Willow River Trail Challenge–2020

EVENT UPDATE...This fluid and unfamiliar time of a global pandemic have added new levels of “challenge” for event organizers including the Friends of Willow River and Kinnickinnic State Parks.

As you may already know, the Trail Challenge is THE fundraising event for the Friends of Willow River and Kinnickinnic State Parks. We have been monitoring the situation closely and staying as up-to-date as possible regarding CDC and Wisconsin State Parks guidelines, and how they impact Willow River Trail Challenge activities. Of course, we have also been watching other events to pick up any decision-making tips. The safety of participants and volunteers remains our top priority.

At this time, we are optimistic that, with significant COVID-19 adjustments, the event WILL be held on Saturday, October 10. However, no one can predict the future. Therefore, we have a plan to offer refunds should we need to cancel the event. If, as the global pandemic situation evolves, the Trail Challenge is canceled, registration fees, minus $5.00 to cover our fixed registration costs, will be offered to participants.

What We Know
Runners have had more time to be outdoors and training than during a typical season.
The Half-Marathon and 10.6 K routes and distances will remain the same as previous years.
The 6.6K Trail Challenge route will be redesigned to eliminate busing. Participants will start and finish at the beach area. Our goal is a course that is close to the 6.6K distance and passes Willow Falls.
The Kids Obstacle Challenge is canceled. We have no way to adhere to COVID-19 guidelines of social distancing and non-touch for an event of this type.
The Family Fun Walk is canceled.

Stay tuned for updates. As we learn more, we will be sharing it with you. Meanwhile, go ahead and register for the half, 10.6K or 6.6K events!
