Jack's Generic Triathlon is a Sprint Triathlon featuring a 600m swim, 11.2-mile bike, 5K run, in Austin, Texas. A great triathlon event that is short enough for the beginner, and still challenging enough for the experienced athletes to 'light it up'.
Held at Decker Lake, this is an event you definitely don't want to miss. Jack's Generic Tri, is, well, it's generic. Created as a return to the events of old, when everything was all about the participants. Jack's is one of the best well run, safest, and most fun triathlon events you will ever do. The swim is held in Decker Lake. The bike and run are held on backcountry, central Texas roads with little-to-no traffic. The post-race party is one of the best in the business, with beer, treats, and thousands of dollars in free gear.

Fellow Texans, it has been a very difficult and challenging week. But within this time we have personally experienced and seen so much support and selflessness from our friends, neighbors, and even strangers.
We have seen cops stop to share gas with stranded drivers, neighbors taking elderly to warming centers, food and water freely given to those in need - the list goes on and on. We are so grateful and hope that those who are still experiencing the effects of the outages can get assistance as soon as possible. To all the workers putting in the extra hours in these harsh conditions THANK YOU!
Our staff is still scattered and many still without, so we will be taking the weekend to recover, regroup, and get in a good run once the snow melts. If you have reached out to us through DM or email please know that we will respond as soon as possible.

Sprint Triathlon – 600m swim, 11.2-mile bike, 5K run
Sprint Aquabike – 600m swim, 11.2-mile bike
Relay Triathlon – 2 or 3 person teams split the triathlon’s swim, bike, and run
When will a decision be made on if the race is happening or not? Asking after seeing Lubbock IM cancel a few days before race day.
Is there a way to sign up for the newsletter? I want to register for August 2021 and need notification when registration opens up. I checked the website but I'm not able to add my email to the newsletter field at the bottom.
Hi, my name is Paul Holmes. Someone may have mistakenly picked up my brown paper bag from the transition space, which had my clothes and more importantly my car keys in it. If you get home, and discover a pair of Honda Car Keys, please comment here. Thank you.
When is the last day you can sign up for JGT?
Just got my virtual jack’s generic tri 🏅 YAY !!!!
Hi, any ETA on when results are going to be fixed?
Did anyone else who started later have a swim time that was absurd. I started at about 8:08am and it said it took me 54 minutes to complete my swim (it took me 16 minutes).....
Seems that my timer started at the beginning rather than with my age group.
I was nowhere near the start or finish line at 7:30am, so I wouldn’t have accidentally triggered my tracker to start.
So, online in the results it said it took me 2hours and 16 minutes to complete this event in total and I really did it in 1hr 38minutes.
I enjoyed the race! I have raced Aquabike at this venue before.
I was wondering, however, when you will update the results. My husband, Mike Farrell (#47) and I (#46) started our Aquabike race today at the same time side-by-side. I beat him by nearly 30 minutes.
The results came back as follows:
Mike Farrell 01:18:22
Davina Farrell 01:51:02
Had a good time at the race - can't wait for Kerrville -- I have to ask, though, is the phrase" On your left" entirely outlawed in Austin? On terrible roads, yall, where people ARE going to be less predictable, it's not just polite, it's WISE to say "On your left" 12 or 13 people passed me, TWO said it
Making our way to Jack's!TXTRI looking forward to a good race!
