The Arpa International Film Festival would like to wish a heartfelt happy birthday to our Programmer & Community Liaison, and Moderator for "The Attempt" film, Silva Karageozian!

Karageozian is an alumna of UC Irvine with a degree in Political Science. As a full-time parent, she became an active volunteer in her local community. The spirit of volunteerism led her back to her alma mater, where she aligned with the UCI Armenian Studies Program. She has worked to promote awareness and raise funds for Western Armenian language instruction and is co-chair of the Director’s Circle for Armenian Studies at UCI. She also chartered the UCI Armenian American Alumni Chapter.

For Karageozian, being part of the AFFMA and the Arpa International Film Festival is an exciting way to explore and examine intriguing and relevant topics through the medium of film.

My first Music Album: In Search of Home, organized by Isabella Bablumian

Isabella Bablumian's first Music Album: "In Search of Home" is an invitation to join her journey of Self-Discovery. By tuning in, you’ll get a glimpse of her endless search for belonging, through the ancient melancholic melodies of her home country that express the longing she felt ever since she left. Through her music, you'll witness her discovery of new ways of being herself with Brazilian tunes that carry notes of Armenianness.

Arpa International Film Festival would like to congratulate the cast and crew of "The Attempt.”

We want to thank Professor Salvador Carrasco for his passion, focus, stamina for making this happen and partnering with us. It was two hours of an incredible night with cast members sharing their behind-the-scenes encounters from mastering dialects, finding locations, overcoming challenges along the way, building relationships with each member, and sharing their tender moments with humor.

Arpa would like to also take this opportunity to thank our Moderator Silva Karageozian who invested fully with the director, producers, actors allowing each the chance to share their unique experiences with her gracious and present interaction. Your hard work, your creative thought-provoking story made an impact and inspired future independent filmmakers, and a joy for our virtual audience to experience.

Once again, thank you for putting your heart and soul into this wonderful short film whose strong message will be honored and respected.

We wish all those involved in “The Attempt” future success and happiness.

The films that are showing at this film festival look really unique, I’ll have to check out some of the movies that are shown. I love to support independent cinema and watch films from up and coming directors since they always bring something new to the industry. One of these films that I recently watched was Empathy Inc. it’s a psychological thriller about a business that sells virtual reality experiences. Director, Yedidya Gorsetman, does an excellent job of telling his unique story while breaking the boundaries of genre. If supporting new directors and indie cinema is something you also like to do you can watch the trailer for Empathy Inc. on YouTube and it’s available now on VOD.
Coming across film festival pages that aim to pave the way for a new era of cinema and cultivate cultural empathy and global understanding, such as the Arpa International Film Festival does, is such a light of hope for the future of the cinematic industry. I love the passion this film festival imminates for the desire of cultural diversity and understanding-- it’s truly commendable to stand for this during a time where our society needs it most! There is a hidden beauty in independent film, and the drive and effort that goes into making those visions a reality. I recently watched an independent neo-noir film on VOD called Empathy Inc; although technically a horror film, it was truly a genre within its own. With a blend of horror, crime, and science-fiction, this film was the perfect watch for the quickly approaching Halloween season. Aside from any doubts, I was truly left terrified by the end of the film as I questioned the fate of humanity by its end. If you’re interested, you can find this film’s trailer on Amazon or YouTube!
Congratulations to past Arpa filmmakers Edgar Sardarian and Peter Musurlian - as well as Arevik - the one photo I took! - for winning Emmy Awards at last night’s Regional LA Emmys! All there produced spectacular TV documentaries that were recognized by the Television Academy.
This Saturday night - 11/17 An international fine arts show with a 2018 Arpa nominated short film, 'What War?' based on the Armenian Revolution showing at 8:30PM & 10PM. (Runtime: ~13 mins). We will have wines from Armenia, Greece, Italy & Spain. It's a diverse international art show, so why not have wines from different parts of the world? =) Art, Wine, Short Film, Music & Artists... Sounds like a good night. RSVP closing tonight. www.parvezsimagery.com - Parvez S. Imagery https://www.facebook.com/events/2124469654231330/
