Should schools be teaching things other than our traditional topics? Leave your ideas in the comments!

Besides maths, english, or humanities, what other courses does the TEDxUCLA community wish were offered in high schools? From personal finance to mental health, here are just a couple of ideas that we thought were worth spreading.

Instagram User @isseratos says that "I believe such important aspects of out daily life as citizens, such as personal finance, should be taught in High School. I believe adding courses on how to do your taxes and finance-related topics would decrease the number of student loan debts. Also, we live in a 'free' country where there's a penalty for not having health insurance and yet, healthcare is extremely expensive."

COVID-19 and systemic racism have forced us to open our eyes, our hearts, and our minds to fundamental realities. Every sector is examining their values, their outcomes, their business models, and their souls. The nonprofit community is no different. The explosion of need and the implosion of funding forces us to reimagine our work and our sustainability. This is a defining moment for change. How will this moment impact the future of LA’s non-profits? What can EDs, board members, and donors do?
