Children's Chamber Hour - 5pm
This will be a wonderful opportunity for children. Parents can attend the concert featuring William Joyner, tenor with Steven Harlos, piano and the children will be involved in an engaging lesson reflecting the music being heard in the nave. Musician and experienced Kindermusik instructor, Angela McKnight will guide the children ages 4+ through a thoughtful and interactive lesson that will provide them with tools to better understand and appreciate music. This will be a theme throughout the remainder of the concert series with each Children's Chamber Hour focusing on a different topic/lesson that will compliment our featured performers.

There is a unique opportunity to hear some extraordinary music right here in Abilene. The Abilene Chamber Players will be performing a concert entitled "The Nonet" featuring the full time and adjunct faculty at Hardin-Simmons University with special guest artist George Amorim on double bass. Several Key City Winds personnel will be performing.
The ensemble will be playing Nonets by Nino Rota, Francis Poulenc and Bohuslav Martinu. The concert will be in Woodward-Dellis Recital Hall on the HSU campus and is free and open to the public.

DAVID J. POLLEY is a part-time Assistant Professor of Applied Music at Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas, where he is the principle organ teacher. In addition to his organ teaching at Southwestern and service playing at University United Methodist Church in Austin, Dr. Polley is also a full-time choral director at Akins H.S. in the Austin ISD. He is currently celebrating 50 years as a paid church organist.
David is looking forward to ‘retiring’ from his public school teaching in December and devoting more time to recitals and his three grandchildren. In November 2014, Drs. Cain, Polley and Asbury (guitar faculty at Southwestern U.) will present concerts for Voice, Guitar, and Organ in Australia, including the Canberra Art Song Festival.

BRUCE A. CAIN is an Associate Professor of Music at Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas, where he is the principle voice teacher and Artistic Director of the S.U. Opera Theatre. Dr. Cain has appeared in concerts from Laredo to Chicago and Washington D.C. to Richland, Washington. He has sung with early music ensembles as well as premiers of new works. He has been heard in many concerts with the Austin Civic Chorus, Austin Vocal Arts Ensemble, the Austin Symphony, the Austin Lyric Opera, Austin’s St. Cecilia Music Series, and the Georgetown Festival of the Arts. He has also appeared as a soloist with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Grant Park Symphony Orchestra, Billings Montana Symphony, Quad Cities Symphony, and the Wheaton Symphony. His latest projects include two major grants for the commissioning of new art songs for baritone and guitar with David Asbury. The Southwestern duo recently presented the new song cycle, “A River of Words” on the Kennedy Center Millinium Stage, the Library of Congress, a tour of Denmark, Sweden, and Germany in 2012, and two concerts in Morocco in 2013. In November 2014, Drs. Cain, Polley and Asbury will present concerts for Voice Guitar and Organ in Australia, including the Canberra Art Song Festival. Dr. Cain is also the conductor and artistic director of the San Gabriel Chorale in Georgetown.
