Event and Meeting Planners,

The Austin Convention Center Department (ACCD) continues to adhere to all City of Austin, Travis County, State of Texas, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommendations. Per the recommendations of Austin and Travis County health officials, the City of Austin has entered Stage 4 guidelines. No mandatory mask mandates are in place, but it is recommended that masks should be worn regardless of vaccination status. The Austin Convention Center is a Global Biorisk Advisory Council (GBAC) Star accredited facility.

We want to recognize both the Austin Convention Center Sales Team and the Palmer Events Center Sales Team for the jobs they've done over the past year and a half in the midst of a pandemic that wildly shifted the way they operate. The following are just a few of our sales teams' accomplishments during that time:

ACC Sales

- Pushed to get the most up-to-date information and worked tirelessly to communicate this information to clients
- Rebooked or rescheduled 27+ events to future dates, booked 26+ new definite groups
- Continued to conduct virtual site visits

PEC Sales

- Were able to retain significant facility rental revenue for 2021 in the face of clients seeking to cancel due to COVID-19
- Mobilized within a matter of hours to host the Medical Evacuation Shelter during the hurricane
- Handled every concerned client losing their business or canceling their event with patience and gratitude

Thank you, Sales Teams, from the entire department for your hard work and ability to shift priorities during an unprecedented pandemic. We're incredibly proud of the work you've done and excited that you're back to doing what you all do best!

It's official! After serving as Interim Director of the Austin Convention Center Department for the past year and a half, we can go ahead and drop the "Interim" from Trisha Tatro's title. Trisha was officially named ACCD Director on June 30 by Austin's Assistant City Manager, Rodney Gonzales.

Trisha began as an intern with ACCD back in 2002 while studying at the University of Texas and has since served as Event Coordinator, Senior Event Coordinator, Event Coordinator Supervisor, Events Services Manager, Convention Facility Manager, and ACCD Assistant Director.

Congrats from the entire department, Trisha. We can't wait to see what the future holds!

- Completed brand new tenant office space at Fifth Street Parking Garage for Finance and Purchasing
- Managed Palmer Events Center's LEED Gold recertification
- Completed design for new warehouse and marshalling yard, renovation of South Kitchen
