, and a performance venue. We also offer musicians' supplies for sale, such as guitar strings, drum sticks, cork grease and valve oil. Currently, our community is lacking in music opportunities, and we are working to close that gap. We host a variety of Youth and Community programs. Youth Orchestra Unbound, Homeschool Orchestra, The Bridge Music Project, Kindermusik with Aries Light & Poco Voce Children’s Choir are our current Youth programs available at The Garage: Music and Arts Center. We also host all ages Open Mic & Jam Sessions every Thursday of the month at 6 pm. The idea is to bring the community together and provide a safe and comfortable setting for creative minds of all kinds and ages to collaborate while providing our community with workshops and getting instruments into the hands of people who might not otherwise have the opportunity. We have two private practice rooms that are available for rent at $3 for 30 mins that are free for any student to use. We also have over 75 community use instruments and an open jam space free to use while there are no classes or programs running. The 98520 Music & Arts District Initiative was founded in 2017 in Grays Harbor County, working to improve the quality of life for all of its citizens and boost tourism in our community. In 2017 we also founded the 98520 & 98550 Annual Music Festival, running from October 1st through October 31st, working with multiple businesses and artists from our communities to provide movies and documentaries about Music, showings at local Art Galleries, Music displays at our libraries and 31 music related events in 31 days.

My son had his first piano lesson today at The Garage and I would like to say thank you!!! We were made to feel like family ❤️ Thank you so much!!!
Do you guys still want my piano on a semi-permanent loan? We just need a way to get it from my place to The Garage. It's about 1/3 of a mile. We could just put it on rollers and push it. :-)
We are closing at 5:30 pm today.
Jim Baysinger was live at The Garage, April 15, 2019.
I just had my musical performance debut at The Garage! The first time I've ever played live for an audience. The sound quality is wretched, since it's a camera microphone, but I managed to edit the sound and at least make it intelligible. I hit a few clams, but overall not bad for a first-timer. I actually played the bass and programmed the drums, I use no loops or samples. I left the backing track a little rough to simulate a "live" sound. Many thanks to JR at The Garage, he was very helpful and played a big part in making this happen for me! I hope to do more and eventually develop a complete show. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mFqfJL8POuI
Hello, Local Talent! The Aberdeen Sunday Market is looking for live, local (family-friendly) performers to come play with us this Summer! Sundays from May 26th through September 15th! Please send letters of interest and links to or samples of your work and gig rate to [email protected]!
i'm looking for a guitarist or two, a slow jazz improv horn (sax or trumpet), and maybe keyboardist interested in jamming with a poet for a performance at some point. I have some work that begs more musical accompaniment. Anyone interested? I'd like to have musicians who would like to do a short solo set also for a show, to break up the poetry blocks. Plz message me here on FB. Thanks.
Check out this wonderful video about The Bridge Music Project featuring artists from their Olympia sessions.
One of my prized guitars was stolen a while back and may be circulating around Grays Harbor area. It is a Bunker MVP with blue quilt top and very distinct tension free neck/head feature as seen in pic 4. Offering $200 reward for the return of it. No questions asked.
Happy birthday! It's awesome to have a musical outlet with no bias to types of musical expression open to anyone any age in the Grays Harbor Community! Thanks for being a resource and an outlet for so many! Rock on!!! Many more anniversaries to come!!!!
