Hi everyone,
While we are not practicing together right now, please continue to practice your music so that we can pick up right where we left off when we all see each other again!

Here are a few reminders/tips:
1. At least 10 minutes of warm-up/buzz/long tones/lip slurs (guard-stretching and basics) a day- It will make the difference!
2. Listen to your show music! The more familiar that you are with it, the easier our job of making it come alive becomes!
3. Remember what we've rehearsed during camp and the last few evening rehearsals. Make sure that you are applying these concepts to your music/choreo, and practicing your parts the way they are going to be performed (phrasing, articulation, dynamics, posture, pointing toes, etc.). Make sure to make note of things you fix in your music/choreo cheat sheet with a pencil.

Here are some resources to help you out:
1. Please join the marching band remind (Parents AND students, please!) by texting the code @gbga3k to the phone number 81010. If any quick announcements need to be made, I will reach out this way. It also gives parents an easy way to ask quick questions if I'm not near my email.
2. After we discussed it at our last rehearsal, I have made a Google Classroom for Marching Band; this is a resource for students. I have already posted the pass-off assignments, and you can feel free to do those whenever you feel ready to. I will also post resources like recordings, band handbook, and any other files. To join, sign into your Google Account with your school email address, and go to Classroom. Click the plus button in the top right corner, and use the code: f6amafr. All students that are marching need to join this course. I will use this to send out Forms and collect input from you throughout the season.

Thank you all so much for your support of the CHS Band Program! If you have any questions, please reach out via email at [email protected]. Thanks, and GO COLTS!!!

Hello all,

I hope that this message finds you well. Unfortunately, we will be cancelling the remainder of summer activities for marching band, including pictures (which will be rescheduled). We have had a few students that have potentially been exposed to COVID-19. While we are still looking into the situation, we feel the risk is extremely low. Still, we feel that it is in everyone's best interest that we do not meet as a group for the next few days leading up to school. Additional modifications to our schedule will be given if needed, but at this time, please make sure that the decisions you are making are in the best interest of everyone's safety. Please continue to wear masks whenever around other individuals and avoid large group gatherings. I love and appreciate you all, and I will dearly miss seeing your faces over the next week or so. Currently, our plan is to start back rehearsals with our first after-school rehearsal on Tuesday, August 12 from 3:15-4:45. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out via email to either Miss Clouse ([[email protected]](mailto:[email protected])) or Mrs. Gray ([[email protected]](mailto:[email protected])).

Thank you so much for your understanding and support of the CHS Band Program.

Hi all,

The All-Call sent out was referring to summer programs offered by Limestone County, not referring to band/sports. Sorry for any confusion!

I have attached our Band Camp plan for the week of the 20. If there are any changes, I will let you know here and by announcing changes at rehearsals. Thank you all for your flexibility and understanding!!!

Bonner Springs 2016 1 School's Out

Hi all,

Great first rehearsal last night! I am so proud of all of the progress that we made in such a short amount of time, and I cannot wait to see how great the rest of our season will be! Please read the following information carefully for details about the coming week.

Recordings: Here are the links to the show music. Please listen to them and get a little more familiar with the music. Last night was a good start, but we still have a long way to go. Please make sure you are warming up and playing every day, and take a look at those sections that we had trouble with last night. I expect for us to sound and look better than we did at our last rehearsal, and that will not happen if you do not put in practice time between now and then!
School’s Out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r8coXSVSnmU
Runaway Baby: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6hD9vWQsGRg
Dream On: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=01PzcPKT3_E

No rehearsal this Thursday: We are not rehearsing tomorrow. Since I already promised you the evening off for the band banquet, I did not feel like it was fair to call rehearsal again. Please take this free time to practice technique, show music, routines, etc. Let’s set ourselves up for a great rehearsal next Tuesday from 6-8.

Rehearsal procedure: Great job following procedure at last night’s rehearsal. I appreciate you all taking the time to read and follow those instructions; this is helping us to keep our kids as safe as possible! However, this took a little longer than expected and we started rehearsal a little late. I will start opening the band room at 5:30 in order to make this go more smoothly. Please be early so that we can start rehearsal on time!!

Awards: Mr. Maurer will be stopping by rehearsal next week on Tuesday, and at the end will be giving out awards and saying goodbye. Because of this, Tuesday’s rehearsal may go a little later. Staying for awards is optional, but it will be a great time to say goodbye to Mr. Maurer and have a sweet treat with your band family! This should be wrapped up by 8:30 or so.

Uniform Fittings: Students who have not yet have their uniform fittings will be pulled by parent volunteers during Tuesday’s rehearsal.

Leadership Applications: If you are interested in being a student leader for the 2020 Marching Colts season, please fully read the leadership section in the handbook for detailed descriptions of each job. You may fill out the Google Form below and apply for as many positions as you would like to; please fill out a separate form if applying for more than one leadership position. I will make an announcement on the page on Monday. If selected to a leadership position, you are expected to attend Leadership Camp from 9 AM- 4 PM on Thursday-Friday of next week. We will get ready for Band Camp and talk about our goals for this coming season. APPLICATIONS ARE DUE BY SUNDAY AT 9 PM.

Contact: My school email address is now up and running! Please send any questions or concerns to my new address, [email protected].

Thanks so much, and have a great evening! I’m looking forward to another excellent rehearsal on Tuesday!!!

Best,
Miss Clouse

We have made the heartbreaking decision to cancel the 2020 band banquet. With the increase in Covid cases in Limestone County, we believe this decision is the right choice for the safety of our students. If you already purchased tickets, we will refund your money or you may apply it to band fees.

To our 2020 Seniors, we didn't want your year to end like this. Your boosters are making arrangements to deliver your senior banner and gift to you. As you begin a new chapter in your life, we wish you nothing but the best!

The Clements High School Band Boosters are excited to announce our new Pride of Clements High School band director, Ariel Clouse.

Miss Clouse is a native of Vernon, NJ and a graduate of Auburn University. She has spent the last three years teaching in the Alabama public school system. After graduating from Auburn (War Eagle!), she spent two years teaching K-12 band and general music in Talladega County at Fayetteville School. While there, Miss Clouse directed the marching band, concert band, intermediate band, beginning band, and pep band; in addition, she brought back a long-retired elementary music program for the K-5 students at the school. During her first year of teaching, she was honored to have been named Teacher of the Year. After her time at Fayetteville, she moved to Huntsville to be closer to family and took a job teaching middle school band and choir at the Academy for Science and Foreign Language in Huntsville, AL. While there, she had students participate in both district honor band and all-state choir. Miss Clouse is so truly excited and honored to be joining the Clements family this year and cannot wait for all of the amazing musical memories that we will be making throughout this school year and beyond!

Our 2020 Band Banquet will be held on July 9th. We know this is short notice, but it was the only day available that worked with our July schedule.

All 2019-2020 high school band members are invited to attend at no cost.

Parents/guardians and siblings in 6th grade and older, that reside at the same residence are welcome to attend with the purchase of a guest ticket.

7th grade band students and new color guard members are also invited to attend with the purchase of a guest ticket.

In order to comply with social distancing guidelines, extended family members and dates outside of the high school band will not be able to attend.

Tickets will be available for purchase for $20 at our meeting July 2 and at the first rehearsal July 7. High school band members can also pick up their complimentary ticket on those days.

If you plan on attending, please complete the survey so we can give Joe Wheeler a head count. The survey only needs to be completed once per family.

Hi all, Please read the attached document fully before tomorrow night's rehearsal. The band staff and boosters have been discussing the safest way to hold rehearsal, and we feel this is it. Please let me know if you have any questions by emailing my temporary email: [email protected]. Regarding the Banquet: We feel it is best to cancel for the safety our students and staff, as well as their families. We will not rehearse on Thursday evening. We are working on a digital awards ceremony to acknowledge all of the hard work that the students put in during the 2019-2020 school year. More details will be coming soon! Thank you so much for making the safety of our students and band staff your number one priority! I appreciate your flexibility and understanding. Students- I am looking forward to seeing you tomorrow night! Thanks! -Miss Clouse

Here we go band family! We are gearing up for our first competition of the season! We will be traveling to Russellville on Saturday, and would like to feed our band, chaperones, drivers, and staff on the move. We will be preparing sack lunches, and are once again asking for your help and support! The survey works the same as in the past. Sign up for whatever you are willing and able to contribute. As always, thank you all so much for your tremendous support!!
HELP! We NEED a parent with a GOOD metal detector to find our practice field corners. The four corners, as well as the 50 yard line and the hash marks, were marked last year by driving down some 10" metal tent pegs (with bright orange plastic on top). With the new grass growth and added field dressing, they will require a good metal detector, and someone who is experienced in using it. Corner pegs must be found by ASAP, so that we can spray the yard lines for our practice field. If we find them, it saves a lot of work!
