YouthBuild Charter School of California
Last week, YouthBuild Charter School of California students enrolled in the YouthBuild Construction Career Pathways Training Program spent their Spring Break at the 2017 Basic Academy, which is held every year at a different YCSC site. This year's event was held at our Norwalk location at Field of Dreams Learning, Inc. These young pre-apprentice trainees completed section three of the Multi-Craft Core Curriculum (MC3), which covers Construction, Health, and Safety. The first two days of the event found them earning their OSHA 10 hour training card, while mid-week they completed CPR and First Aid training. They finished the week off with a team building project, builiding free mini libraries to install later this month in and around the City of Norwalk. Trainees from eight different YouthBuild sites, located throughout Los Angeles County, including YouthBuild Charter Sgvcc, ACE's RUTH YouthBuild & GRYD, FREE LA High School, LEAD, W I N T E R YouthBuild, and Field of Dreams Learning, were invited to attend this year's event. Thanks to all who helped make this event a huge success. Special thanks to Sayaka Ponce from Field of Dreams YouthBuild for hosting, Vincent Butt and UCLA-LOSH for providing CPR and First Aid training.
