Last night, the Save Our Stages Act was passed as part of the latest COVID-19 Relief Bill! This emergency relief is vital to the survival of independent venues across the nation and represents the largest public rescue of the arts in U.S. history.

We look forward to the day that we can gather (and celebrate) once again. You can continue to support independent venues and promoters by purchasing merch, donating to the NIVA - National Independent Venue Association Emergency Relief Fund at saveourstages.com, or reaching out to your friends in the music industry and letting them know you're thinking about them.

10/01/2020

We prefer to make dumb posts about weird bands, but it’s just not the time for that. We have been closed for 6 months along with all of our friends, with no end in sight. Our phone does not ring. Venues are starting to buckle, closing up shop for good. It’s time to start speaking up.

We want to open safely, when the time is right. This is not about one club, it only works as an ecosystem. Collectively, we represent hundreds of millions in tax revenue and economic impact and thousands of real jobs for a wide variety of disciplines (artists, engineers, designers, bartenders, managers, security, marketers, builders, mechanics, talent buyers, promoters, and more). Our work helps fund schools, safety, and transportation in our city - and it draws tourists from around the world to not only invest in us, but in hotels, restaurants, real estate, and small businesses.

It also gives us a reason to believe in the word “Austin”. No one books a flight here to tour the Google building or the Tesla plant. In fact, Google and Tesla brought their employees here because of the hard work that people at the Amplified Sound Coalition do every night, and the artists that make us all feel good.

As an industry, and a community, we must do better. Venues don’t want a handout, but they know that this is a moment in time. Live music venues to Austin are what Automobile plants are to Detroit. It is both the machine that feeds us and the fabric of our culture that keeps us feeling creative, alive, together, and sane. If venues get meaningful short and long term support, they will be accountable to giving back to our city. And they will do it. There is a difference between a relief package and a stimulus package. We are advocating for the latter, and our plan would be to work with all venues to rebuild better models, businesses, and programs for the long term.

City council votes tonight on step 1 of a dedicated stimulus plan for this industry because YOU have spoken up and made this an issue. The vote will probably happen around 8:00 tonight. Until that time, let your voices be heard:

tried reaching out on instagram and through the website but can't seem to get an answer. is the mountain goats show on may 5th still happening? I see it was rescheduled for that date but would love confirmation if it is actually going to happen or not before I drive there on that day lol
Any word about the show on Jan 27 is it still happening? This show has been moved a couple of times already. Don’t want to show up and no one be there 😬
Hi Austen & Patrick, I just sent an email, but thought I'd try you here... We are building a new mission-based tool to help Venues and Musicians rebound from the shut down, and help them reopen more easily. Would you be willing to talk to me and share your insights? We have had interviews with many Musicians and Commissioners from the Austin Music Commission, but your perspective from the Venue side would be incredibly helpful. Would you be willing to meet with me? Thank you in advance! I'm sure this is a hectic and busy time as you look to reopen.
Are yall gonna be open Nov 12th, for the Samantha Fish show?
Has the set for Of Montreal been rescheduled? I bought my tickets before the pandemic. Just wondering if there's any new news
We're live!!!!!
Is mountain goats going to be rescheduled again or is it cancelled? Thanks.
Did you finally cancel ACW from ever taking place at Mohawks? You should the owner of Anarchy Championship has been outed as a groomer and abuser of women. Please never book his wrestling events at your bar.
