A Studio History DuHadway Dance Dimensions began as Linda Lee Dance Studio. Linda Lee Abbott was the owner of the studio. She started teaching dance lessons in the living room of the house at 713 Third Ave. when she was 18 years old. The holes from the dance barres are still in the hard wood floors in our living room. In the 1960’s, two dance studios, one on top of the other, were added onto the back of the house. It was used as the main studio space for over 40 years. Jillian began teaching for Linda Lee when she was a junior in college at CMU in 1989. She taught for two years and left the studio to finish her teaching degree. Before leaving she talked with Linda Lee about purchasing the studio after she and Rob were married. At that time, the studio was promised to another buyer. In the spring, before Rob and Jillian were married, Jillian received a letter from Linda Lee. The letter told them that the studio was still available. Jillian literally fell down on her parents kitchen floor. She still keeps that letter, that came in a pretty purple envelope, in a drawer in their home. Summer 1992 was very exciting as Jillian graduated from college, Rob and Jillian were married in August and moved into the house/studio one week later. The studio opened its doors in September with about 120 students. Linda Lee stayed on and worked hand in hand with Rob and Jillian for three years as they struggled to learn and grow to keep the business going. An opportunity presented itself in 1994. A dance and gymnastics studio in Ithaca became available and the DuHadway’s saw it as a way to grow their business and serve more young dancers in Central Michigan. A relationship with Miss Barb began in 1994 when Rob and Jillian purchased the Ithaca studio. Barb Lowe was on the staff with the previous owner so we “inherited” her. DDD is truly blessed to still have her on staff today. Rob took over running a gym with uneven bars, vaulting horse, Olympic size balance beam and floor area while Jillian kept a staff to run the dance studio. The business was very small with approximately 30 dancers, but the DuHadways were determined to make it work. After two years, they decided to sell off the gymnastics equipment due to high insurance premiums and lack of quality instructors in the area. Their focus would be on dance – just dance. That is what they do best and where they planned to focus all of their energy. DuHadway Dance continued in Ithaca on the third floor dance studio on Center St. In 1999, they expanded the Ithaca studio to include a large dance studio space that once housed the gym. Classes started being moved from Alma to Ithaca as the studio began to grow at a rapid rate. DuHadway Dance Dimensions continued to grow and evolve into the new millennium. Spring 2005 brought the decision to consolidate the two studio locations into one large studio complex. The search was on for the ideal location. We found the perfect space in the rear of the Northtown Plaza in Alma. The large space we use for our studios today had been a fitness center. With the help of many studio families, renovations began in August of 2005 and we opened our doors in October 2005. Over the past 10 years we have added hip hop and tumbling programs, survived an economic depression, made a successful facility move, raised our two children and are proud to share an amazing staff and facility with our community and many guest artists each year. DuHadway Dance Dimensions has one of the finest studios in the State of Michigan.

Today DDD celebrates Paige Myers.

Paige is a graduate of Shepherd High School and has participated in ALL forms of dance that DDD offers. She has brilliant stage presence, is a favorite teacher assistant and an Elite team member. The DDD staff describes Paige as "someone who leads by shining example".

Paige has paired extremely high academic standards with a 5 day per week dance schedule and excels in all areas of her life. DDD is so proud of Paige and we are excited to see where her future plans take her.

Here is some information she sent us to share with DDD families:

I have been dancing for 13 years and have been on the Elite team for 10 years.

My favorite dance memory is watching my other teammates solos from the wings and cheering them on with everyone.

I would like to thank my parents for always being at every performance and supporting me and allowing me to do this. I would also like to thank the DDD staff for always believing in me when I didn’t believe in myself and always pushing me to do better. And thank you to my fellow team members and friends for making me laugh, encouraging me, and always being there. Also for making these years on this team what they were, AMAZING!

In the fall I will be attending Northern Michigan University to major in Biology with a focus in Zoology.

Today, DDD celebrates Hayley Cary.

Hayley is a graduate of Alma and has participated in Ballet, Tap and Jazz classes during her years dancing. During high school she chose to keep ballet and jazz in her life
while being an accomplished equestrian club member and very active with FFA.

Here is some information she shared with us:

I've been dancing for 14 years

My favorite dance memory was going to class after school and being with my friends that I see once a week and always having a good laugh with everyone in the studio

DDD is very proud of Hayley and we wish her the best as she continues to make her mark on the world.

Today, DDD celebrates Rose Goltz.

Rose is a graduate of Montabella High School. Her role at DDD extends to participating in ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop and tumbling classes, an outstanding teacher assistant and an Elite team member. DDD has always loved the amazing energy that Rose brings to everything she does. Her dedication and commitment in all aspects of her life are not easily matched.

Here is some information she sent us to pass along to DDD families:

I have been dancing for 13 years, 9 on the elite team.

My favorite style of dance is contemporary. One of my favorite dance memories was during the Nutcracker. The little kids always like to come into the circle. In fact, one year a little kid decided to run around screaming “beep beep.” It was so hard for everyone not to laugh and keep in character.

I would like to thank my mom for coming to every performance. Even when she got into an accident and was in a wheel chair, she came to watch me dance. Thank you to my dad for always supporting me and my choices. And thank you to all my friends, team members, and the DDD staff for pushing me harder each day to become the best I could be. I wouldn’t have the ability to keep pushing through when things get hard to achieve my goals without you. I’m the fall I will be attending Northern Michigan University to major in Human Physiology.

On this first day of June, DDD celebrates Sarah McCrackin.

Sarah recently graduated from Carson City High School where she successfully blended her 5 day per week dance schedule with high academics and was a state qualifier in both track and cross country. DDD is so proud of Sarah and we know she will continue to do great things as she shares her beautiful smile and talents with the world.

She sent us this information to share with our DDD families:

I’ve been dancing at Duhadway for 14 years and been on the Elite team for 8 years.
My favorite memory was getting to dance with my best friends our senior year.
I would like to thank the staff of DDD and Miss Jillian for guiding me through these past years. Thank you Miss Aubrey and Miss Kalie for working with me on my solos. To my family, thanks for supporting my dancing and always coming to my performances. I’d also like to thank everyone I’ve danced with and especially the Class of 2020 for pushing me to be better and being an influential part on my time on the team.
I plan to attend Grand Valley State University this fall for Marketing and Sociology.

Today DDD celebrates Emma Buschle.

Emma is a recent graduate of Alma High School. Her love of dance and life shines through daily at DDD. She is a teacher assistant, Elite team member and ALWAYS works to the best of her ability while dancing, performing and being a all around great leader. Your DDD family could not be more proud to have you as a representative of our studio family!

Here is some information she sent us to share with our DDD families.

15 years dancing at DDD, 11 on the elite team
Favorite style- contemporary and ballet

One of my favorite dance memories from this year was winning the “Judges Pick” at NYCDA and getting to re-perform Beetlejuice in the showcase. It was an honor have our dance recognized by the inspiring judges at NYCDA and so much fun to perform it for the massive showcase crowd.

I would like to thank my family for supporting me at every recital, competition, and performance. Without their support I never would have found my passion for dance. I would also like to thank the staff at DDD for believing in me from the beginning and always pushing me to become a better version of myself. I am so grateful to have learned from such a talented and caring group of people. Lastly I would like to thank my best friends, the class of 2020, for always making me smile and for working incredibly hard for our team. To Rose, Lexi, Paige, Sarah, and Danielle- there is no group of girls I would have rather grown up alongside than you five.

In the fall I will be attending Grand Valley State University to double major in Dance and Marketing!

TODAY DDD Celebrates Danielle Weller.

She recently graduated from St. Louis High School. Danielle is a great leader at DDD working as a teacher assistant, dancing as a member of our Elite competition team, balancing several extracurricular school activities and ALWAYS having a smile to share🥰 She sent us this information to share with you:

I have been dancing at DDD for 10 years.

My favorite dance memory is when I was in 8th grade and the “older girls” invited me and others for a couple sleepovers at the DuHadway’s house. We watched movies and performed “The Role Call Song” for them many times. I am so glad we had such great role models and it definitely has gotten me and others to where we are now.

I have to thank everybody in my family for being so incredibly supportive. Not many families support dance fully, but my family has always been there for competitions and any other performances. I obviously have to include the incredible staff at DDD. They have truly been a family to me and have supported me through everything... and I mean everything. Thank you for pushing me to be my best always and never giving up on me.

I plan to attend Grand Valley State University as a dance major. I will also be pursuing a new dream, which is nursing! I hope one day to become a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner.

CONGRATULATIONS Danielle. Your DDD family is very proud of you. Your beautiful spirit will remain at DDD to inspire dancers and our teaching staff for years to come.

DDD dancers doing GREAT things. Dancers are some of the busiest people on campus, but have learned the art of time management and goal setting with the help of their dance education. Congrats Marissa.

DDD celebrates Brianna Green. Brianna recently graduated from Fulton High School. She has danced at DDD for 13 years taking tap, jazz, hip hop and ballet. Tap has become her personal favorite style. She sent us some info to share:

I look forward to recital every year, as it is always always a new and fun experience for me.

I thank my family and friends for supporting me every step of the way through dance, especially when I doubted myself. And a special thank you to my dance family at Duhadway for teaching me and supporting me through my dance career the past 13 years. I could not have done it without them.

I plan to start my nursing career at Lansing Community college this fall and transfer to a University in hopes of becoming a labor and delivery nurse.

We are SO PROUD of you Brianna. Congrats!!!

Receiving the copied email below brought me to tears. We are so proud and continue to be hopeful that a year end finale will not have to be canceled for DDD. Too many wonderful events have been lost due to what is happening in our world. It has been our intention from the beginning to FIGHT for a recital most especially for our 11 graduating seniors. Most of these amazing ladies have been with us for 12-15 years. We are here for you and will continue to provide everything we can.

"We in the _________ family appreciate you guys and everything you have done ! You are amazing teachers, role models and people. We are so blessed to be part of the DDD family . This time is creating learning curves and new adventures for everyone. We have been happy . Anything you decide for recital and classes we are on board for !

Thank you. You are appreciated!!"

Looking for a VCR player. For those of you who don't know what that is please disregard this message😉. I am told that now that walking season is coming to an end I am going to get fat and grouchy if I don't exercise😞. Problem is that all my exercise videos are on VCR tapes (yes, I am old!!). And my VCR player died. It's only about 40 years old, go figure. If anyone has a VCR player laying around and would like to sell please let me know. Thanks, Jerry( aka-the Voice)
