Just three years ago, I embarked onto a journey of a life time. Through blood sweat and tears, I seized the opportunity with much help from family and friends to live out my dream. My dream of owning and operating a dance studio. By much surprise, there was not much that came easy, as with anything in life. I learned much more then what it takes to own and operate a dance studio. From legal expectations, to every day interactions with individuals working towards the same goals, having the same passion that I myself have for the art of Dance.
There is no greater feeling then to see your students loving what they do. To see them express their emotions through movement. The first interactions of the day when you see your student and ask them how there day was and their reply “I’m just so glad to be at Dance.” These types of feelings are felt by most of us at one time or another. We feel a sense of connection, we work as a team, we can express ourselves through movement and most importantly we are family. There truly is no greater feeling.
Amongst all of these things I have remained eternally grateful for the opportunity to enrich the lives of these young individuals through the art of Dance.
I was at an event down in Miami last October. The CEO of Sprint Marcelo Claure said this statement which you may have heard at one time or another. It has stuck with me every day since, he said, “If you had one shot, or one opportunity to seize everything you ever wanted would you capture it or just let it slip?”
Opportunities present to us in everyday life. Everyday we have a choice to make, an opportunity to cease. Whether it be easy or hard, simple or complex we are all faced with this on an daily basis. Keeping in mind that one decision might not pan out so great or maybe it’s the stepping stone to a greater future, we take fear of the unknown. We try to keep faith that all things will work for the better, but in some cases this isn’t so.
Our master teacher Geraldo Iglesias has an amazing story of the hardships that he has faced in living out his dream, from opening his first dance studio in Puerto Rico to relocating years down the road after a substantial move and yet again succeeding even through these hardships. He had one dream, one goal, and that is what he had set his mind to.
Recently, my family and I were faced with the chance to seize an opportunity. An opportunity that would mean a relocation. Through many emotions and after much contemplation, we had come to the conclusion to seize the opportunity given to us. This decision has been very difficult on both of us as we both have many family, friends, memories and most importantly the dance studio.
After our decision was made I instantly felt heartbroken. Closing a chapter in a book is never easy. Most importantly I feared what would happen to the dance studio when I was gone. I feared that all of my dreams were now meaningless. One thing I can say is I did it! I followed my dreams that were not too far out of reach. And now we open a new chapter.
To my amazing and very talented students, their wonderful parents and families I want to thank you all for the wonderful memories and interactions that these past 3 years have brought. Thank you for allowing me to work with them by giving me the opportunity to enrich their lives with my knowledge of dancing. I want you all to know that this decision was a very hard decision to make as I thought about each and every one of you individually. Always remember that I will be here for each and every one of you. I’m so excited to see what God has in store for all of you, and will be rooting for you! My challenge for all of you is to live out your dream, take chances and have faith even when you may have fear for the unknown.
So now with all of that said I would like to present to you, Adagio School of the Performing Arts new Owner and Director, Geraldo Iglesias who has so gracious taken it upon himself to keep the dance studio up and running. To provide quality, affordable dance classes for all of our students, and to keep my dream still a reality. Much love to all of my MVP’s! ❤️ Side Note- July’s summer class schedule will be posted soon! Thank you all ❤️❤️ Geraldo Iglesias

Is there no salsa lessons tonight? I was looking forward to it after being out of town for multiple weeks.
