Sid, Center for Music Therapy Client
In honor of National Falls Awareness Prevention Day, we're celebrating Sid!
Sid struggles with walking due to Parkinson's disease and uses a walker due to his high risk of falls because of his severe shuffling, festinating gait.
He contacted the Center for Music Therapy interested in virtual Music Therapy to improve his walking and balance.
Watch how Sid used Biomedical Music™ and Music Therapy to change his life!
He dramatically improved his walking and reduced his risk of falls working hard in virtual music therapy treatment.

Individual Treatment Services: Music Therapy Occupational Therapy Physical Therapy Adaptive Music Lessons/Music Activity Consultation Services Assessments Staff in-services and Trainings Health For A Song: An innovative treatment support program for individuals, caregivers, and their families who live with a diagnosis, condition, or recurring problem yet have difficulty maintaining practice and self-care on their own. The program is designed to assist participants with the maintenance of gains achieved in treatment, or as a way to prevent the need for treatment. Our philosophy is simple: People do better with increased access to support for correct rehearsal and practice of self-care. Health For A Song achieves this. Health For A Song programming is structured to address four support areas: motor/movement, social/emotional, spiritual/immune, and speech/cognition. A fifth category incorporates each of these areas. Programming from all support areas is available to members, as needed. Motor/Movement Social/Emotional Spiritual/Immune Speech/Cognition Combination Workshops/Classes available

I suffered a severe stroke more than 3 years ago. Doctors gave up on me pretty soon after because the stroke involved medical conditions that were exaggerated by drug use. Still, I was left with neurological complications and Music saved my life, and has been my therapy for life. Here is a clip of music at work in my life taken two weeks after the stroke in January 2015.
For some reason I get a "Physical Therapy Products" catalog in the mail. Today I peeked before recycling, and lo and behold, "Gait Trainer 3" caught my eye. Good work, people!
