We had the pleasure of visiting Jennifer Morris and her Esquire daughter a few weeks back. This special filly has defied the odds and is thriving beautifully.

It was unknown that her mother was carrying twins. She had been checked however there was no sign of another foal. Fast forward to foaling and SURPRISE......there was a second foal delivered who appeared to not have developed much past a 6-7 month gestation.

This bay beauty however not only survived the pregnancy with her sibling and being born tiny, she has survived anything and everything else that she has had to endure. She even has a new buddy ~ a orphan calf

It’s important to research a pedigree ‘before’ you add another broodmare to the program. When you choose a mare whose pedigree has been successful with producing the goal your program strives to produce, you add a certain something special that can catapult your goals.

Take a moment and look at this photo. What do you see?

For me, I see an athlete with a great hind leg who is quite forward. Add to that the amount of research done and it was an easy decision to add our last SWB mare to our group.

What a nice nice horse Finn’s big brother Quinn is. Maridee you absolutely bred a good one!

Coincidence?? We don’t think so!

Back in 2005 Esquire was named SHN Top Ten Stallion. He missed Reserve Champion by all of 3/10 point out of a class of 33 stallions. There were two judges that year, one being Gail Hoff.

Fast forward 5 years and we had the opportunity to acquire a Swedish Warmblood Mare for our Sport Horse breeding program. And her breeder is??? Yes, Gail Hoff! We had been unaware!

And to the current broodmare band, another Swedish Warmblood was added to our group. Her sire was bred by Gail!

Then recently there was yet another Swedish mare that joined our breeding program. This mares sire who was bred by Gail Hoff happened to be a full sibling to our very first Swedish Warmblood mare.

And while Gail did not breed her, she did have a chance to judge her as a youngster. And from the looks of it based on her cards, she liked Maybelline quite a bit. Again, we had no idea.

Point is ~ Believe it or not, there are no such things as coincidence!!! ☺️

When I share glimpses of some of th’E’ family members it’s totally due to being so so very proud. Proud not only of the horse but their owner(s) as well!

While we strive to only sell breedings and Esquire kids to individuals that have all good intentions of retaining the youngster, it does not always work out that way. It is when the youngster has to change zip codes we kick it into high gear. Thus the case with the handsome youngster pictured here.

The story of this Esquire kid started off a little bumpy when his breeder had sold his dam in foal. The colt was born at a time when the then owner was dealing with major life changes in her job which affected her income. The colt was sold right at weaning to someone who purchased him as a 'pet', yes, that's right, a 'pet' for her then 5 year old son. Of course Mr. Handsome did not learn to be a horse being the only one or did he learn about manners :(

Fast forward a few years and Mr. Handsome became available on Craigslist. My very worst fear. I was ill to my stomach. So high gear it was. It wasn't too long after I began to work diligently that he found his way to a new zip code with a great individual. Unfortunately she became ill a few years later and Mr. Handsome was available again......sigh.......Back in high gear we went!

Mr. Handsome had went from California to Arizona to New Mexico to Texas at this point. His next trip Mr. Handsome landed in what has been his 'forever' zip code and we could not be happier.

The picture below is in fact Mr. Handsome, aka 'Bailey', aka 'Baileys Khaffe Latte'. He has several young ladies that adore him and quite the fan club. Mr. Handsome has come so very very far and truly has learned to be a horse and what it means to work under saddle nicely as well.

This friends is why we stay in touch and encourage all of th'E' family members to connect. While we may not live close to one another, see one another often, show together, etc. ~ we all are joined together by a common interest........owning and loving an Esquire kid. We are there for one another ~ forever and always!!!

I will invite and encourage those that have played a integral part in Mr. Handsome's journey to share here their own personal experiences. It will I am sure be a great read for all!

Yeah well, none of th’E’ kids have this problem. In fact they usually have enough mane and tail for two or three horses 😱😱😱

Does your horse have a thin or rubbed out mane? Do you need to be able to band your horses mane and wish it was thicker or more even?
Never fear! Plait Booster is here!! #notjustforplaits

A beautifully banded mane enhances a horses neck and shows off well developed muscles.
Thin or rubbed out manes are a frustration for many of us, me included, which is why NTR Plait Booster was created.

In this video I'll show you how to put in false hair to boost your bands.\

Adding in the NTR Plait Booster is a great way to achieve fuller bands. You can choose how much hair to add in, allowing you to easily customise how much hair each section needs.

Available in 8 different colours:

•Black
•Dark Brown (for liver chestnuts)
•Dark Chestnut (for mid to dark chestnuts)
•Light Chestnut (for very light/bright chestnuts)
•Dark Grey
•Light Grey
•Flaxen
•White

If in doubt I recommend that you choose a shade that is slightly darker than your horses natural mane colour. Darker colours will stand out less and be less obvious that synthetic hair has been added.

70g each (approximately 30m). That's enough to boost up to 200 bands!!

Each roll comes in a resealable bag for storage.

This past weekend we loaded up both the human and horse girls. They will get to be together for a week before the human goes one direction for her career and the horse begins to start learning more about her future career as a performance horse.

As the breeder we are likely just as excited as her mom about what is to come. This filly is stamped with a great pedigree no matter which side you look at.

Her Arabian sire, HG Esquire, is well known across the 50 U.S. states and beyond for the exceptional athletes he sires. Their temperaments are sought out by owners and professionals alike.

Her Swedish Warmblood dam Sophie, full sibling to Miss Birdy and others whom have many wins/Championships in hand and as a Dressage and/or Jumping horses. Sophie has a few tests under saddle as well.

The remainder of this fillies dam line is nothing short of the “Who’s who” of Swedish Warmbloods. Her maternal grandsire L.A. Baltic Inspiration needs no introduction. He being a son of L.A. Baltic Sun and one of the first two Swedish mares brought to the states, L.A. Utrilla. Add to that the prominent Swedish Stallion Galapard to Leopard to Urbino.

Greatness abounds right here with these two. With not being restricted to just breed shows it is likely you just might get to meet both of these girls in a sandbox near you!!! Wishing you both much success 🥰

I had never seen this photo of Tenderfoot before and immediately knew it was her. Thank you Shelly for making your post that included this never before seen (by me) photo. Yet another photo I can cherish of one of the sweetest Arabian mares ever!?

For those that focus on Arabian bred breed shows in the Sport Horse disciplines:

Celebrating its 18th anniversary, this unique show is currently the only sport horse competition offered by a breed association. With around 120 different classes across three rings, including dressage, speed jumper, and carriage pleasure driving, the championship begins with working hunter and dressage in-hand and under saddle classes on Tuesday, September 22.

She’s so stinking cute 🥰

I’m sad to say I have not been able to see her in a bit but am grateful to her mom for sharing pictures and short cell phone clips.

This little twin who defied odds is maturing beautifully. What a pretty pretty filly she is!

If you mess up on your clip job!!

Clipping horses is definitely a skill that takes time to develop as it's not as easy as it looks. But the only way to develop those skills is to jump in the deep end and give it a go!
When you start it's not uncommon to end up with a finish that you're not 100% happy with. But it's not the end of world and it is often fixable, remember, it's only hair and it will grow back.

This video is a quick one to show you how to fix a clip. Hope it helps :) #horseclipping #howtofixaclip

On this night... 19 years ago 246 people went to sleep in preparation for their morning flights. 2,606 people went to sleep in preparation for work in the morning. 343 firefighters went to sleep in preparation for their morning shift. 60 police officers went to sleep in preparation for morning patrol. 8 paramedics went to sleep in preparation for the morning shift of saving lives. None of them saw past 10:00 am Sept 11, 2001. In one single moment life may never be the same. As you live and enjoy the breaths you take today and tonight before you go to sleep in preparation for your life tomorrow, kiss the ones you love, snuggle a little tighter, and never take one second of your life for granted.
It can all change in a blink.

When you breed true Sport Horses you’re not restricted to just one ring.

Pictured is the National Champion HG Esquire+ daughter GA E-Magination who is out of our foundation Swedish Warmblood mare L.A. Baltic Sunflower.

GCA & Sport Horses has perfected this cross with many National wins to support such. These are horses that the Amateur can enjoy and do extremely well. They also are horses that the professionals truly enjoy having in their barn. Sane brains, wise between the eyes, confirmation to hold up to be the athlete they were bred to be for many years, and really good to look at too!

We have a few select 2020 foals available to a discriminate individual who wants a partner they can enjoy and trust while on the way to the top. Inquire for specific details.

FEEL FREE TO SHARE:

So there is an old wives tale regarding when to wean. It is said to wean during the Full Moon.
There are many relative thoughts as to why this should be done. Do you have any thoughts or scientific reasoning behind the timing?

Would love to hear from other breeders on this subject!

I am watching Kayla Lamison with Gracie and Brielle Forgues with Zeke and I wish I was 10 years younger. I remember the joy of starting Player (GA E-khwaytor) he was so easy. He just said whatever you want. I see the same thing in Zeke and Gracie. Player and I have worked together for 10 years. We are really working well together. I wish we could have shown more this year, but... I am looking forward next year. Player continues to impress me with his ability to learn and grow as I continue to improve my skills. He truly was one of the best decisions I ever made.❤️❤️🐎
#tagthebreeder I am so happy to have an E baby and to watch her grow. This is my first experience with breeding and raising a baby. We have had some difficulties but are prevailing and it is so exciting to have a healthy baby who is so much fun and full of sass (but not in a bad way). She is super sweet and smart. This is a real joy, so glad that I chose Denise Browne Gainey's HG Esquire!
I love baby horses! Their curiosity, the cute faces, the clean slate you get to start with as you start their life's journey with you. I have started so many babies in my many years training horses and always fun and I have been privileged and blessed in the past few years to start a few HG Esquire kids and I can't say enough positive about them as individuals and the good traits their daddy has passed on to them! Starting a baby and making it into the partner you want is an experience that every horseman should experience at least once in their life. Taking this raw material and being successful in what ever discipline that is chosen is a feeling that is hard to explain! Taking the steps, one by one, being patient, understanding the foibles of the immature minds, celebrating the successes is something that is part of making you and your horse a team. I have two Esquire kids at the moment , one now 6 who was acquired as a yearling and another who was purchased in utero and is now two. Both amateur owners did not have experience in starting babies so they started the journey together. I also have tow other E boys, one who was a unstarted three year old and another who was well started when he arrived as a 6year old. My experience working with these guys made me understand the good brain Esquire puts on his get and the two younger ones have proven that again. Both have gone thru training process following the "book". learning and understanding what is asked and showing the talent we want for what we do! I realize not everyone has the wherewithal to start a baby from scratch but if you do I really recommend it and of course starting from E is a great place!
Congratulations on a job well done breeding Arabian/SWB sport horses and best wishes for the New Year!
A Christmas story with a happy 'E'nding: Once upon a time, a girl received the best Christmas present ever: an Arabian filly! The girl and the filly grew up together and had many adventures, and the filly taught the girl how to be a better horsewoman. In the blink of an eye, the filly was 27 years old, and the girl almost 40! The girl was sad that she had never bred her ❤️ horse, but then she met Denise at GCA & Sport Horses. Denise and her wonderful vet Carmen Franck Vaughan, DVM bred her beautiful mare Kool to the very handsome Esquire, and this year the girl received another very special Christmas present: GA E-Khwinox!
Ever had a Sore, Cranky or Lame horse? Biting or pinning ears while being saddled? Reluctant to being caught? Or hard to bridle? We all have if you've been into horses for a long time. What creates this? Did you know your horse should be rideable into their 30's? Perform into their 20's! This is information like you have never seen before! Please watch and share about what is really going on inside your horse. AND what you can do about it. Every horse I've seen has 1st rib out by 7 months of age. And this starts the high/low syndrome in front hooves. And most bodywork professionals do not know how to release it! This causes our training and behavioral issues as well as saddle fit issues. https://youtu.be/9hJ8xxqwHQY We are looking for barns wanting to host a 3 day clinic. https://youtu.be/CpXq04194Do
