You might recall this little fella that one of our Paws on 66 volunteers witnessed being hit by a car and severely injured late in the afternoon after our very first Paws on 66 in 2017.

No one came forward to claim him and we were so grateful to All Those Left Behind Animal Rescue, Inc. who took him in without hesitation. They helped him heal physically and mentally.

This is Champ today, his home is with the founder of the rescue. The rescue has been hit with a number of expenses and we would like to ask our followers to please help support their efforts. Please consider donating on behalf of Champ and all of those that they’ve helped.

Thank you so much!

We do not typically share posts about dogs in need, but our friends at Hedd Mutt Foundation are looking for a very special foster home for a sweet girl named Daisy. She’s a favorite with the folks at animal control, she has stolen their hearts.

Fostering is not a forever thing, but without foster homes, dogs like Daisy have no chance of a forever. She’s what’s called “urgent” right now. The volunteers have been granted time to find her a new home but that time has run out.

Can you help? She’s a beautiful girl with a heart of gold and a tail that wags 100 miles an hour.

For more information, please reach out to the folks at Hedd Mutt. If you become the person that saves her life, we will definitely want to meet you at next year’s Paws on 66 with Daisy’s forever family and stage a great photo op showing that truly, fostering saves lives.

Please share so that Daisy finds a soft bed, plenty of treats and a loving family. She deserves it.

This is a very special post about a very special person, Lauren Las.

Several years ago, we were fortunate to meet Lauren from the Joliet City Center Partnership and worked with her to present Paws on 66. It was successful beyond our wildest dreams. There are no words of thanks that could be enough to truly thank her for her wisdom, her friendship and her great sense of humor. We had some stressful times over the years putting the event on (as happens with all large events), but Lauren always kept it held together. She knew exactly who to talk to to get what we needed, her contacts literally made things happen. When we were worried about the flowers being in the planters on time or the fountain being clean, it was Lauren. When folks with booths needed electricity, it was Lauren who got it done. When one of our out-of-town participants needed a tent and table to set up with, Lauren made it happen. We needed a stage? It was Lauren. Our name on the Rialto marquee, yep Lauren. The bandannas, the T-shirts, the promotions and getting Paws on 66 on the news, all thanks to Lauren. She also made certain Paws on 66 had a prime spot in the annual Joliet Lights Up the Holidays Christmas Parades.

Lauren is moving on from the City Center Partnership to a new career opportunity and we are going to miss her so much.

Lauren, thank you so much for everything, best wishes in your new role and you know we’re going to be getting together to raise a glass… or two or three!

~All the best from Morgan, Peggy and the Paws on 66 Volunteer Team❤️A big thank you from all the dogs and cats that found love and a forever home at Paws on 66🐾

We are sharing this post in honor of all of the rescues that are helping to save lives every day while dogs are commercially bred and sold in pet stores for thousands and thousands of dollars. Please use your voice as we have an opportunity to make a real difference here in Illinois. Please reach out to your state representative and share this post! We can’t make this happen without your help!

HB1711 will stop the sale of commercially bred puppies and kittens in pet stores here in Illinois. Folks will have the opportunity to adopt from a shelter or rescue or purchase a puppy from responsible a breeder (responsible, preservationist breeders do not sell their puppies to pet stores or brokers).

Please reach out to your Illinois State Rep and ask them to support and cosponsor this bill. Time is of the essence as this bill is headed for a full house vote and then moving to the Senate. Hopefully after that it will be signed into law by the governor.

***Special Announcement***

Although we are grateful for the progress made in returning to “normal”, Paws on 66 hosts close to 3000 attendees with the health and safety of all involved our number one concern. To that end, we have made the collective (and very difficult) decision to cancel Paws on 66 for 2021.

We want Paws on 66 be an event that brings people and pets together, showcasing amazing vendors while enjoying food and drink. To continue that tradition, we want folks to feel safe and be able to interact freely. It’s our hope that may be possible in 2022.

It literally takes a year of planning to organize Paws on 66 and we are already planning 2022. Until then though we ask that you continue to support our amazing rescues (listed below), vendors, services and advocacy groups. Most need you now more than ever, with most of them having to most, if not all events virtually.

We thank you for your support, we’ll see you in 2022!

Our event strongly supports and promotes rescue and adoption, but we do understand that there are folks that prefer to buy from a reputable, responsible breeder.

Kabeara Samoyeds in Lockport, Illinois was named by the Humane Society of the United States to their 2020 “”Horrible Hundred” list of puppy mills.

We strongly recommend that you don’t believe everything you see on the website and that you do independent research to find a quality breeder. Unfortunately, there’s been many reports of sick puppies coming from Kabeara.

Do you know anyone that might’ve bought a puppy that was sick or health compromised from Kabeara? Please reach out to Go Humane, Naperville.

Always remember also that there are many puppies and adult dogs (including many purebred) available in rescue🐶

It’s another windy day in the Chicagoland area, please be mindful and keep your pets safe!

Don’t assume that all is well with your fence or your gates. The minute or two it takes to look may make the difference in your pet’s lives.

As always, make sure you have a collar with identification tags on your dog and that your microchip information is up-to-date (we highly recommend you checking that information, so many people have old landline’s listed on their information from when they first got their pet).

We’d like to ask for a little help today for one of our own. Sarah Lauch is the founder of the Live Like Roo Foundation, one of our very favorite participants at Paws on 66.

Her organization brings hope, strength and financial support to individuals that navigating a cancer diagnosis for their beloved pets. We’d like to ask if you would take a moment to cast a vote for Sarah. It’s literally two clicks and you don’t need to provide any information at all.

In the dark days that people face, Sarah brings them light with her foundation. Please vote for her and like and follow their page.

Thank you!

Voting for our annual #SHEINSPIRESME awards is now open through Sunday, Nov. 15th! Take a moment to see what these incredible women are doing in the community and cast your vote for all three categories - Adult, Young Adult, and Youth.

We really enjoy this event, it is well organized and has something for everyone. Already looking forward to next year!
Thank you so much Paws On 66! Hopeful Tails Animal Rescue had an amazing time at the event! We were crazy busy the entire time! Thanks to the event, we were able to send 3 pups to their forever homes from the event! One went into a foster to adopt home! After the event at our facility we completed 2 more adoptions! We are still finishing up vet checks and meet and greets with resident dogs.
