Thank You, Thank You, Thank You and Thank You again Rotary Club of Gold Beach. With our 4th Rogue River Triathlon coming up this Saturday, we can’t THANK YOU enough for your generous support. Your members have not only participated in this unique little community nonprofit fundraiser for the past 4 years, they also show up in droves each year to give of their time in any way needed to help make it a success.

And, if that wasn’t already enough to be grateful for – you recognized the huge need for an upgrade to our Bike Racks and gave us the funds to purchase them. So …. now even our participants are beholden to you.

Thank You Rotary Club of Gold Beach for your Lifetime Sponsorship of our goal to promote health and wellness with this annual event.

Hi there Fellow Triathletes:

It’s almost here………our 4th Annual Rogue River Triathlon this Saturday, August 4th. Following is some helpful information to help prepare you for what to expect that day.

The drive up to Agness from Gold Beach will take at least 15 minutes longer this year due to uneven pavement in several places where the pavement has dropped from all the rain last winter. You will want to allow an hour to get here.

Participant Parking is provided along Agness Road on both sides of the entrance to Agness RV Park & Cougar Lane Lodge. At Sign In you will be given a Participant Parking voucher to put on the dash of your car.

SIGN IN begins at 6:30 am. The race will start at 9:00 am sharp. All participants are to be at the Cougar Lane gravel bar at 8:45 am.

At SIGN IN –
- You are required to show us your life jacket and helmet.
- You are required to sign a Waiver.
- Please tell the person signing you in if you are part of a TEAM.
- You will be given your Bib #, a swim cap that must be worn for safety, a bike label with your Bib # on it to put on your bike, a helmet label with your Bib # on it, a healthy snack, and your commemorative T-Shirt.

After SIGN IN –
- You will be directed to the Bike Corral to park your bike and lay out the items you will quickly transition into for the RUN, then RIDE, under your bike (towel, dry shoes & socks, sun glasses, hat, water, etcetera).
- Two volunteers have been assigned to closely monitor the bike corral from the moment your bike is parked there through the time that you finish the race. PLEASE NOTE: After the last person crosses the FINISH line, the bike corral monitors will no longer have the responsibility for your bike.

The SWIM – Water shoes are recommended since you will be exiting and running in gravel, up a sandy
path, and on a paved road to the transition area.
- The SWIM begins with a short distance up river and around a buoy then you will swim with the downriver current. Shortly after you head downriver there is an exhilarating, but shallow rapid that is best completed by floating with feet forward on your back to avoid bumping any rocks. It’s fun. (I do it with my grandkids.)
- There will be a large ORANGE BUOY in the middle of the river directly out from the shoreline where the SWIM EXIT is. You will be able to see the buoy well in advance of nearing the exit.
- Volunteers will be at the edge to direct you up the path and down “B” Row toward the bike corral to transition for the RUN.

The RUN –
- FOR YOUR SAFETY, there are defined EXIT & ENTER lanes from the Bike Corral. When exiting stay to the right and stay to the left when entering.
- From the Bike Corral, RUN out the exit lane and go up and out of the RV Park, then go to the LEFT on Agness Road.
- You will run upriver facing traffic to the Shasta Costa hydration station and turnaround to run back facing traffic to the Bike Corral to get on your bike.
The RIDE –
- From the Bike Corral, RIDE out the exit lane and go up and out of the RV Park and go RIGHT on Agness Road.
- You will stay on Agness Road approximately 1 ½ miles up to the Trash Dogs sign hydration station and turnaround to ride back on Agness Road, passing the RV Park and continuing on, passing over the river on Coon Rock Bridge to the hydration station at the Foster Bar intersection and turnaround to ride back to the FINISH line.
- PLEASE NOTE – you are required to DISMOUNT just before the FINISH Line. Your finish time is noted when you DISMOUNT.

Timeline for the Day

- Post Race Celebration Starts at 10:30
- Our favorite local Wandering Pizzaoili Wood Fired Pizza wagon will be with us and in
addition to their fantastic pizza, will also be offering Salads.
- Beer will be available for a $3.00 Donation (3 orange tickets from Cashier)
- Bottled water will be available for a $2.00 Donation (2 orange tickets from Cashier)
- Awards Ceremony will be shortly after last participant crosses FINISH line to acknowledge
1st, 2nd & 3rd Place each for – Men, Women & Teams
- Raffle Prize Drawing following Awards Ceremony – Raffle tickets are $1.00 each and there are some GREAT prizes – check out the list posted onsite at Cashier

I know there are those who participate in this event to WIN it, and I respect that level of ability very much. (Had I started competing earlier in my life, I might have been one to give you a run for your money.) But for me, the training each year for this little community Triathlon sets up an accountability to my health and wellness that without it might not be as high a priority each day. It’s been a delight to encourage others to join us in this mission to promote wellness each year. Thanks for being a part of it.
Have Fun and Be Safe!!!!
See you Saturday.

Hey there fellow triathletes………………this year’s event is just 19 days away !!! It’s a great way to meet some fellow participants and become familiar with the route. You need to bring your bike, your life jacket (and river shoes are recommended) and your running shoes.

Please contact me to make an appointment to meet you on whichever Saturday works for you. I look forward to the opportunity to train with you. Call or text me at 707 695-4872 or email me at [email protected].

Hi there Fellow Triathletes….....We have some great News !!!

As our 4th annual Rogue River Triathlon is quickly approaching we would like to gratefully acknowledge all the incredible support we continue to receive as we prepare for our best-ever event! The key to any success is to continue to improve any part that needs to be made better! We are able to do that this year because of the generosity of people in Agness, Gold Beach and all of Curry County. How inspiring to know how many people and businesses embrace and support not only wellness, but the Agness Volunteer Fire Department and the Agness Community Library - recipients of every dollar that is raised!

We Thank you, thank you, thank you Rotary Club of Gold Beach, Curry Health Network, Coos Curry Electric Cooperative, Inc., Gold Beach Physical Therapy, Leslie Keating with Interior Coverups and Michael & Liz Rabino. Your support has made possible the upgrading of our Bike Corral bike racks so that they will handle the weight of this unique event’s growing number of bicycles.

Color us thrilled – We are doin’ our happy dance!!!!!
