Robert Shaw was once asked how he could conduct the same music over and over, night after night. Shaw's answer was something to the effect of, "I conduct for two people in the audience--the person who is hearing this music for the first time, and the person who is hearing it for the last time."

How the Skagit Valley Chorale Learned to Sing Again Amid Covid

This article was in the New York Times Magazine this past week. We have all heard about this chorus which had multiple members fall ill with Covid after a rehearsal Two members died.

Try to listen to their concert as well. Members share their feelings about singing alone, and those of us who participated in the virtual “And the Glory of the Lord” can sure identify with those feelings!

I hope you can find time to read this and listen to their concert And, I miss you all, and I can’t wait for when we can all sing together.

A year ago, their rehearsal was one of the first documented superspreader events. But tragedy and isolation couldn’t keep their voices apart.

I sing with the Camerata Singers, and we haven’t been able to get together for a year now. We would have presented Messiah at Christmas, but it wasn’t possible.

Luckily, one of our singers, Joanna Lovell, is a technology specialist, and she put together a virtual “And the Glory of the Lord.”

So, here is our debut virtual performance

Contact Camerata

Currently, the CDC has advised that it is unsafe to sing in crowds. First and foremost, the Camerata Singers values the health and wellness of our singers, audience members, and orchestra above all else. Therefore, we have made the heartbreaking decision to forgo the Fall 2020 Season.

That said - we still want to interact with our audience! We are currently exploring different opportunities for us, the Camerata Singers, to continue to bring music and joy into your heart.
