What Are We About? West Ottawa Music Boosters is a non-profit organization that works to promote the Music Department and enhance the music education of West Ottawa students. It touches the lives of more than 1,750 middle and high school students who are involved in a variety of band, orchestra, and choir classes. In recent years, many of these groups have distinguished themselves by winning awards and top ratings at local, regional and state music festivals. Who Are the West Ottawa Music Boosters? You are! If you have a child or know a child in any of West Ottawa’s 38 band, orchestra or choir classes and ensembles or are just interested in supporting the music program, then congratulations, You are a Music Booster. Here is the good news! There is no membership fee! You are only asked that you lend your time and support. For specific volunteer information, please check out the Information section of our website. Booster activities are run by dedicated volunteers who organize fundraisers to support the music program and assist in the smooth operation of West Ottawa’s many music performances and events. We also usher at concerts, chaperone at parades, Festivals and events. We clap enthusiastically and stand behind all West Ottawa music students in any way possible.

Festival season is just around the corner! Students and teachers are working hard to prepare the music every day. Next we need to call upon our parent volunteers to help run the event. As many of you know, West Ottawa hosts this event for our region and it takes a lot of hands. Please consider signing up to volunteer on the day of Festival. It's 2020 and we have an amazing opportunity coming to our community- the chance to see some of the top jazz musicians in the country at our very own PAC. Members (and former members) of the Wynton Marsallis Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra will be on stage Jan 25th. Let's fill the PAC for this concert that will support the music program here at West Ottawa! PLEASE SHARE

Tonight our 6th Grade Orchestra students will be making their debut on the PAC stage. They are really excited for their first performance! Harbor Lights performs at 6pm and Mac Bay performs at 7pm.

It's a big week for some of our WO musical middle schoolers. Join us at the following concerts this week.
Monday at 6:30pm Mac Bay Winter Choir Concert
Tuesday at 6, 7, or 8pm Harbor Lights 6th, 7th, and 8th grade Bands respectively.
Thursday at 6, 7, or 8pm Mac Bay 6th, 7th, and 8th grade Bands respectively.
For many of these kiddos it is their first time on the PAC stage and they are really excited!
Lucky us! We have a couple of option tonight to support our West Ottawa music kids. At the PAC at 6:30pm Harbor Lights will be presenting their choirs in concert. And at 6:30pm in downtown Holland the WO High School Marching Band will be in the Parade of Lights.
Thursday the WO 7th and 8th Grade Orchestras will kick off the holiday season with concerts in the PAC. Harbor Lights starts at 6pm, Mac Bay starts at 7:30.
Tomorrow night the WO Jazz I group will be performing side-by-side with the Hope Jazz Collective. Join us at 7:30pm at the Hope Miller Auditorium to kick off this year's Jazz I concerts.
WO is performing Addams Family again this weekend!! Tonight and tomorrow night at 7:30pm in the PAC. This show is fantastic, come out and support all our wonderful WO talent!

Exciting news ...
We are excited to announce our Artist in Residence program that we are beginning this year! We are using our fundraising money from Music Boosters sales to support this program, which will bring in two fantastic local musicians/teachers to work with our students every week. Mrs. Amanda Dykhouse will be working with Chamber Orchestra, and Mrs. Lauren Garza will be working with the 7th & 8th graders at both buildings. This is in addition to the co-teaching we already have with Mrs. Zokoe in 6th Grade, Symphony Orchestra and Concert Orchestra. This assistance will make a big difference for all of our students as they pass through the orchestra program at WO!

We were just contacted by a professional jazz musician interested in bringing a 6 piece All Star Jazz Combo to WO for a performance in January.
This is a group of current day A List Jazz Musicians. It would be amazing to bring this caliber of performance to our community.
We are looking for donors to sponsor this major event. If you are interested in supporting this effort, contact Mr. Hamann at [email protected] ASAP for more information. We have a very short time to pull together funding for this.
