Kathleen Marie sings

Since 2016, Cortney built this Monday night space for songwriters of all types to be together and create.

As we count down to our move date (June 25), we are celebrating one last gathering of some of the LA musicians who have made this courtyard so special.

In the words of Kathleen as we took up our instruments and began to play:

"This feels like home!"

We love you, Monday night songwriter circle. And you clearly love each other. Which is really what building a creative community is all about.

Reuniting with some of our favorite people, past and present. Melissa was in town last week "to start packing" but also a fair amount of togetherness took place.

What a gift it is to get along and to share life. How's that for a co-working space?

We will miss this building, where so many of these friendships were formed. We look forward to forming new ones in the next one.

November's art exhibition was a rousing success! We were absolutely delighted to host this beautiful and imaginative interactive show. Caleb Conner was moved to create this video of the opening on November 9; we thought it captured the spirit of the gathering!

On Monday, we hosted a small, socially distanced retreat by the beach to celebrate our achievements of the past year - the TADA List. Which helped clarify our purpose for the remaining quarter.
It was so refreshing, and strangely satisfying to take a break from pushing forward. Like the ocean tides, to ease back and enjoy the reality that much of our efforts this year were successful in various ways.
The ebb and flow of the tide is like all productivity and creative work. We have to recede in order to gain momentum and surge forward again.
How are you finding encouragement and refreshment in creative vision these days? What is one achievement from 2020 that you are most proud of?
(hint: if nothing comes to mind, take a look at your calendar... chances are you have done much more this year than you have given yourself credit for - even if it's finishing that book you've been meaning to read since 8th grade)

Enjoy and celebrate creativity in an exciting and tangible way this month! The Epiphany Box is getting ready to ship soon, and the deadline for orders is Friday at midnight.

What is the Epiphany Box? It's our quarterly subscription box of created works from artists in our LA community of writers, painters, filmmakers, musicians, podcasters, and entrepreneurs. Each box has something beautiful, something moving, and something entertaining - a reflection of the spirit of creativity inside all of us.

The August box is themed: VIBRANCE. It's a curated collection of items - two physical pieces and one digital download - to surprise and delight with new discoveries for yourself and for those you share it with.

The price tag includes tax and shipping, but at $44 we recognize that this is NOT a deal :) You could get four months of streaming service for that, or 10 Starbucks drinks. We realize it's not cost-effective.

But we do think this package of artist surprises is valuable, and we know it will bring value to YOU. The quotes in this graphic are real words from real people who received the box for themselves and the ones they love.

We're so proud of our artists, and we're thrilled to offer this package of goodies while we quarantine.

Read all about it here! Ask questions if you have them! If you think it's interesting, pass it along!

Here's a handy reminder for why it's important to create. Why what artists do has value, even in a pandemic where many of us have been deemed non-essential.
(we looked it up, btw... "essential" is not the same as "important")

Let's define what we mean by "God." For me, as a Christian, "God" is the underlying energy behind all we see and experience." That is what we mean when we talk about an underlying divine presence, the divine presence within all things or common humanity.
