It is with great sadness that we the board of directors of the Greater Cleburne Carnegie Players announce our decision to cancel the run of Bright Star as well as the remainder of our 2020 season of shows. This was an extremely difficult decision and one that was made with the utmost respect for the safety and well being of our actors, volunteers, and audience members. We ask that all patrons who have purchased tickets and season ticket holders bear with us as we go through the process of contacting you to address your options.

All of the members of this organization believe that the world needs the light of the arts more than ever, and the arts needs the support of our patrons now more than ever before. We love our community and sincerely wish to be celebrating our 80th anniversary in 40 years time. We wish you and your families well, and we hope to see you at a show in 2021.

Congrats to our Rotary 4-Way Test Speech contestants! Alexis Wallen (1st place) and Samantha Moreno (2nd place) are both members of the Cleburne High School Interact Club.

After the speeches, our very own Lowell "Stretch" Smith Jr. surprised each of the contestants with a $1,500 starter scholarship!!!

We would like to thank Gary Little for coordinating the 4-Way Test Speech Contest year after year and Mrs. Angela Fink-Carrizales for leading the Interact Club at Cleburne High School! This would not be possible without you!

Last but not least, we would like to thank "Stretch" Smith for his boundless generosity and unwavering compassion toward the students in our community. The foundation upon which Rotary now stands was built by individuals like him.

Today was another great day to be a Rotarian!

Cleburne Lions Club heard a personal testimony from Vange Ramage (center), Development Coordinator of CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) of Johnson County, sharing her journey from being a statistic to becoming a part of CASA. As a very young child, Ramage was placed in the system until her foster mother, who already had five children, came to adopt Ramage giving her stability and guiding her into a productive individual. Visiting with Ramage are Lions Vice President Stephanie Simmons and board member Deborah George, who is also a volunteer for CASA. CASA's mission is to speak out for abused and neglected children in the community as well as in court proceedings so they can be permanently placed in a safe, nurturing environment as quickly as possible.

Leave it to Cleburne Conference Center to mess up as big as you did. My Father and his Fiance have been in communication with y'all about booking one of your big conference rooms as a venue so they could marry there in August. How do you let someone else book it from under them? They have been waiting to be told when they need to go up and book it. They have the money in hand. They've been communicating and doing everything right. How do you mess up this big?? Way to go. None of us are even Cleburne residents so you have left an incredibly sour taste in our mouth. We will not consider this location for an event again if y'all mess up this big concerning a wedding. We will be sure to warn all of our family and friends as well.
