The Beautiful Boulevard is Eagle Rock’s Opportunity for Climate Action - Climate Resolve

Proposals to expand medians, bike lanes, and crosswalks along Colorado Boulevard could improve active & public transit, expand urban greenery, and be a boon to local businesses.

When you think of taking action on climate change, what do you think of? Reusable bags and water bottles? Using energy efficient light bulbs and appliances? Maybe going vegan or eating less meat? All of these activities are related to greenhouse gas emissions, but what is the largest source of green...

Will the Pandemic Make Los Angeles More Pedestrian-Friendly?

“People want to be outside. That’s a big reason why people live in Los Angeles.” CicLAvia's open streets events and work with outdoor dining are part of a bigger trend to reclaim more space for pedestrians, active transportation, dining, and recreation

Outdoor dining and slow streets programs are chipping away at Southern California’s deference to cars.

Op-Ed: The pandemic made L.A. smaller. Let's keep it that way

When you treat LA as a walkable city, you "experience it anew." With more public and open spaces to walk, we're "presented with the chance to reimagine the city and the way we live in it."

'CicLAvia has demonstrated that even the streets downtown can become inhabited and taken over for pleasure. Big parks, like Grand Park, show how active our downtown public spaces can be. We have a good future for increasing public activity downtown.'

Since the pandemic, restaurants have taken over curbside parking for outdoor eating, and some streets have been closed to traffic. Might these changes be permanent, and what could U.S. cities look like overall post-pandemic?

Our Story

CicLAvia is a free and recurring event that allows for the temporary closing of interconnected routes throughout the LA region, creating a web of public space in which Angelenos can walk, bike, exercise, socialize, celebrate, and explore new cultures and neighborhoods.

Similar events occur in many other cities around the US like Portland, New York, and San Francisco. The Bogóta ciclovía also has inspired programs in Mexico City, Guadalajara, Quito, and Melbourne.
