This pandemic has been challenging for so many of us. At Women’s Worth, our business model revolved around bringing you a 2-day, in-person conference.

We have been checking in with you, and listening to what you’ve been going through. In these conversations, our team has heard one common thread: what’s needed most right now is not a conference.

As a result, we have made the difficult decision to close our doors. We will no longer be holding our annual Summit, and early bird tickets will be refunded.

We sincerely thank you for being part of this community. Even though Women’s Worth as a business is closing, Joni and Sarah will be opening up a new venture to meet the more immediate needs of business owners.

We understand that many of you have seen big changes as well. Whatever you’re feeling, whatever you’re going through, we are here for you. Feel free to schedule a time to talk here:

𝗠𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗪𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻’𝘀 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗵 𝗦𝘂𝗺𝗺𝗶𝘁 𝗖𝗼-𝗙𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀: For 11 years, Tina Johnson has spearheaded the Virginia Women’s Business Community. She has cultivated this conference into a thriving community of women in business. Tina, we are thankful and acknowledge you for your impactful service. Thank you for being a contribution to so many of us.

We are honored and humbled to take the torch from Tina and run with it. We have a BIG vision for an event that expands throughout the DMV, and with collaboration and momentum, together we all in turn will impact the world. We believe with all our might that women supporting other women in business leads to endless possibilities, and we hope to make our community proud.

At this time of transition, we know that change can be confusing. What you’ve known so well for 11 years is now something new. It’s shocking and emotional if you are a long-term member of this community. Without knowing what’s coming next, it’s easy to question, judge, and assume the worst… all of this is completely understandable and human nature.

Wherever you are with this transition, we honor you. We honor you for being a past supporter, attendee, speaker, and sponsor of the conference. We honor you for taking the time to come together as women to support each other. We honor you for investing your time and energy into this community. We honor the investment you have made so far, whether it’s been one year or eleven years. Your time is valuable. And yes, you deserve to know what’s going on.

You deserved to know about this transition well ahead of time. You deserved the respect of time to process the change before we even brought up ticket sales. You deserved updates and communication instead of radio silence. Our intention was not to leave you wondering. And for those of you reading this without a clue of what we’re talking about: The transition hasn’t been smooth. We regret this deeply and are sorry.

We’d like to start over. And we request your grace as we move through these growing pains together into something magical and significant. We’re doing something big: expanding the Virginia Women’s Business Conference into a gathering of women in business in our nation’s capital. Our vision is larger than life, and we can’t accomplish it alone. We’re inviting you to be a part of this exciting adventure and journey.

So here’s our promise to you: We promise to work hard for this community. We promise to never take for granted how valuable your time is. We promise that if you give us your trust, we will build and grow something incredible: a meeting space for authentic connections to grow into an UNSTOPPABLE movement.

YOU are the glue that holds this community together, and we sincerely want to get to know you. We want to get to know about your businesses. And we want to be able to curate connections in this community to serve you and support you as business leaders. We look forward to learning about you, and hearing your ideas for the future.

To this end, we invite you to get on a call with us. Email us at [email protected] to set up your call. We hope to talk to each and every one of you personally.

We are so excited for the amazing future ahead and strongly believe through friendships and businesses connections, anything is possible. With open arms and hearts, we welcome you to the Women’s Worth Community as inaugural members. We can’t thank you enough for being part of this movement as we celebrate Women’s Worth together!!

"This is a very tough one, especially as your family changes over the years and you feel pulled in every direction. I try to throw out all expectations of what a "perfect" holiday season would look like and do my best to live in the moment. Nothing will go just as you plan it, but if you're only focusing on what didn't happen just as you hoped, you will miss the beautiful, spontaneous moments you never could have planned."

“The best way I have found to maintain a grateful heart is to give back and take some time to embrace the giving spirit of the season. Every year I participate in several charitable causes that help me put things into perspective. In particular, my whole family participates in Wreaths Across America at Arlington National Cemetery to honor our veterans through the laying of Remembrance Wreaths on the graves of our country's fallen heroes. Part of the ceremony is to say the name of each veteran aloud as we lay the wreath on their grave. I feel like, for a moment, time slows down and we all recognize how lucky we are to celebrate and be together during the holidays.” – Rose Price, CFP ® AIF ®

During the holidays, when everyone is inviting you to this or that, or making demands (why aren’t you coming to our house for Christmas?) I am grateful I know how to establish and communicate healthy boundaries when it comes to my time. I’m already grateful and thankful every day of the year for my health, for my family, for the opportunities coming my way - but the holidays can be a time when we let frazzled come before grateful, so it’s even more important to be grateful for having your priorities straight! Not saying I do this 100% of the time, but it’s getting better.

When things get hectic and stressful, I choose to focus on the good in every situation. I find something I can be grateful for no matter what. Stuck in traffic? So grateful for my car and its awesome sound system! Phone ringing off the hook and a gazillion emails to respond to? So grateful that people want to connect with me. Business is booming! Calendar busting at the seams with holiday events? So grateful for all the people in my life. This is the joy of the season! Gratitude is the fastest and quickest way to shift into a positive, can-do state where you can handle anything that comes at you. It's the secret sauce to a successful mindset and business!

Grateful – by definition this word means…feeling or showing an appreciation of kindness; thankful. I wake up every day grateful for the opportunities and people around me. I am in the people business and it’s hard at times to work with people who are, let’s say, not so grateful. A friend taught me to find the “like” in everyone. What do you “like” about the person. We are all different but at the heart of it, we want to provide for our families (food, water, shelter), we want our children to grow up loved and with endless possibilities, we want to be loved. I remind myself of the times when I needed help and someone helped me…without asking or expecting anything in return. The small acts of kindness go a long way…holding the door, giving a smile, telling someone they did a good job. No matter what is going on with me, I send prayers to those who are less fortunate. The old adage…it is better to give than receive is how I make it through the holidays (oh, and schedule time for a hot bath).

I teach Stress Management Classes and one of my favorite phrases is "our thoughts cause our feelings". The best way to maintain a grateful heart (how you feel) is to maintain a grateful mind (how you think). It takes a little practice but we can steer our mind to think grateful thoughts instead of letting negative thoughts overtake our mind. It's so easy to get pulled into comparing how "stressed out" we are during the holidays as if it proves our worth or our level of care. In reality, all it does is take away from our heart and peace of mind and propagate a stress cycle. I have made it a habit to keep my heart guarded from negativity during the holidays by focusing on the "reason for the season", committing to truly only do things that bring me joy and give others joy, and committing to not complaining about what I do choose to do. (After all, I chose it!) I believe that when more of us model a healthy, joyful, and grateful attitude, it can spread, just like complaining or commiserating about "how stressed we are" can spread. Let's use our sphere of influence for good!

I enlist my team to do a weekly gratitude list of inward and outward gratitude. For example, inward: I am grateful for setting boundaries to ensure I am focusing on self-care around the holiday demands. Outward: I am grateful that our team pushed out a few projects for next year to ensure we had time for closing out the year. It is important to focus on inward and outward gratitude.

"During my childhood years, holidays focused on family traditions and rituals that were meant to create meaningful experiences. Nowadays, holidays feel like they revolve around obligations and expectations. I have learned to give myself permission to let some things go, breathe and drink in my surroundings and find at least one thing to be grateful for. Peace begins from within!"

Love at first sight! OpenBlooms this incredible wreath at their vendor table. I was so in love that I tried to buy it at a higher price! Rebecca called the shop and had them make me one and... delivered it! So I had to go find them and see what kind of living art pieces they had. I picked up these gorgeous “Christmas Trees” that last all year as long as they are cared for!
