Last day vibes. ✌️&❤️
We are saddened by the news as Tasty Beverage Company - Asheville was our home for tournaments and more. We miss this place and much love to all the team members/staff.
To all of our patrons, friends, and neighbors:
It's with heavy hearts that we announce our time on Coxe Avenue is soon coming to a close. Unfortunately, we aren't the first or last business to make this kind of announcement, and sometimes hard work can't overcome outside factors. We've reached that juncture, and while it warrants grieving, that grief is inseparable from an overwhelming sense of gratitude.
We're grateful for all of our staff over the years that graced us with their lives, for all of the new friends we've met because of this space, for every person that was so important in helping us open here, for all of our supplier reps, and for every last person that chose to spend a dollar with us. We're grateful for all of the conversations and moments of laughter, friendship and fun that happened here.
There's a lot of uncertainty in the food & beverage industry, and that's amplified in a tourism based economy. It's amazing that we've had so many visitors from all over the country and globe these years, but for those of you that have been supporting us the past 6 months, words can't express how much you mean to us.
We'll still be business as usual for a couple of weeks while we liquidate as much inventory as we can. For the health and safety of our employees, their families, and you, the physical location will remain closed to the public, but everything on our website is 10% off for curbside pickup or delivery.
Maybe we'll see you somewhere else in town one day, but for now, thanks for everything, Asheville. We love all y’all. Be kind to yourselves and each other.
We miss you. #pingpong #ponglife #screwyoucovid19 #supportsmallbusiness #ashevillestrong

News coming out of Asheville.
News out of Asheville this morning.
North Asheville — Local man, Link Moran has been living in and managing his sinkhole property off Merrimon Ave. his entire life. For the first time in 13 years, Moran has been left with no choice but to find a long term renter for his place.
“My place has been at 100% occupancy for $225/night as a vacation rental for the last decade, “ Moran said. The longtime resident revealed that many generations have lived down in the sinkhole. “In the early 1900’s, my family brought back loads of Ayahuasca from the jungles of Ecuador. So we’ve pretty much been doing that for the last 100 years or so.” He explained that when he heard about Airbnb, he felt like it was a great opportunity. “It was kind of my ‘YOLO’ moment. I decided to go for it, start wearing pants and I haven’t looked back.”
With the current restrictions among short term rentals, all of Moran’s income has gone away. “I can no longer afford to just get high and practice yoga all day. I’ll tell you what though, I've had some crazy ass times down here man.”
Moran revealed that in the late 90’s, he let a man named Don Lewis stay there for months. “Don kept on talking about his bitchy wife Carole. He was a real nice guy and courteous guest. I wonder what happened to him,” said Moran. By far, his favorite experience was when Bill Murray was lit on moonshine and kombucha, singing Jason Isbell covers. “Gosh, I wish Tik Tok existed back then,” he added.
Moran has listed his 1 Big Ass room and unlimited bathroom/bucket space online for $2000/month with a $2000 deposit and $4000(first and last month) required. “We actually don’t have WiFi or running water. When it rains, I’ve got a giant funnel that runs down to my shower head. So that’s when you would need to shower.” Moran also added that if the place does flood, he can prorate the rent, but it’s important that you put your valuables in a dry bag.
Regarding the flooding concern, Moran said that people stay here for the experience and that there’s a special kind of energy down here. “I’m not sure if that’s the 5G or Ayahuasca talking,” he added. “Quite frankly, that Facebook group is epic! This place is a National Treasure.”
This my friends is pretty rad.

It seems when you own a restaurant, you're almost always trying to fix one problem or another. The last month has been genuinely stressful times for Rebecca and I. Our restaurant located in such a public space; we started to see the slowdown earlier than most.
Yesterday, we temporarily laid off all of our staff, including Pedro, who has worked with us since day one. Erica, Annabelle, and Tino, who have been with us for over two years, and Yasmin and Rosa. I know its temporary, but we can't help but feel we are throwing them to the wolfs. They are our family, and it kills us that we have no way to keep them on. They all have families and loved ones to care for and support.
We have watched other restaurants around Asheville make the call to cut hours, close their dining room, or close altogether. Our hearts go out to all the owners, managers, and employees who are wondering how they will pay their rents and mortgages on April 1st. We are with you all; we are all the captains of our sinking ships.
We are changing our opening times from 12 pm to 8 pm daily for the next few days, we need to reduce our inventory. There is no seating available at the Asheville Mall. I have seen posts mentioning landlords who are understanding of the situation. The Asheville Mall is not one of them. We call on them to CLOSE THE SHOPPING CENTER!
Stay safe, and you can order pick-up or delivery at thedoneronline.com. Mitchell @ The Döner - German Street Food
If you can't get ping pong, you can at least try to go outdoors for some tennis. Much love to everyone during this time.
During this time, I would like to offer 3 FREE(1 per kid) 45 min individual tennis lessons per week for children that are not in school. This counts for this week(3/16) and next week(3/23)
1 on 1 Tennis sessions outside are probably one of the best outdoor sport options during this time.
I am also extending my winter deals to all new clients until April 1st. Half off your first lesson or 25% off packages too.
Be well, use good judgement and may we all support each other locally during this time.

Just an update from our ping pong partners at Tasty Beverage Company - Asheville. They are still doing pick up and/or delivery orders though. Be well folks, stay positive. We’re just going day to day and we’ll keep you posted about our originally scheduled tournament on 3/31.
"We have a pernicious virus that travels inside the healthy to sicken and kill the already fragile, and therefore requires that the healthy and strong deepen their moral commitments for the benefit of the sick and weak. We must learn to do good for the good of the stranger now. We now have to live as daily evidence that we believe there is value in the lives of the cancer patient, the elderly person, the disabled one, the ones in unthinkable living conditions, crowded and at risk." - Anne Boyer
Hey there Tastoids. First off, we're wishing you and your loved ones health, strength, and comfort in these trying times.
In the best interest of our team, our guests, and our city at large, we're closing to the public today, and we don't know for how long. It's clear we shouldn't be out drinking together right now.
***For now, we hope to still make your beverage dreams come true with pickup, curbside or delivery orders.***
We'll be sprucing up our website a little bit today, but please do take a look around, and don't hesitate to call the shop if we can make any recommendations, or be of any help at all. We'll be in touch more as things progress.
Still here? Consider supporting https://www.mannafoodbank.org/ if you're able. Nobody should be going hungry right now. If you can help your neighbors of the next few weeks, make sure they know you're there for them.
We've got this y'all. In solidarity and with love,

We are speechless after such an epic night at Wicked Weed Funkatorium last night for our Local Business Team Tournament. On an “iffy” weather day, we rocked out with 15 different businesses who all brought their pong skills to the test. In the end, the savvy and crafty veteran professors of Warren Wilson College were victorious(taking the prizes and The Golden Paddle) over New Belgium Brewing our 2019 Brewery champions. Shout out to The Funkatorium for hosting along with the prizes. Thanks again also to South Slope Coffee and Asheville Almond Company for throwing in some goodies. We can’t thank everyone enough for the good vibes. We appreciate the fact that you appreciate what we are doing. Don’t forget that we have all 8 of our tables at The Orange Peel on Monday. But until then, have a great weekend and maybe we’ll do another tourney like this sooner than later. 🏓🔥🍺🏆
