It's been a beautiful wedding season so far and it seems more people are choosing to hang the vintage stained glass windows as a backdrop in the open air chapel. You can also choose from a large wooden cross, any of your own decorative touches or nothing but the natural beauty of the lilacs and snowball bush behind the chapel!

One of the things that makes The Barn at Monterey Valley unique is that there is a story behind just about everything here. Our latest project has been repurposing these beautiful rusty cast iron tree grates that were once around the trees downtown Allegan. We think they are a great addition!

Mr. & Mrs. DeHaan | A Summertime Wedding at The Barn at Monterey Valley in Allegan, Michigan - ariellepeters.com
Katelyn & Alex’s story goes way back. Like, far, far back! All the way to kindergarten! These two met when they were just starting school. After years of being in each others classes and growing their friendship, they started dating in high school. Now, eight years later, they finally got to celeb...
Congratulations Evelyn and Luke! It was a beautiful day and a beautiful wedding! Love the "sneak peek"!
Our latest project using the cast iron tree grates bought from the City of Allegan! A fence a long the sidewalk going to the Pond House, the brides dressing room!
We've had a busier than usual spring here in Monterey Valley. All the work has been worth it though because the end result is we have a new, much larger GROOM'S ROOM! It was a lot of fun to design and decorate. It even has its own lighted patio, complete with a fence made from cast iron tree grates from the City of Allegan. The tree grates weren't the only thing we repurposed. A l970 Schwinn Tandem Bicycle is now a "one of a kind" patio table. There are a lot of unique touches both inside and out. It's already been a big hit with the guys. Bonus for us making them a new space, we got one too! We've turned what was the groom's room into a bigger and more comfortable office! With all the new additions and the lifting of covid restrictions, to say the least, we are looking forward to a great wedding season!!
Thank you so much Clare, it certainly was our pleasure working with you and your family. We're so glad we met your expectations. Yours was the first wedding of the 2021 season for us and the start of our 8th year hosting weddings, proms and other events. We have learned a lot a long the way. We don't just rent a space, our staff is always on hand to offer any necessary services to make your day run smoothly. Also happy that the guys loved our new addition of a larger groomsmen space. We're really pleased with how it turned out. (Just want to finish up a few details before we post photos for everyone to see!) You were a stunning bride and thank you so much for your recommendation and for choosing us for your most special day!

What do you find at the end of the rainbow? Apparently, it's The Barn at Monterey Valley!😊
With the sun shining bright this morning, I just can't get enough of the Fall colors here in Monterey Valley. Who said you had to go "up north" for a color tour?😊
If Fall colors aren't "peak" yet, they sure must be close here in Monterey Valley! This weekend was ideal Fall weather for a wedding!
Lots of blue sky and the beginning of fall colors in Monterey Valley today! 10-07-2020
First day of Fall 9-22-2020. Signs of the changing seasons in Monterey Valley!
Thank you Tricia Brummel for sharing these lovely images with us from Katie and Josh's BIG DAY last year. Here's hoping that the fall colors will be just as stunning in 2020 as they were in 2019. Fall is definitely in the air.🥰🍂🍁 https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10163272067555263&type=3
It's still summer but you can feel the change of seasons in the air in Monterey Valley!
Birds On A Wire! Mosquito's have never been a problem here in Monterey Valley. I have a feeling these Barn Swallows deserve some credit for that (I counted over 70 of them)!😊
Monterey Valley in all of it's summer beauty!

The weekend weather was beautiful and it would have been perfect for a wedding! Sadly, they have had to be postponed for the moment, but we want you to know that we're anxious to get back to having couples say their vows and celebrate with family and friends here at The Barn at Monterey Valley! With the Japanese Iris's in bloom along with many other flowers and shrubs, the grounds are ready too for your guests to enjoy with plenty of room for "social distancing"!😊
Looks like we just might be getting closer to the day that the dance floor can once again be used for dancing, rather then a spot in the sun for a sleeping dog!😊
Sadly, there is a lot of chaos and unrest going on out in the world today on this last day of May. Thankfully, here at The Barn at Monterey Valley, it is a absolutely beautiful and peaceful day! Though we're not allowed to hold weddings at this time due to government restrictions with covid, we've been busy getting ready for when we get the go ahead. For now, we're excited to show off another option for a backdrop to the open air chapel! We found two vintage stained glass windows that were salvaged from a bungalow in Chicago. We framed them and hung them from the back of the chapel. Options are always nice and you can choose to have these hung, a large wooden cross or just the beautiful blooming shrubs as the backdrop for your vows. With every week that goes by, new perennials are blooming. Today it's the gorgeous poppies with the Japanese Iris's just beginning to bloom. It would be hard to find a more beautiful setting for a wedding!
Monterey Valley is blooming! Just in time for, what would have been, our first wedding of the season tomorrow! Sadly, because of covid-19, it has been postponed to a later date. It's May 8th, and we're getting anxious to start spring planting of annuals but with a cold wind blowing today and freezing temps forecast for the weekend, we're going to have to be patient. We've been very busy the last few weeks and we'll be ready to start the season whenever we get word that we're allowed. Hopefully, it will be sooner rather then later! In the meantime, enjoy the blossoms in the valley!
It's a snowy spring day, but it won't keep the flowers from beginning to bloom in Monterey Valley! One sure sign that spring is here is the fish becoming active and hungry after a long winter. With all that's going on in the world, it's been a far from normal spring, but we are proceeding and getting ready for word from the powers that be, that we can safely open for the season. Please know we are looking forward to our 7th season of welcoming couples and their families and friends as they celebrate one of the most important days of their lives!
With all the crazy things happening in the world right now, Monterey Valley is still a beautiful and peaceful place this morning, though it does look like the geese got the message about social distancing. Hang in there everyone, this too will pass and we'll be ready!
