Support Pilot Light on our 20th Anniversary!

It's no exaggeration to say Central Cinema wouldn't exist without The Pilot Light. They got us in to the film exhibition game by hosting the first Knoxville Horror Film Fest in 2009, and have spent two decades (!) setting a crucial example for how DIY can build, sustain and enrich communities. (They even let William & Nick's old band open for some of our all-time favorites.)

We're facing down our own worries about what the future holds for movie theaters, but the outlook is all the more dire for tiny bars/venues where people go to see friends and sweat together and shout to the person next to them over noisy rock. So if the Pilot Light means something to you too, show them some love on their 20th birthday by investing in a 21st:

May of 2020 marks the 20th anniversary of Knoxville s home for original, independent, experimental music and performance : Pilot Light. We wish we could gather with all of you to celebrate the past and inspire times to come. With humanity s present crisis we are sad ...

Parkway Drive-In

We’re lucky to have a drive-in in our area, so if you go see a movie show them a little love and respect! It’s a tough world out there for small businesses.

Just to go on record!
We have never disallowed customers from bringing in food in their car as they enter.
I’m just thinking out loud here but Maybe we should stop that practice.

I have more and more customers that get to the Drive In and call Door Dash or Grub Hub or Dominoes to deliver to the property or just want to walk across the street to the Pizza & Sub Shop And they are more and more people think this is ok behavior.

In my opinion this is the same people that would sit in Waffle House or Shoney’s and have a Pizza Delivered. And what shocks me is they see nothing wrong with that conduct they see nothing wrong with that educate.
They truly have no shame in my opinion.

Check out the new films we have playing at our Virtual Cinema! (Links to ticket purchase below).

FOURTEEN:
Mara and Jo, in their twenties, have been close friends since middle school. Jo, the more outgoing figure, is a social worker who runs through a series of brief but intense relationships. Mara, a less splashy personality than Jo, bounces among teacher aide jobs while trying to land a position in elementary education, and writes fiction in her spare time. She too has a transient romantic life, though she seems to settle down after meeting Adam, a mild-mannered software developer. It soon becomes apparent that Jo, despite her intellectual gifts, is unreliable in her professional life, losing and acquiring jobs at a troubling rate. Substance abuse may be responsible for Jo’s instability… but some observers suspect a deeper problem. Over the course of a decade, the more stable Mara sometimes tries to help, sometimes backs away to preserve herself, but never leaves behind her powerful childhood connection with Jo.

RBG:
At the age of 85, U.S. Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg has developed a lengthy legal legacy while becoming an unexpected pop culture icon. But the unique personal journey of her rise to the nation’s highest court has been largely unknown, even to some of her biggest fans – until now. RBG explores Ginsburg’s life and career.

Not everything is as it seems for Cristi, a police inspector in Bucharest who plays both sides of the law. Embarking with the beautiful Gilda on a high-stakes heist, both will have to navigate the twists and turns of corruption, treachery and deception.
