Raise your hand if you’ve ever signed up for a super ambitious New Year’s Resolution (take up surfing! Start a side-hustle! Journal every day!) only to give up on it quicker than Usain Bolt runs a 100m final. Dw girl, we got you. It’s totally common to feel like you’ve bitten off more than you can chew. In fact, around 80 per cent of us will lose track of our goals by the first of February each year, especially if they’re fitness related (motivation = zero).

But it doesn’t have to be this way – just ask Lorna Jane Clarkson (aka, the brains behind one of the hottest activewear brands in the biz.) Here, the holistic health advocate shares her best tricks to set yourself up for lasting success.

Bladder problems can disrupt our day-to-day life, and as we get older, they’re more likely to occur.

“As we age, our bladder changes,” says Southern Ocean Medical Center urologist Charles P. Fernicola, M.D. “Elastic bladder issue becomes less stretchy, so it can’t hold as much urine as before. The bladder wall and pelvic floor muscles can also weaken, which makes it hard to fully empty the bladder and causes urine to leak.”

Here are 10 signs you should see a doctor for bladder issues:

1. Bladder leakage

These women come from many different walks of life — teachers, accountants, doctors, chefs, musicians, and athletes. Yet they all have one thing very much in common. As their lives advanced past age 60, they did not retire to reminisce about their glory days. Their most glorious achievements may be yet to come.

By refusing to accept the limitations that society puts on women of a certain age, these movers and shakers have embraced their age and challenged the status quo, and they continue to inspire women around the world, proving that your passion for life and ability to contribute to society don't end when you turn 60. Your gut will thank you.

Taking probiotics for your gut health is one thing. (Who's gonna say no to fewer stomach issues and more bathroom regularity? No one—that's who.) But can these teeny-tiny bacteria—found in dietary supplements and fermented foods—help you lose weight, too? They do live in your stomach, after all.

Probiotics are live microorganisms that naturally live in your body already, according to the National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health (NCCIH). “Probiotics are substances that encourage the growth of bacteria, specifically beneficial bacteria, that help to keep intestinal health in balance,” says Frances Largeman-Roth, RDN, author of Eating in Color. “A healthy balance of good bacteria in the body may help regulate weight and ward off a range of health issues.”

Those other health issues include digestive problems like irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), along with allergic skin diseases like atopic dermatitis, and even the common cold, per the NCCIH. But the link between probiotics and weight loss is less definitive. Here's what we know (and don't know).

It's never too early to start having open and honest discussions.

We want our kids to see their bodies as we have since day one: beautiful, strong, and amazing. But the sad truth is, from a startlingly young age, kids begin to have less-than-positive attitudes about their bodies. (A staggering report found that more than half of girls and one-third of boys ages 6 to 8 feel their ideal body is thinner than its current size.) Whether it’s media exposure, peer influence, or messages they’re receiving at home, kids develop their body image sensibilities from a range of factors, says Tori Cordiano, PhD, a clinical psychologist and the director of research at the Laurel School Center for Research on Girls in Shaker Heights, Ohio.

Ideally, parents can become the loudest and most trusted voice and help their children develop a healthy relationship with food, exercise, and their body image. “That’s the essence of body positivity,” says Cordiano, “It’s the acceptance and celebration of all types of bodies, and the celebration of your body’s strengths and abilities, as well as how it looks.”

Try these practices to teach your child good habits and a body-positive mindset from a young age.

Ladies, we know you are busy. We know you are time poor. We know you are constantly trying to juggle a million tasks at once and rarely take time to focus on you. It is very well known that health and wellness is continuously bumped to the bottom of the to-do list for Aussie women. A 2020 study by Jean Hailes into the health needs and behaviours of women across Australia reflects this lack of selfcare by stating 31.7% of women aged 25-44 did not have enough time to attend health check appointments.

As Women’s Health Week has well and truly wrapped up for the year, we need to remind ourselves that we should not only prioritise our selfcare and wellness just one week every year; it should be implemented into our everyday routine.

To help every modern woman take control of their health and wellbeing, we have pulled together a list of the absolute must-have apps and services you need to know so you can prioritise you!

The first accounts of the disorder known as hysteria date back to ancient Greek scrolls, characterizing the cause of various symptoms in women due to the uterus somehow migrating through the body and affecting other organs.

Over millennia, the proposed cause of hysteria shifted to psychological explanations, first rooted in psychoanalytic theory, then adapted further by other schools of thought. The term was used to explain a wide variety of what we now know to be normal reproductive functioning, confident assertive behaviors, and emotional expression, as well as actual clinical symptoms, such as the loss of appetite or pleasure associated with depression.

Looking back, we also see evidence of hysteria attributed to men. However, the history of hysteria as “emotional excess” has mostly involved unsuccessful attempts to explain aspects of women’s biology and behavior considered puzzling.

It's all about how you prep it.

If you're trying to lose weight, one of the best things you can do is eat your breakfast. Front-loading calories earlier in your day means you're less likely to overeat later on in the day because you're starting off full and satisfied. And when it comes to a healthy breakfast, one of the classics that probably comes to mind is...a big bowl of oatmeal. But is it really a good choice for weight loss?

Oatmeal is generally touted as a healthy food, as it can fuel you with energy and other good-for-you nutrients that can lower cholesterol and control your blood sugar levels. But it is a carb-heavy grain, so you might be wondering if oatmeal is actually a good food choice if you're trying to lose weight, especially since many diets involve limiting carbs.

Here's the thing: Whether or not oatmeal is a good breakfast for weight loss really depends on the kind you're eating, and how you're preparing it. Here's what a dietitian says about eating oatmeal for weight loss.

There is so much more life left to live!
