This was supposed to be a post pleading with the public to stop stealing our plants! Instead, we realized that yesterday was "Make a Difference Day," and our volunteers at The ARTS at Marks were busy planting (well, re-planting)... again. The planters that frame our entrance are beautifully handpainted by Kayleigh Chaikowski and feature the birds of Hawaii. And our volunteers work very hard to showcase them by cleaning them and caring for the plants that call the planters "home." Here at The ARTS at Marks, we are committed to making a difference... and sometimes it's just a series of really small things like doing our part to help beautify the neighborhood that we call "home." So we've decided that if the plants disappear a thousand times, we will plant a thousand and one, in hopes that the person or persons who take them likely needed them more to help beautify the space that they call "home." That is one of our commitments to make a difference. Every. Single. Day.

And a very special mahalo goes out to @honolulupd for helping us to recover some of the plants that "walked away" in broad daylight. While we realize that you have more important things to do, know that your actions meant the world to us. We are grateful. Thank you for your service and for making a difference in a neighborhood that is fighting to come back to life.

The discussion will be opened up to the audience so everyone can contribute their stories, reflections, and observations on the theme and works.

Thank you Oahu for helping us kick off Honolulu Pride Month with the opening of the ARTS OF PRIDE exhibition! Here's a sneak peak at the items that sold last night. With such a wide range of mediums and styles and techniques, this is one of the most diverse exhibits we've seen! And this exhibit is unique in that it will evolve and grow... we will continue adding pieces throughout the month, until we run out of space! We are humbled and honored that so many individuals in our LGBTQ community wanted to participate, from some very well known established artists to some that are sharing their talent with the world for the very first time here at The ARTS at Marks! We are officially open for viewing Tuesdays through Saturdays from 12-5, and we also invite you to meet some of the artists on Saturday, October 16 from 2-5.

A big mahalo to @artsofpride @gayislandguide @darkmirrorentertainment for believing in this event and bringing it to life... chasing the rainbow through the storm! And special thanks to @kimtaylorreece @justkanoe2 and all of our amazing volunteers for the love, support, and long hours to ensure its success!

Please note that viewing space is limited as we are following all covid safety and social distancing protocols set forth by the State of Hawaii. Proof of vaccination within 14 days is required for entrance to the gallery.

‘Another Night Another Day’ by @jodiendicott “The constant is finding the light to lead us out of the darkness. Day or night, positive or negative, this is our continuum.”

‘Faith, Hope, and Love, &More Love’
Delta means change, something we all have had to come to terms with. This time has given us pause to show more empathy for one another. The seed of change in deltas darkness sets the tone for our future. Together, in our acceptance of what once was, we will see the path in faith, hope, love, and more love.
