Lots and lots and lots of music from around the world at SX next week. Although these are official SXSW badge/wristband events, one can generally get in for a few bucks (usually $10 or less) space permitting (ie. Pick a spot for the evening and go early). Aside from the usual fare from Colombia etc., this year features a whole lot more than usual from the African continent. And be sure to catch 47soul السبعة و أربعين, who rocked globalFEST in Jan this year. The gF showcase at Palm Door on 6th is also stacked this year, as is the British Underground/Jazz Re:freshed showcase.

Exciting update from the revered Afropop Worldwide folks about their new showcase at the upcoming SX music fest next month. Terrific lineup of stadium-packing superstars including AdekunleGold (he was amazing last year), Jojo Abot and our long-time faves Sautisol (who performed at Wobeon's first-ever showcase Rum 'n' RIddims waaaaay back in 2012) and others.
Afropop is excited and honored to finally jump into the South by Southwest fray in the form of a showcase. Our first ever showcase will be at the Palm Door on Sixth in Austin, TX on March 15. We’re still banging out an order for the show, so more details are still to come, but we’ve got the line...

The next edition of globalFEST’s flagship, pioneering music fest in NYC is coming up soon (Jan 6). Tickets are on sale as we speak via their indiegogo campaign, which is already ~40% funded in just a few days. We strongly recommend getting tickets ASAP before they sell out (they always do, every year; probably sooner than usual this year with the new fest venue). It’s always a terrific show full of great music and discovery.
Even if you can’t make it, it’s always a good idea to support this fest to help keep the global music experience in the US humming as much as possible in these troubled, divides times we live in - in addition to the fest itself, gF makes much-needed support contributions to visiting artists’ tours across the country, among many other initiatives.
