Thursday Night Meets - Chesterfield, MO

Thursday Night Meets - Chesterfield, MO This meet occurs every Thursday night from 7pm til at least 10. New location -
Dillard’s @ Chesterfield Mall
151 Chesterfield Center
Chesterfield, MO 63017

NO BURNOUTS
NO REVVING/2-STEP
NO SPEEDING THROUGH LOT
(4)

This is an open-to-all, casual car meet that happens every decent Thursday evening (50° or higher at 7PM, no rain) from 7 to 10. Feel free to arrive early and stay late. Plenty of Chesterfield police officers patrol the meet and will ticket you if you speed, do burnouts, etc etc. No one wants to hear you revving your car multiple times or your loud music - we’re all trying to talk to eachother and your noise is annoying. Feel free to laugh at and troll people that can’t behave at the meet - it’s good fun. The guy that hosts these meets can be found by looking for the most obscure Mazda on the parking lot.

Hey all - I should have said something earlier but I’m NOT doing the meet tonight due to prior engagements - honestly wasn’t expecting to have good enough temperatures tonight so I didn’t plan on having the meet. My mistake!

However, Dawson Byer is hosting a meet at the Lewis and Clark Boat House - so get your car meet fix there!

I’ll be sure to keep my Thursday evenings open from here on out. 👍🏻

SO - one park ranger explained that we can not be standing on the lot after 8pm. The park is open til 10. Another park ranger pulled in and said he didn’t care if we were here - BUT it’s best that we go. I’ll have to figure out another spot for future meets.

Well, it’s warm enough. Let’s do a meet?

‘The Boat House’ parking lot. 7PM. This lot is open until 10PM, at which point St. Charles police and/or park rangers will politely ask people to leave.

*ATTENCIONÉ* PLEASE DO NOT REV, SPEED, OR OTHERWISE MAKE EXUBERANT AMOUNTS OF NOISE WITH YOUR VEHICLE IN THE AREA I HAVE MARKED RED ON THE MAP. At least one business in this area calls St. Charles police to complain about loud cars. An officer explained this to us a few weeks back.

And as always, at any of my meets, or any meets in general - No burnouts, no revving, no speeding, no loud audio, no leaving trash on the lot, etc etc JUST DON’T DO THINGS THAT GET MEET SPOTS SHUT DOWN.

Thank you.

Tonight - Boat House

1050 S Riverside Dr
St Charles, MO 63301

For those that haven’t been there, this is a park, and the parking lot has a 8PM leave time. Park ranger(s) generally drive through and tell everyone to leave around this time, though sometimes later. Since this is not a location that I’m responsible for, feel free to show up whenever and stay til whenever. I’ll try to be there just after 6.

Looks like fantastic weather tomorrow evening to NOT BE ABLE TO DO A MEET due to Sam Page’s executive order limiting gatherings to 10 people or less in St. Louis County for the next 4 weeks. Oh well.

If someone wants to pick up the torch and host a meet tomorrow evening in the westplex (St. Charles, St. Peters, etc), feel free to post it here.

Oh, hey guys. Yes, let’s do a meet tomorrow! Might be the last one, FOR-EV-VER.

Or, until another warm day.

Video almost unrelated.

It’s cold, and will be cold tomorrow. New rule - if it’s less than 60° at 7PM in Chesterfield, there will not be a meet. I will of course post on the Wednesday or day of IF we are having one, but otherwise, if you don’t see a post by 4pm on a Thursday, there’s no meet. Here, have this crappy pic I took from last week’s meet.

10/21/2020

Unusually warm day tomorrow - let’s do a meet.

Long Rd location.

Don’t do stupid things and don’t be loud. Also please only park on one side of the back drive - and tell anyone you see parking on the other side that they shouldn’t.

10/14/2020

No meet tomorrow. Windchill will be in the low 40°s during the normal meet time. Isn’t worth it to me to stand around in a parking lot, shouldn’t be worth it to you either! Grab dinner with friends, go for a drive, or enjoy a night in. We’ll be back on the next decently warm Thursday!

10/08/2020

ALRIGHT, so here is the decision for tonight:

We will be back at the original location on Long Rd - 7PM

I made this decision based on a number of factors that I have been stressing out over the past few days and at this point it’s the best solution I could come up with. I will still be working on securing a larger parking lot to host these meets on a weekly basis, but at least for tonight, this is it.

Obviously if the turnout is what it grew into at Dillard’s, not everyone will have a place to park. It’s just the way it is - tough times, these. Maybe try parking at the commuter lot across Edison and walking over, or elsewhere at your own risk.

••• DO NOT BLOCK ENTRANCES, GAS PUMPS, OCCUPY THE SPOTS INFRONT OF THE CONVENIENCE STORE, OR THE MAIN AISLE. You will be asked to move by me, one of my friends, or Chesterfield PD. If you intend on blocking other meet-goers’ cars in, make sure you know each other and can contact each other in case someone needs out. I’ll also do my best to keep tabs on who owns what cars in case there is a problem. I’ll also attempt to point cars in the direction of available spots if possible, and I ask others to do the same so that there’s not a constant flow of cars driving through aimlessly.

Same rules apply as always - no revving, no burnouts, no speeding through the lot, no speeding down Edison or Long, no loud audio, pick up your trash and throw it in the dumpster on-site, be mindful of other meet goers and the general public, etc etc etc.

If you share this post, you’re most likely going to cause more people to try to come out and have nowhere to park - just a heads up. I’m posting this on this page and nowhere else to help control the meet population. I’m looking forward to having a spot with unlimited parking again, but things take time.

Hey thanks for reading!

10/06/2020

Well, I knew our days at Dillard’s were numbered. The Staenberg Group bought the mall back in February and have plans on developing the property into a mix of residential and commercial, which probably won’t happen for a while - but in the mean time, today I was notified by an officer they sent a letter to Chesterfield PD stating that they will not allow car shows, meets, or otherwise on the property, and have instructed CPD to cite anyone there with trespassing and will prosecute. More than likely this is because of the burnouts, drifting, and trash left on the lot by the select few that can’t respect someone else’s property.

SO, the meet is cancelled until I can come up with a new parking lot to host them at, with permission, with as little impact on the property and surrounding businesses/residences/etc.

Would’ve been nice if this hadn’t come up now as it looks like we still have some good weather/temperature Thursdays this season, but such is life.

I have a couple of options already, however with the attendance of this meet ballooning(hey that’s a fun word) up with the size of the Dillard’s lot, it’s going to be difficult to not go invite-only at the options I have. I’ll do some thinking. Might not have a location this week or even next week, but I’ll figure something out soon.

Again, thanks to those that have come out to these Thursday meets at either location over the years and have enjoyed them without causing problems with property owners and CPD. On the whole, this has been a good thing and something I know people look forward to on a weekly basis. I’ll do what I can, within reason, to keep these going - somewhere or another.
- Ryan

10/01/2020

Coldest Thursday of the season is ahead of us but that won’t stop the meet. 7ish to 10ish, Dillard’s lower lot, etc etc etc.

A few words, or a SAE ton, about last week’s meet: Don’t know about anyone else, but I definitely didn’t go home in a good mood that night. The level of disrespect for the rules, other meet goers, and I, was ridiculous. I would like to thank those that come out and don’t cause problems, those that understand and enjoy the purpose of these meets, and those that know that bad behavior gets meet spots shut down. I’ve seen so many spots get shut down over the years for this BS - the 2nd street garage in St. Charles, ‘the spot’ garage downtown. WWT garage. Sonic in the Valley, and the spill-over onto the Lowe’s lot, Soco Home Depot, etc etc etc. Large spaces to meet at on a regular basis are very few and far between, much less with permission, and it’s up to everyone that attends to make sure that we stay on the right side of public decency in terms of noise and impact on the surrounding residences, businesses, and other drivers in the area, so that these meets can continue and don’t completely paint the local car community as an annoyance in the eyes of the public, property owners, and police. The more good, respectful meets we have, the more likely it is for property owners to allow meets and car shows at other locations. And it also creates an environment that is more inviting for car enthusiasts new to the scene, or those that don’t typically come out to meets such as Thursday Night. It DOES make a difference. One of those ‘big picture’ things.

So, all I can really ask for is that everyone be mindful of the rules I set forth when I started these meets over 3 years ago. These rules were created with property owners, the public, and Chesterfield police in mind for the reasons stated above, to keep the meets going indefinitely. I don’t care if anyone thinks these meets are lame, or thinks that I’m some sort of ‘square’ that prevents people from having a good time, because of the simple rules. If you have a problem with any of this, I suggest you host your own meets at another location and you can do whatever you want to do there - I might even attend.

I should not have to go yell at everyone that breaks common sense rules. I go to these meets after a day at work, after 4 days of my work week, and they’re supposed to be relaxing and unwinding with friends and new people, not stressful. Please, if you see your friend breaking rules - whether leaving trash on the lot or speeding through the aisles, etc etc - say something to them. It might make a difference versus coming from some 130lb stranger who walks over from across the lot. They might actually listen to you.

That’s not all I have to say, but that’s enough. See you guys tomorrow.

Oh, yeah, there’s a meet tomorrow.

If you’re just joining us and can’t figure out a page - this meet happens on the Dillard’s parking lot at Chesterfield Mall from 7 til 10 or so.

If you do dumb things arriving to or leaving the meet, you may get ticketed. If you do really dumb things on the street, run from the cops on your bike, and think coming to the meet is a great idea, you may even win a handcuffed ride to the Chesterfield police department like two meet-goers last week. Good times!

See you guys tomorrow - except maybe those two guys. 😆

Meet tomorrow, naturally!

Friendly reminder - these meets technically start at 7 and most of the lights shut off at 10.

Not so friendly reminder - if you arrive or leave driving like an idiot, you risk being ticketed, now more than ever. Spoke with an officer on Saturday night and he said that due to a lot of calls/complaints by the general public about how people that go to the meet are driving nearby, enforcement will be up in the coming weeks. On my end, I stand by my theory that no one of value is really impressed that a car can spin the tires, speed, or make noise, so I’m not sure why anyone has to do these things at or around the meet. 🤷🏻‍♂️

An aside - the Saturday night meet is not affiliated in any way by me besides using the same location. It must have been assumed that if I was ok’d by Chesterfield PD to do these on Thursdays, anyone can do these on another night. Interesting idea, but I suppose if Saturday meets here are kept nice, no harm no foul.

Yeah yeah, meet tonight. Same great time, same great place.

Looks like another picturesque Thursday awaits us tomorrow. See you guys there!

PS - revving won’t make people like you more, try not to get pulled over a few hundred feet from the meet, and the upper Dillard’s lot is not a space for you to try to drift your gutless RX-8. There, I said it.

Yes. Weather-permitting. 7PM, Dillard’s. Don’t do dumb things with your car in or around the meet. Thanks.

Pertaining to these meets -

Chesterfield is in STL County which is under new rules as of Friday, limiting gatherings to 50 people.

It’s unclear what is considered a gathering - what physical space that is. The verbiage is pretty vague. Given that at no time over the past two meets have I observed even close to 50 people, in a group, within the 6ft social distancing suggestion, and that the parking lot is huge, I think the meet will be fine tomorrow night.

Well, we oughta try to have a meet tonight, if the weather allows. Same spot as last week.

Unfortunately, it looks like tonight would be the last meet for a while due to St. Louis County’s new guidelines limiting gatherings to 50 people or less (and other guidelines) going into effect tomorrow. We definitely exceed 50 people on most Thursday nights. I don’t need to open myself up to whatever consequences could be put on me for having these meets and ignoring the guidelines.

Just when we get a location with so much space, too. Damned the luck!

Coordinates - (38.6538343, -90.5666458)

After overrunning the dentist office/gas station last Thursday, Chesterfield police suggested that we move the meet to Chesterfield Mall where there is plenty of space. I’ve pinned the best location for us, taking into account surrounding businesses and such, ease of getting to the location, and pavement conditions.

Dillard’s seems to be the ideal location at this point. I would like to fill the right side of the lot (when looking at Dillard’s) first and spread left as more people arrive.

Directions:

From 40/64 Westbound, take Exit 19A to Chesterfield Parkway West. Turn left, cross the highway, turn left onto Wild Horse Creek Rd, and make the first turn-in on your right.

From 40/64 Eastbound, take Exit 19A to Wild Horse Creek Rd. Make a left at the stoplight, continue through the next stop light, and make the first turn-in on your right.

Wild Horse Creek Rd east of Chesterfield Parkway is eastbound only - if you need to leave and go west, turn left out of the meet and make the first right turn, and make another right turn onto Chesterfield Parkway West which will take you back up to 40/64.

There will probably be police presence in the area - if this bothers you, don’t show up. If you are unable to control yourself and your car in wide open parking lots, don’t show up.

See you folks tomorrow evening.

07/18/2020

As far as the new location, it will be at Chesterfield Mall, most likely on the Dillard’s side. I need to drive through there one night soon and get a lay of the land, but I think that’s the best spot for it for a few reasons - pavement looks decent (from google street view, at least!), entrance and exit from the outer road / highway is right there, and it doesn’t put loud cars near the condos or apartments like on the Sears side/where Street Car Takeover was - besides the roads are super crappy in that area. It’s unfortunate that there aren’t really amenities on site(is the mall even open?), but the amount of space, the permission by chesterfield PD, and not having issues from business owners and general public when our cars are in the way means sacrifices have to be made. No need to worry about not having a place to park if you leave and come back though!

I’ll make another post or two before Thursday.

07/17/2020

If you have a car parked behind the convenience store, near the gas pumps, or in the corner of the gas station, you need to move your car per Chesterfield PD. I believe some people are going to Chesterfield Mall - I don’t want to deal with the chaos of organizing moving everyone tonight, so I’ll come up with a plan for next week in the coming days.

Sorry for any confusion or if you had nowhere to park. We’ve definitely outgrown this location and I’d like to thank everyone for keeping these meets nice and inviting for all.
