I have been asked to submit a post as to why Lincoln Park Days was canceled.
The Emergency Operations Center met on Monday, August 16th to discuss safety issues in the city. The EOC decided with a vote, 6 to 1 to cancel Lincoln Park Days. The reason for the cancelation is, children under the age of 12 can not be vaccinated against Covid-19. As we all know a carnival attracts children in this age group and it’s imperative to keep them safe.
I also would like to clarify, Lincoln Park Days is not put on by the city but by the Lincoln Park Exchange Club. The Exchange Club submits a special event permit to the city council for approval to hold the festival.
The EOC (Emergency Operation Center) is a group of professionals within the city that is tasked with making recommendation during emergencies. The Exchange Club of Lincoln Park must follow the recommendations of the EOC. All of us in Exchange are sadden by this and want you to know we will return next year with an outstanding event for the city,
