The United States Air Force Band

Kerri-Elizabeth Robinson, co-concertmaster of our American Youth Concert Orchestra, was selected to perform an e-performance duet with a member of the Air Force Band! Great performance, Kerri-Elizabeth! 🎻

DUET INITIATIVE | Today we are thrilled to share with you our first string duet, featuring Kerri-Elizabeth from Montclair, VA. Kerri is 13 years old and has been playing violin for nearly 10 years! She is originally from South Portland, Maine, but moved to the D.C. metro area in the fall of 2019 when her family was reassigned to Joint Base Andrews with the Air National Guard. It didn't take long for Kerri-Elizabeth to settle into her new community - she is concertmaster for the American Youth Concert Orchestra. Additionally, she is a big fan of the Air Force Strings and has attended several of their concerts since moving to the area. For her duet, she has selected the first movement of "Concerto for Two Violins in D Minor" by J.S. Bach, which she will perform with Master Sgt. Luke Wedge.

Congratulations to the American Youth String Ensemble members for winning Middle School Grand Champion in the 2020 ASTA National Orchestra Festival! Six middle schools competed in the festival on Friday, March 6th in Orlando, Florida.

We are incredibly proud of our students, who played with artistry and finesse on a demanding program. We are so thankful to everyone who helped to make this happen: Laura Cahn and Doug Wallace for their superior artistic leadership, our wonderful chaperones who worked tirelessly to make sure the trip was a success, and to the American String Teachers Association for this tremendous opportunity.
