The new barn is not the only improvement we did this year. #gcffy just upgraded all of our oldest campsite electrical. Now every campsite will have at least 30 AMP service. #michiganfairs
This morning almost 500 youth exhibited hand-crafted projects at #gcffy. Get your very own project at the 2019 GCFFY hand-crafted original project which will be held at 4:30 p.m., Sunday, July 28 in the fair’s Covered Arena. Everything from benches to barn quilts to mouthwatering food items can be bought. Visit http://gcffy.org/auctions.html for more information and to download your own copy. #michiganfairs
This afternoon was a very special time at #gcffy. With the snip of the scissors we officially opened Barn L in the company of some of the over 80 donors to the Come Grow With Us Campaign. The generosity of these people, foundations and businesses helped us construct this beautiful new barn, purchase new livestock pens and a new livestock scale. Stop by the fair starting next week to see our new facility.... and there is wood from the original construction of both the former Beebe Beef and Ashley Ithaca Barns inside on the donor board. #michiganfairs @ Gratiot County Fair for Youth
If you are showing at the fair, you will want to check out the #gcffy FAQ section. There is a lot of great information to make your 2019 GCFFY the best possible. #michiganfairs

These tickets are good for unlimited rides for one rider any day the carnival is open between Monday, July 29 through Saturday, August 3. This is half the price of the regular wrist bands rate. On Saturday, July 13 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. fair volunteers will provide pullorum testing and rabbit tattooing for our fair exhibitors’ project animals at no cost. In order to show a poultry project bird (all birds eligible to show in #gcffy classes are considered poultry) the State of Michigan requires them to have a negative official test for Salmonella pullorum-typhoid within 90 days before the fair and as such MUST be tested negative before arriving at the fair. Similarly any rabbit who exhibits at the fair MUST have a legible ear tattoo for identification. The fair’s poultry superintendent, Clay Mills and rabbit superintendent, Jeniffer Kelly will be on hand to do this for our exhibitors. Furthermore if there are any exhibitors who want help with RABBIT showmanship, Jeniffer will have volunteers to help guide fair exhibitors through the showmanship process.
Families who have POULTRY who cannot attend the July 13 date have one other time to test their birds on Sunday, July 21 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the fair’s Small Animal Barn. Those who cannot make either day can arrange a farm visit (at a cost) by contacting the superintendent.#michiganfairs

Let’s celebrate our nation today. It isn’t just that our nation turns 243 today but that a group of men from incredibly different backgrounds came together and agreed to work together to form a new nation. As you are spending time with your family making memories, blasting off fireworks and completing your last #gcffy fair projects, take a moment to reflect on an idea that is as strong in 2019 as it was in 1776. The fair office will be closed until Monday, July 8. #michiganfairs
What could be more fun than riding a donkey at #gcffy? Nothing!!! So put together a team of four and sign up for the 2019 Consumers Energy Donkey Bash on Monday, July 29 at 6:30 p.m. in the fair’s horse arena. Registrations are first come first filled until all ten teams have been completed so hurry up and grab your @$... er… donkey and get signed up today. Registration forms at gcffy.org. #michiganfairs
This is your last chance to get your name in the new barn at #gcffy as a donor to the Come Grow With Us Campaign. All donors regardless of size will be recognized on a handcrafted donor board created from the original wood used to construct the former Ashely Ithaca Livestock and Beebe Beef Barns. Donating is easy. Visit gcffy.org or stop by the fair office. Hurry name plates will be ordered on Wednesday. The board pictured lists all of the donors who gave to the 2010 fair office campaign. #michiganfairs

Have you ever wondered how you can get your name on a #gcffy road sign? Roads are auctioned off during the annual fair road sign auction WHICH IS STILL HAPPENING TONIGHT at The Fields Golf Course. The auction will start after the fair's Appreciation Dinner at 5:00 p.m. Signs will remain displayed at each road intersection until the 2020 road signs are displayed next summer. In the past roads have ranged in price from $150 to over $1,000 though it is an auction so any bid will be appreciated. Roads will be sold by the number on the graphic above. Each intersection (green diamond on the graphic) will have a sign. There are at least 2 intersections on each road and some roads have up to 7 intersections. The highest bidder will have their name on every one of those intersections. If you cannot come but would like to place a bid, contact the fair office by 3:00 p.m. at (989) 466-5071 or email [email protected] until 5:00 p.m. Let us know your maximum bid amount and if you have a preference of a road to bid on and we will try to get your name on our signs around the fair office. #michiganfairs @ Gratiot County Fair for Youth

Gratiot County Fair for Youth family lost one of its own this past Saturday and is mourning the loss of Lindsay Jerome. Lindsay grew up exhibiting at #gcffy and grew into an accomplished equestrian. Lindsay and her horse Turner became an incredible team who were hard to beat. When Lindsay aged out of the fair, she continued to come back to the fair as a volunteer helping behind the scenes at the horse show. Lindsay always had a smile to share, and laughter was her perfect kind of medicine.
GCFFY is teaming up with volunteers and alumni from Lindsay’s 4-H Club, the Kountry Kids, to install an equine themed art piece in memory of Lindsay. The hope is to inspire future exhibitors to love horses while remembering Lindsay.
Anyone wanting to contribute is asked to direct their donation to Gratiot County Fair for Youth (GCFFY) at 701 S. Lincoln Ave., Alma, MI 48801 or call (989) 466-5071 for a credit card donation. Please provide the name(s) as you would want them listed, the address which the receipt may be mailed, and any special instructions. GCFFY will let Lindsay’s family know of the donations. GCFFY is a 501(c)(3) public charity. #michiganfairs
It is fun to see exciting events happening at #gcffy. Last weekend was the Gratiot County 4-H Small Animal Show and this weekend is the Horse Camp which helps our horse exhibitors learn to be better horse exhibitors. Thanks to the support of a very generous Gratiot County community the fair does not have to charge the groups and committees who put on these educational events. #michiganfairs
