Free Trip to Egypt Premieres Tomorrow. . .

Free Trip To Egypt - Film Opening

Seeking to build a bridge of mutual understanding and friendship, a Canadian-Egyptian entrepreneur living in Switzerland decides to reach out to the very people who fear him. He travels across the United States to find Americans concerned about an Islamic threat and makes them an intriguing offer: a Free Trip to Egypt.

The initial reactions range from disbelief to hostility, but eventually a diverse group from various backgrounds is selected, including: a teacher, a police officer, a Marine veteran, a single mom, a preacher and a beauty pageant queen. All have their preconceptions but are receptive and courageous enough to embark on the adventure of a lifetime.

Soon enough, the band of travelers arrives in Egypt where the Americans are paired with local Egyptians just as diverse as they are. What happens when a retired school teacher and her husband are united with a young Egyptian revolutionary? Two photo journalists from different countries and experiences are placed together? A Christian missionary and a former Miss Kentucky from his congregation are joined with an orthodox Muslim family where the mother covers her face?

The answers are provocative, surprising, funny, magical, emotional, revealing, enlightening and ultimately life-changing — in other words, all things human — in this profoundly original and inspirational feature-length documentary.

Hello Friends, What would you say if someone asked you, "Would you like to go on an all-expenses paid trip to Egypt?" Seeking to build a bridge of mutual understanding and friendship, Muslim entrepreneur Tarek Mounib asked a lot of Americans just that question. Then he brought six of them of diff...

"Everything Hangs on Intention: How to Align Your Intentions with Your Real Values" Talk with Sylvia Boorstein, Co-Founding Teacher at Spirit Rock Meditation Center, Senior Teacher at Insight Meditation Society this Saturday, June 1st at Buddhafest LA!

About this program:
The Buddha instructed his son, Rahula to''reflect before, during, and after every action on whether your motivation is the desire to end suffering for yourself and all beings.''

This implies that either your intention is so solidly grounded in your understanding of dukkha, inherent suffering in life, that you cannot misstep without your moral compass sounding an alarm or else you act very, very slowly.

Join us for "How Radical Compassion Will Change Your Life" with Sharon Salzberg and Robert A.F. Thurman Saturday, June 1st!

This will be our 10th BuddhaFest, and Sharon has been with us for every single one. Unfortunately, a recent health issue has forced Sharon to cancel her public appearances for several months. Therefore, rather than appearing with us in person, Sharon will participate from New York via livestream. We are grateful for this, and we hope you understand.

Longtime friends and colleagues Sharon Salzberg and Robert A.F. Thurman for an evening exploring the path of compassionate action for difficult times. These longtime Buddhist teachers explore the empowerment and liberation that is possible through the cultivation of fierce compassion, particularly when we encounter fear, anger and helplessness.

Sharon and Bob explore radical compassion as a form of personal agency from which we can engage critical wisdom and mindfulness in the most of challenging times of our lives. Learn practical tools to shift out of the adversarial mentality of "us" and "them.” Expand your circle of connection to include those outside your comfort zone. Skillfully navigate the burnout of the smartphone era for greater balance and self-care.

Experience your innate capacity to embrace the whole world of experience, and the extraordinary freedom waiting to be found in the fiercely compassionate heart of the Buddha.
