Thoughts and Prayers are with the Floyd family

Anderson County Council and employees extend their deepest sympathies to the family of Gracie Floyd. Ms. Floyd passed away earlier this evening.

Gracie Floyd was elected to Council in 1999, after the death of her husband William Floyd. She was a champion for the residents of District Two and Anderson County.

The County flags will fly half-staff in honor of Ms. Gracie S. Floyd's legacy beginning Saturday.

Arrangements will be announced by the family.

It is a great day to donate money! For 2020, we will donate a total of $131,000 to various cancer charities. The C3 team is proud to partner with Cancer Association of Anderson and Prisma Health here in the Upstate in the battle against cancer. Cancer did not take a break during COVID and neither did C3 or our partners. The medical staff and service staff found new and inventive ways to keep providing life saving and life altering treatments and services. C3 helps them by providing funds for survivorship programs including nutrition classes, yoga, smoking cessation, wigs, support groups and transportation. We also help fund a 10 year cancer prevention program and, new for 2020, an internationally published COVID study.

Thank you to all our donors and sponsors. We could not do it without you! Special thanks to Prisma Health, BL Harbert International, TK Supply and Hawkins Towing, Inc. for sponsoring our ride.

The battle never ends until cancer is eradicated. You can help by joining us in the fight. Visit www.c3ride.org to donate or to learn more about participating.

Happy Montgolfier Day Everyone. 232 Years ago today, Man made his first flight (Over a century before the Wright Brothers)

On 21 November 1783, the first free flight by humans was made by Pilâtre de Rozier, together with an army officer, the marquis d'Arlandes. The flight began from the grounds of the Château de la Muette close to the Bois de Boulogne park in the western outskirts of Paris. They flew about 3,000 feet above Paris for a distance of nine kilometers. After 25 minutes, the balloon landed between the windmills, outside the city ramparts, on the Butte-aux-Cailles. Enough fuel remained on board at the end of the flight to have allowed the balloon to fly four to five times as far. However, burning embers from the fire were scorching the balloon fabric and had to be daubed out with sponges. As it appeared it could destroy the balloon, Pilâtre took off his coat to stop the fire.

Henry Rosenbaum from Virginia—
#liftingspiritsaroundtheworld I had the honor to fly my friend (retired Battalion Chief from Henrico County Division of Fire) Bob Clark and his wife Patsy Williams Clark. This was a special day to lift the spirits for all emergency responders. I took off next to Hanover Fire station #1 with the Move Over bannner in memory of Bob and Patsy’s son Brad Clark. Thank you......to all the emergency responders around the world for your protection and services you provide. To all that have given the ultimate sacrifice, we miss you

Thank you Henry and all that you have sacrificed ❤️
