Boston Polo School & Polo Club is located in Georgetown, Massachusetts. This ideal spot on the North Shore is extremely accessible to the Boston area, as well as many communities across Maine and New Hampshire. Come experience what is considered the oldest organized sport in the world. Dating back thousands of years to Central Asia, horseback polo was first introduced in the United States in 1876. Since then, the sport of kings has gained popularity and spread across coasts. Whether you are a seasoned player with your own pony, or a newcomer with no experience, Boston Polo School is the place for you. There are many comprehensive programs and opportunities to compete based on your current abilities and future goals. Interested in other aspects of polo besides riding or playing? Participate in other critical areas of the sport such as pony care, umpiring, and tournament prep. We have all the necessary ponies, facilities, and equipment. We are open to all skill levels- come learn, play, and compete!

#FunFactFriday Like many polo traditions this one can be traced back to India where the game was played by nobility and royals that competed in intense heat. Players preferred clothing that was light in weight and color. Polo it seems has always been fashionable.

Mares lead the herd, while the stallion follows behind protecting the group. When young males become colts, at around two years of age, the stallion drives them away. Practice chukkers with Dana Hall high school girls’ team! We’ve recently started transporting horses to their school to help offer more opportunities for young players to learn the sport basics. We hope to have many of them become strong riders and players who can join their future college teams!

Like polo, bareback riding was once a popular art that is now sadly, going extinct. As polo player's you understand the bond you must form with your horse, just like bareback riders. You might remember the event at Arabian Nights in Florida called the “The Great Flip-Off”. If you don’t there is now a documentary about it on all VOD platforms. Dive in to see how so many different families took the trust they formed with their horses and made it into a sport. It would be perfect for polo players who can relate to not wanting their sport to go extinct. You can easily tell how much these horses and this sport means to the riders in the documentary.
