The 2020 Lone Star Cowboy Poetry Gathering was a truly successful event because of all of you. We are thankful for Sul Ross State University and the ability to use Marshall Auditorium for multiple sessions last February.

In light of the fact we aren't all in Alpine this weekend, we hope that you will take a little time to watch "Keeping the Tradition Alive," an 81-minute film capturing the lives, music, and ranches of poets and musicians who love the West. Tickets are available at https://lonestarcowboypoetry.com/faqs/index.html.

Coffee’s hot n’ thick n’ tastes grand.
A raw cold wind’s blowin’ around.
Glad there’s calves in the lot to brand,
But do wish things ‘ud all slow down.
Jus’ give us time for another cup,
To sit and cite a new verse n’ tune
From all the dust hard work stirred up,
‘Cause the Gather’n ‘ill be back soon.

Finally headed your way! Tickets are now available to Keeping the Tradition Alive, an 81-minute film produced for us this year by John and Erika Moore. Filmed on location in West Texas and New Mexico, it showcases poetry from Joel Nelson and music by Dale Burson, R.W. Hampton, Randy Huston, and Rod Taylor. These are not stage performances. Between songs and poems these men talk directly with each other or John and Erika about topics near to their hearts: becoming cowboys, training horses, surviving horse wrecks, finding water, and living life in the West. We can't wait for you to see it! Tickets are available on our website https://lonestarcowboypoetry.com/tickets/index.html. #visitalpinetx
