With her creative eye for telling a story with food, she has contributed to Food Network, Food Network Magazine, The Cooking Channel, The Katie Couric Show, CBS Corporation, ABC’s The Chew, and Bravo’s Chef Roble and Co. Elle has been featured in recent stories in the Boston Globe and Forbes and on the Tom Joyner Morning Show and National Public Radio.

She says, “This dish is inspired by summer fish-fry dinners that my family had when I was growing up. It's a simple, one pan recipe that can also make the vegetarians very happy by enjoying the warm collard slaw.”

As evenings cool down, warm up with this Crispy Mala Black Sea Bass from Chef Celine Berger-Chun, formerly of Mei Mei Restaurant. She says, “Black sea bass is a mild and tender fish, but still firm enough to withstand this Sichuan-style cooking method. To cool off and provide some refreshing balance to the meal, I paired this dish with the easiest side - a zippy wedge salad. The dressing uses a South American herb called papalo, sourced from the Urban Farming Institute in Mattapan. This cilantro-like herb is a beautiful plant, with a bright crisp funk that stands up to the both mala and fish pleasantly well.”

09/01/2020

Bluefish are spirited, both on the line and on the plate. If you like strong and assertive fish like tuna, mackerel, swordfish, and striped bass, you’ll adore bluefish. Bluefish is sustainable, inexpensive and local for those on the East Coast,” says Chef Nadine Nelson. The Massachusetts Seafood Chef Series presents her Jerk Carmel Bluefish for some awesome mid-week flavor.

Chef Nadine Nelson is a career educator, chef, artist, activist, and owner of Global Local Gourmet. As an expert in interactive culinary education and experiential event production, she uses food as a catalyst and platform to build community, revitalize the neighborhood, preserve our cultural heritage, and empower people to lead healthier, happier, connected and more prosperous lives by creating educational and recreational programming around cuisine from seed to waste.

She says, “Bluefish are rich and succulent, liking to be flavored with feisty spice mixtures like Jerk, Curry, and Berber. I mix two complementary styles of cuisine with a Vietnamese style caramel with the added heat or Jamaican Jerk. Both cultures love aromatics like allspice, star anise, ginger, and cinnamon. Enjoy this sweet yet sizzling fish with extra caramel for other dishes in the future.”

This is a preview to Boston and Cambridge Carnival with music food, arts, craft and community. A chance for everyone to experience the Caribbean before you go there and for Island natives, it’s an opportunity to express their pride and heritage. Last year Tempo Rhythm and Steel entertained the crowd with music Trinidad and Tobago. If you are Jamaican den ya done know it’s all about dah Jerk, real ting. All West Indians represented and all are welcome No Problem!!
Friday Night Rum and Brew Tasting A great festive way to close the work week. Come with friends and make new friends as you journey through the myriad of new tastes. Learn all about these new products from the brewers and distillers themselves. Saturday Jerk Fest A little something for everyone. The air is fragrant with the aroma of spicy BBQ. Steel pan in one area invites you to step in and enjoy. Seafood throw down, Cocktail throw down, special cocktails, Local Run and Brew. Children’s area with stilt walking, face painting and arts and crafts. Reggae and African music, Local Dj’s and local Dance Teachers to enhance your experience. Even Double Dutch jump roping, come relax and play. I’ve enjoyed seven years and look forward to every year’s Boston Jerk Fest.

The Boston Jerk Fest is one on the best multicultural summer events. I have have been a participant and never been disappointed. Its an event for the whole family ,adults and children. One of the many entertainment that I look forward to hearing is Tempo International Steel Band. They not only song great, but invite both adults and children to join them when they perform. As for food, you get to sample some of the best Caribbean food in Boston, together with variety of tropical drinks. I look forward to attending every year.

Hey guys, the African American Cultural Festival is coming this weekend! Can't wait to see all of you!
The African American Cultural Festival is coming this weekend! Can't wait to see all of you!
The advertisement was not what the actual event was. Empty vendor tables and portions were smaller than what a dentist would provide in mouthwash.
How to become a vendor for this event ?
