Starting a Walk/Run Program Week 9

In this episode we discuss the importance of warming up and cooling down before heading out the door on a run. We discuss why it is important, how it helps our running, and give suggestions on the types of activities to include. All too often we neglect a proper warm up and cool down at the expense of more mileage, but we may be setting up ourselves for greater injury risk and potentially missing out on important physiological adaptations.

In this episode I also recap my 9th week after a debilitating hip injury and describe my running and workout routines to help me get back to running fitness. I am excited to announce that the journey back to continuous running is almost complete. If everything goes to schedule, I will be running continuously by the end of next week. Feel free to watch my previous episodes to follow along the journey and I hope that by watching these videos you can be motivated in your running journey.

Starting a Walk/Run Program Week 8

In this episode we discus some basics of strength training and how it can be beneficial to us as runners. Strength training is by no means the main modality of training for runners, but it should not be neglected as it provides us with the essential foundational movements to improve our running capacity. Strength training should not look the same for everybody as we each move differently and exhibit unique movement patterns as we function throughout life. If you need help figuring out how to approach strength training and incorporate it into your running routine, feel free to give us a call.

I also recap my 8th week rehabbing my hip injury, and am proud to announce that I am currently on schedule to finish the walk/run progression by the end of next week. In this episode I touch on some knee pain that popped up and how I modified my workouts to allow me to train through the problem.

I hope you find these video's beneficial, and if you like what we are doing please like the video. Be sure to check out our new You Tube channel specifically designed for runners that was launched at the end of last week.

Thoroughly satisfied with my therapy.
Cheri and I’ve been working with Lee Hatfield for 6 weeks now. We can see a huge difference in the way we look, the way we feel and in our overall health. As our trainer, Lee continues to motivate and educate us. If you’re wanting to get fit, don’t wait! Call Lee. You’ll be amazed.
Thanks for the tickets, Michael!
Love these guys.
I’ve enjoyed therapy, but more importantly I enjoyed the staff. They work hard to make sure your needs are met. I was in a lot of pain and the staff helped me to go to feeling better. I will still need some therapy, but I couldn’t have done it without the staff. Good job all of you!!
Michael and Lee did a great job relaxing my shoulder and strengthening my leg so my knee doesn't hurt (unless I wear high heels) anymore. I couldn't be more pleased.
Went in to TPT with severe headaches caused by neck and shoulder problems. Worked with Lee Hatfield for several sessions and headaches have been drastically reduced in severity and number of occurrences. Also now have better flexibility from lower back up through shoulder and neck area. Headaches have been quite disabling for over five years and had previous gone to several other doctors, surgeons, PT's and even the Mayo clinic with no success. Lee is awesome to work with and is the best I've ever experienced at explaining the what's and why's of each exercise. Great personality and you will soon feel like you've known him all your life. Had interactions with several others at TPT and all were very friendly and caring. Highly recommend this facility.
Thanks to Total Physical Therapy and Michael Moore for helping keep me injury free for 2 more states.
I have been to TGT for a variety of physical therapy including torn rotator cuff and most currently, Vertigo. They have always been very professional while making the experience fun. My PT Lee Hatfield is excellent in explaining what the challege is and helping me feel like I’m making progress. All the therapists are great and give you full attention. I would highly recommend Total Physical Therapy to anyone!!
I think I have excuses to have more physical therapy. I may see you soon.
