Plan for 110 cookers. BRISKET – Seven (9) full slices between 1/4" and 3/8” thick.

TEAMS & REGISTRATION – A contestant or team consists of one chief/head cook and no more than four assistants. Contestants may check in at the Registration Table inside the VFW’s main entrance beginning at Noon on Friday, February 16, 2018. Registration will be open Friday from Noon until 7:30 PM. Late Registrations, see the Head Judge. Registration is $175 (pre-registration is $150 – postmarked by 29 Jan). We accept cash or check only for registration payment. No Credit/Debit Cards. There is an ATM machine in the VFW Canteen. PARKING - The BBQ Cook Off grounds will be open for parking starting at Noon on Thursday, February 15th. There are 60 Hook-up sites, and 50+ additional sites. Hook-ups include electricity and water only. 12 Electrical boxes have 2 each 20 & 2 each 30 amp outlets, and 2 water lines. The other 6 Electrical boxes have 4 each 20 amp outlets and 2 water lines. NOTE: Regardless of outlet, DO NOT USE SPACE HEATERS!! It will blow the entire complex. First Come, First Serve. Parking Attendants will meet you upon arrive during daylight hours. They will start from the back of the complex and work towards the front so everyone can maneuver into a spot. If you want the same spot as a previous year, ask the parkers if is feasible. One parking space is included in the BBQ Registration Fee. Parking on the RV grounds for non-meat entrants is $175 (and comes with a free BBQ entry). Hook-up parking spaces are roughly 25 ft X 25 ft. All vehicles and equipment must fit within the cooking/parking space. Vehicles that do not fit can be parked in the VFW’s front parking area. All lanes must be kept clear for Fire Truck/Emergency access. Temporary parking of vehicles for loading and unloading is authorized but cannot be left unattended. RESERVED PARKING – The parking spaces along the front of the VFW building to the east of the front door are reserved for the bartenders, our VFW Commander and his designated personnel during the Chilly Chili weekend (The space is also marked as “motorcycle parking”). Please do not park your vehicles (cars/trucks) in this area. Please do not park in Handicap parking without proper tags. FIRE PITS/OPEN FIRES – Open fires from recreational fire pits will be prohibited during fire ban periods. If in doubt, ask a VFW Post Officer or Chilly Chili Chairman. CANTEEN BAR HOURS – Friday: 10:00 am – 1:00 am; Saturday: 9:00 am – Midnight. HALL 3 BAR HRS – Saturday: 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm (Site of the Awards Ceremony that starts around 6pm) Note: Saturday, Hall 3 will have Bloody Mary’s available at 7:00 am, after the 6:00 am Pancake breakfast is served by the VFW 8787 Boy Scouts. SOUND – Music and/or sound equipment within your team area is allowed. However, excessive loud music and/or sounds that interfere with announcements, scheduled live bands and entertainment on stage, or which intrude upon or interfere with the comfort of fellow contestants will not be allowed or tolerated. Offenders will receive no more than 3 warnings from the VFW organizers, and non-compliance will be reason for disqualification from the Cook Off and expulsion from the VFW grounds. QUIET TIME/LIMITED VEHICLE USE – Quiet time will begin at 10 PM each night and last until 7 AM the next morning. We ask that after 10 PM you discontinue use of all loud equipment/music and do not drive vehicles on/off the cooking grounds. During the contest (Saturday) we ask that there is no use of vehicles on contest grounds (except worker’s golf carts). Once you park your rig/vehicle, please leave it in place until you leave for good. If you know you must drive your vehicle during the contest please park it in the parking lots attached to the Cook Off grounds and not in your station. MEAT INSPECTIONS – All meats will be cooked on-site, without pre-cooking or marinating. Random inspections may be performed to assure that meat is not prepared prior to the official start of the competition as defined by the promoter. All meat must still be in its packaging when you arrive on site at the event. Random meat inspections will start at 4 PM on Friday, February 16th. TRASH – There are metal 55 gal drums placed around the grounds, typically at the electrical poles. Please use these for your hot ashes only. Also, please dispose of your trash in the dumpsters located on the grounds. There are 2 HUGE 30 Yard dumpsters, one at the far Southeast corner of the compound (straight down the entrance road), and another between the shed and conex West of the Bldg. These are for household trash and debris, but NO FOOD. There is a small dumpster for food in front of the VFW building. And, there is a small recycle dumpster for cans, bottles, plastics, and non-soiled paper, clearly marked, in front of the VFW as well. If the small dumpsters are full, please throw your trash in the large dumpster. Don’t leave it on the ground outside the small dumpster (critters will tear it apart).
