🌻 It's Earth Day! 🌻
I took this photo last year at the end of our Let's Grow Something Together Sunflower project. I am reminded why this project started a year ago, in mourning and remembrance of George Floyd. We continue to mourn the lives of George Floyd and many other Black lives cut short. Let us plant a sunflower and sow seeds of love, and continued healing for our country. So many of us are in pain because of the pandemic and the racial unrest. I launched Let's Grow Something Together Sunflower Project for hope and wish you can join me in spreading the beauty of the sunflower plant throughout our city.

I was inspired by Roxbury artist and friend Ekua Holmes, who started the Roxbury Sunflower Project and I have her blessings for this project in the Cambridge area.
We are getting ready to launch this year's program on Earth Day Boston in collaboration with Many Helping Hands 365. Join the movement, sign up to assemble seed packets, grow seedlings and plant a sunflower across Cambridge and Somerville. Sign up here-->http://bit.ly/grow2021form

🔥BOSTON JERKFEST WINS BEST OF JAMAICA 2020 NATIONAL AWARD ORGANIZED BY “THE FESTIVAL QUEEN”🔥
See press release here -->https://bit.ly/BJFFeb26

Boston JerkFest Caribbean Foodie Festival, produced by Nicola Williams, President and Founder of The Williams Agency, is honored to receive a Best of Jamaica 2020 award from Jamaicans.com. The people’s choice award, “Jamaica’s Best Annual 2020 Jamaican/Caribbean event in Boston,” was based on surveying local residents in the area. The 8th Boston JerkFest, a Caribbean Foodie Festival, held virtually July 10-12, 2020, was the first ever virtual jerk festival in the world.

“I am thrilled that Boston JerkFest was recognized nationally amongst other top Caribbean events, including Jerk Festivals in Fort Lauderdale, New York City, and Washington, DC. This recognition puts Boston on the national map amongst the best of cultural festivals. I could not be prouder of my team, the Chefs, the artists, and the Greater Boston community for believing in our festival and our culture” - Nicola Williams, Festival Producer

In 2020, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Boston JerkFest was held virtually. Over a 3-day weekend the festival featured more than 50 local artists; attracted more than three times its average audience; and featured THIRD WORLD Band, Jamaica’s internal reggae group also known as Jamaica’s reggae ambassadors. The virtual Boston JerkFest was preceded by a series of virtual “Jerk Friday” events held last summer leading up the 3-day weekend. The Boston JerkFest team will recast its virtual 2020 festival this spring and bring back Jerk Fridays as a prelude to its second virtual jerk festival to be held July 9-11, 2021, however, we are continuing to monitor the pandemic situation if things change.
Often hailed as “The Festival Queen,” Nicola has been organizing cultural and food festivals for more than 25 years, and she has received local and national recognition for her work in organizing Zero Waste events, local food events, and cultural festivals. Nicola had been a consultant to London’s Mayor and Economic Development office, leading an international team in developing a cultural economic development plan for London’s largest festival—the Nottinghill Carnival.

Nicola was recently awarded an individual artist grant from Mass Cultural Council for her work as a cultural festival Producer. At The Williams Agency, she has produced some of Greater Boston’s premier food and cultural festivals, including: Boston Local Food Festival (Boston, MA), Rum & Brew (Boston, MA), Local Craft Spirits Festival (Cambridge, MA), Hyper-Local Craft Brewfest (Cambridge, MA), Vermont JerkFest & Reggae Festival (Brattleboro, VT). Her company also provides pro-bono logistics and marketing support for the annual Cambridge Carnival International, Cambridge’s largest festival. She has also served in the capacity of neighborhood representative in her role of Chairing the Harvard Square Neighborhood Association's Music Task Force to facilitate healthy communications between the producers of Boston Calling Music Festival and the Harvard Square community.

This is a preview to Boston and Cambridge Carnival with music food, arts, craft and community. A chance for everyone to experience the Caribbean before you go there and for Island natives, it’s an opportunity to express their pride and heritage. Last year Tempo Rhythm and Steel entertained the crowd with music Trinidad and Tobago. If you are Jamaican den ya done know it’s all about dah Jerk, real ting. All West Indians represented and all are welcome No Problem!!
Friday Night Rum and Brew Tasting A great festive way to close the work week. Come with friends and make new friends as you journey through the myriad of new tastes. Learn all about these new products from the brewers and distillers themselves. Saturday Jerk Fest A little something for everyone. The air is fragrant with the aroma of spicy BBQ. Steel pan in one area invites you to step in and enjoy. Seafood throw down, Cocktail throw down,special cocktails, Local Run and Brew. Children’s area with stilt walking, face painting and arts and crafts. Reggae and African music, Local Dj’s and local Dance Teachers to enhance your experience. Even Double Dutch jump roping, come relax and play. I’ve enjoyed seven years and look forward to every year’s Boston Jerk Fest.

The Boston Jerk Fest is one on the best multicultural summer events. I have have been a participant and never been disappointed. Its an event for the whole family ,adults and children. One of the many entertainment that I look forward to hearing is Tempo International Steel Band. They not only song great, but invite both adults and children to join them when they perform. As for food, you get to sample some of the best Caribbean food in Boston, together with variety of tropical drinks. I look forward to attending every year.
Boston Jerk Fest this summer, New Location Oh so excited
Hey guys, the African American Cultural Festival is coming this weekend! Can't wait to see all of you!
The African American Cultural Festival is coming this weekend! Can't wait to see all of you!
The advertisement was not what the actual event was. Empty vendor tables and portions were smaller than what a dentist would provide in mouthwash.
How to become a vendor for this event ?
