Even the monsters are scared!!!! Unfortunately, out of concern and safety for all during the current Covid19 pandemic, the CreepyCon Halloween & Horror Convention has cancelled the August event that was to be held here in the Jacob Building.

A few words from our event organizers: "While we will miss you guys this year, we do have some ideas on how to bring you some digital creepy goodness, and we aim to do everything we can to keep the creepy going! Stay tuned for more information!"

"While CreepyCon 2020 is officially #quarantined, we will absolutely see you next year and are already planning CreepyCon 2021!"

As we are in Phase 2, here are a few key points.

In Phase 2 of our Community Reopening Plan, groups of up to 50 can gather while maintaining six feet apart and wearing face masks when physical distancing is difficult. As venues and bars begin to reopen, and church groups begin meeting in person again, here are some performance-related guidelines to keep in mind.

Muse Knoxville

Check out some great tips on making your own compost from our friends Muse Knoxville.

Celebrate Earth Day with us by learning how to make your own compost. 🌎🎉

Earth Day was first celebrated in 1970 on April 22 as a day of education about environmental issues, and today is the holiday's 50th anniversary! Gaylord Nelson, a Senator from Wisconsin began a national teach-in on the environment. He hoped to bring environmental causes into the national spotlight, and a number of important pieces of environmental legislation were passed soon after, among them the Clean Air Act, the Water Quality Improvement Act, the Endangered Species Act, and the Toxic Substances Control Act. The Environmental Protection Agency was established later, with the goal of protecting human health and safeguarding the natural environment—air, water and land.

You can protect your own health and environment by following this video to make compost your home! 🗑🍊🥚

Great 1918 picture! Thanks Knoxvile History Project for sharing! The Knoxville History Project

This 1918 photograph offers a rare vantage, through the pines, of the old main exhibition hall at Chilhowee Park, a centerpiece at three national expositions, notably the National Conservation Exposition of 1913, when it welcomed visitors like William Jennings Bryan, Helen Keller, and Booker T. Washington. Later it was central to the first Tennessee Valley Fairs, although the year this photograph was taken the fair was forced to close after two days due to the Spaniush Flu epidemic raging through Knoxville. But by the 1930s, the park’s main building was notable for major jazz concerts. However, it burned down in a spectacular fire in 1938, and was replaced by the much-plainer Jacob Building. The park is beautiful, but why have duck, geese, & fish feeders if they won't work! I walked to 3 different feeders! The first 2 were broken! The last one had food and appeared to worked! This is what I get for 50 cents! To whomever it may concern, PLEASE fix the feeders!
Will the tunnel of lights be back on before Christmas? It has been our favorite part of the lights 🎄

Dragon Lights Chinese Lantern Festival
We visited last Thursday evening, what a delight!
Hi! I bought tickets for the Dragon Lights Festival through Groupon for tonight, but I just went to print them and it says they expired yesterday and won’t let me print them out. Please help! We aren’t sure what to do or how to fix it!
When do you close on weeknights? And what time are the stage programs?
Here are some of our faces we painted.
Hi Kids and families. We are face painting at this amazingly beautiful event (out of costume.) Wed.- Sundays the whole 6 weeks. You can also get glow in the dark paint accents added to your design. In the dark use your cell phone flashlight to activate it and it will glow! Parents do you like the Christmas light drive through event at the Smokies Ball Park like we do? WELL This is 100 times more interesting and beautiful than that event. Walk through the scenes of animals, flowers, dinosaurs, Easter bunnies, shapes etc. They are magnificent in daylight but at night come alive in the most beautiful way. The description about it does not do it justice as it is hard to convey just how wonderful it is. The Chinese show with acrobats, sward & bamboo maneuvers, plate spinning etc. etc. etc. is fun and interesting also! (3 shows a night) Parents I think this is a great event unlike anything I have ever seen for families. BRING YOUR KIDS AND GRAND-KIDS! There is also these really cool hand made butterfly shaped lolly pops that are 4"-5". You get to eat art!
Dragon Lights is open every night until April 22nd!
I drove through the beautiful Christmas/holiday lights twice and was amazed at their beauty. They were very well presented and created a very festive atmosphere. I want to thank all those responsible and look forward to next year!!!
